Our menu changes with the seasons, and what we think looks good right now. We start with whatever we harvested from our garden this morning, or with whatever our farmers dropped off today. We're building relationships with the people who grow our food and make our wine - people who care as much about their craft as we do about ours. We take our wine and our food seriously. Everything else? It’s just dinner with friends.Since opening in 2022, we've been recognized as the Detroit Free Press Restaurant of the Year in 2023, one of Bon Appetit's Best New Restaurants of 2023 and in America's Best Restaurants of 2023 list by the New York Times.Reservations are for dinner service. Located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, TAKOI is known for modern Thai cooking accented with Michigan seasonality, a DIY mentality, and a penchant for local food production. As a core pillar of our mission, TAKOI operates HiO Farm which is located just a mile north of the restaurant. During the height of farm season, the restaurant highlights dishes prepared with HiO produce utilizing the techniques and flavors inspired by Thailand and beyond. TAKOI, originally KATOI, began as a food truck in 2014, evolved into an Ann Arbor pop-up, and landed as a proper restaurant at 2520 Michigan Avenue in March of 2016. After being open for 11 months, having a slew of fun, and garnering a handful of awards — including a James Beard 'Best New Restaurant' nomination— KATOI was brought back down to earth when it was subjected to arson in February 2017. The day after the fire, the rebuild began, and we opened as TAKOI exactly six months later in August 2017.

    I cannot recommend this place enough. First time coming here and the experience was phenomenal. We were seated immediately with our reservation. Server was nice and attentive. Every course was great. Started with chive cake and moved on to the mango salad. The salad was exceptional with a great balance of flavors. Entrees were fried noodles and the mushroom. We even had the dessert. Every single course was a banger. Bonus points for having so many vegan and gluten free options as my girlfriend is both I definitely would return.

    This spot is amazing! My friend from Chicago recommended this spot and I’d recommend to more people. I had the scallop ceviche and it was the perfect balance of spice and acidity and the scallops themselves were so tasty with a subtle sweetness. The pork tomahawk was phenomenal and perfectly cooked- a warm and cool bite. My favorite dish was the Rescoldo Beets- so addicting I wish I would have taken one to go. This place really knows what they’re doing. Not only was the food great but the service was excellent which made the experience even better. I can’t wait to come back here!

    Ladder 4 is by far my favorite restaurant every time I go I have an even better experience. Every one who works there is friendly, thoughtful and knowledgeable. Our server Sarah was amazing and just added to the experience. We went to celebrate my birthday and my dad’s birthday and the food, wine and the yummy dessert created a wonderful atmosphere to celebrate!
