Restaurants near Greer Plaza Shopping Center

This was our second visit to Fork & Plough. The first visit for lunch a couple of weeks ago yielded excellent food, and terrific service. The pulled pork tacos were sensational. Fresh water on the table was a welcoming touch, as were sparkling clean tables and floors. Hard “cafeteria” chairs are surprisingly comfortable. Last nights food and service was also excellent, with the short ribs, pulled pork sandwich, and starters uniformly excellent. The food is very rich, expertly flavored, prepared and presented, and served at perfect temperatures for the whole party. The shared chocolate brownie dessert was just right. One complaint. The restaurant has nearly 100% hard surfaces and is extraordinarily loud! The bustle and clang is exacerbated by a too-loud (although sometimes interesting) sound track. We tolerated it at lunch, but felt battered by it at busy dinner. The cocktails were good (with one exception) Mixology was was again delicious, but the bacon used for the maple bourbon cocktail’s flourish nearly ruins it. The bacon tasted precooked, fatty, and nearly rancid the 3 times we’ve tried this otherwise excellent cocktail. Is an inedible there to just provide a smoky nose? Why not use the fresh bacon used in food dishes instead? Or just delete the bacon altogether? Pros: Wonderful food and service experiences. Cons: Expensive and very, very loud.

Abraham, our server, was terrific. Select has the friendliest and most gracious staff of any restaurant in the upstate. The food was impeccable - as always!

Ric Irwin’s never disappoints- always great service and food. The Peach Magnolia is the best craft cocktail I have had in a long time!
