- MMarcNorthern Ireland •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoWe visited The Great Room for afternoon tea as a special treat for my mum's 65th birthday. She wanted to show me what true five-star service looked like after the disappointing experience I had elsewhere for my own 40th birthday, and from the moment we arrived, they absolutely delivered. Walking up the grand staircase into the beautiful dining room immediately made the occasion feel special. We were warmly welcomed, professionally checked in and escorted to our table. The gentleman looking after us seated my mum first, placed her napkin on her lap, then did the same for me. It's a small touch, but it perfectly summed up the attention to detail throughout our visit. The staff explained the afternoon tea, asked if we'd like to swap any items and opened a fresh bottle of Prosecco at the table. The food arrived promptly and was outstanding. Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented and generously filled. It was perfectly balanced too, with just the right amount of sweet and savoury. What really made the experience unforgettable was the service. The staff were attentive without ever being intrusive, regularly topping up our coffee and water and making sure we had everything we needed. The biggest surprise came when a member of the kitchen team brought out a beautiful birthday cake for my mum with "Happy Birthday" written on top. They had remembered that small detail from our booking months earlier, and we were genuinely touched. At the end, we didn't even have to ask for our leftovers to be boxed up. Everything was beautifully packed into elegant 20th Anniversary takeaway boxes. The food was exceptional, the service was flawless, the setting was stunning and, considering the quality of the whole experience, it was very reasonably priced. They made my mum's birthday feel truly special, and I couldn't recommend The Great Room highly enough.More infoThe Great Room Restaurant££££• Modern European• Belfast•4.8
