Manalu is a new authentic Italian restaurant by Chef/Owner Marco Pontecorvo. The name was to combine all three of his family members names. MA for Marco, NA for Naomi, his daughter, and LU for Lucia, his wife. Manalu's goal is to bring a taste of Italy and a touch of Naples in the town, by serving authentic Italian cuisine and the original pizza Napoletana cooked in a brick oven. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm, perfect for family and friends. Manalu` also has a full bar and happy hour Mon-Fri from 4pm to 7pm.     We drove over from The Inn Boonsboro which is a bit of a trek for dinner on winding roads and I-70 but it was worth it. The food was really great, our server Mary was wonderful and the look of the restaurant was inviting and contemporary. At some point the restaurant was a church which gives it a great vibe but the bar, while quite dramatic, might be considered a bit sacrilegious, with its behind the alter painting and religious architectural elements, but it sure is beautiful. Also, finding street parking, even on a Wednesday night, was impossible. Thankfully the restaurant has "valet" parking for $8. They take credit cards. Lastly, there's a new hotel attached to the restaurant and it looks fun and funky. I think it's called The Visitation. A cute name with a nod to the religious. Frederick is lacking in hotels so I'm sure it's a welcome addition.

    My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Monocacy Crossing last night and it was really nice. We were seated right away, with anniversary wishes from the staff and we were treated to a special evening. We really enjoyed dinner and will be back again soon.

    Manalu delivered a wonderful, authentic Italian dining experience! The cannellini bean soup was excellent, and my waitress was attentive and accommodating, happily adjusting the soup to meet my dietary preferences by leaving out the pasta. My salmon topped with crab, and adorned with calamari, clams, and mussels was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The seafood was tender, flavorful, and not chewy, a detail that truly matters to me, as seafood can easily be overcooked when not prepared properly. The kitchen clearly knows how to handle seafood, and the quality of the food really stood out. Combined with the thoughtful service and delicious flavors, this was an outstanding meal. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine!
