Located in Portland's Old Port District, Fore Street opened in June, 1996. The interior surrounds a unique brick and soapstone hearth with a wood-burning oven, grill and turnspit; visible from most tables. We believe that good food travels the shortest possible distance between the farm and the table. Our menu changes every day and is founded upon the very best raw materials from a community of Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild, each brought to us at the peak of its season. In 2002 and again in 2007, Fore Street was named by Gourmet Magazine as one of the Top Fifty Restaurants in the United States.     I had the lamb shank osso buco served on a bed of creamy polenta. It was outstanding. There was a dusting of ground pistachios on the lamb that took this dish over the top. As always I am completely impressed with Pomelia’s food and service.

    Phenomenal dining experience with some of the best food we’ve had. The swordfish was the best I’ve ever had and the pork was outstanding. Great service, atmosphere, and value. Highly recommend.

    My cod dinner was without a doubt the best meal of my life - and I am 78 years old. Clam chowder was delicious as well. We come yo Portland from MA just to eat st Scales. Our very favorite restaurant anywhere.

    The White Clover’s warm decor, white table cloths and wall to wall to wall windows granting harbor views, created that atmosphere for a magnificent date night. Nakita was personable, and immediately made you feel that you had her full attention. We started with a specialty cocktails. The Pink vesper was a fun and light. We had lamb chops and beet salad for appetizers. Both were perfectly prepared with the appetizer lamb chops being more than enough to share. The golden beets were such a treat! Mid course of asparagus with feta that was whipped and provided a wonderful pairing. For the main, We had the lobster and halibut succoatash and the lamb shank. Again Chef Kyle outdid himself. Every bite was better than the next. Lastly we shared the key lime tart and then rolled ourselves out of the restaurant! This is not to be missed!
