- CCarolNew York City •4 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoWe received a voucher for Blackfriars for Christmas. Booking was easy online. We arrived slightly early but our table was ready. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived and enjoyed the background music. Service was very good and we asked if we could mix and match between the menu’s and they said it was fine to do that. We ordered the fish platter to share which was really nice. I ordered the fillet steak, it was perfectly cooked to the way I like it and the chips were amazing, I ordered the beef dripping jus which was delicious. My husband ordered the corn fed chicken, again this was delicious. We had no room for desert so can’t comment on that. My husband also had the larger brewed onsite which he said was very nice. Only fault I would say is they put a service charge of 10% on your bill but it is explained it is not mandatory. Definitely will be back.More infoBlackfriars RestaurantPrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.6
- SStephanieCumbria •1 review5.0Dined 4 days agoStaff at front of house when entering were very welcoming, our table was ready for us so we sat and they came with menus and gave us time to get sorted before coming back for a drink order. Then again for food order. Everything was done with a smile. Food came and was amazing and well presented both of us cleared our plates (both had the steak frites as main then I had apple and rhubarb crumble and husband had ice-cream for pudding) Asked if everything had been ok at end of our meal which it was. Warm welcome as always, great cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and great selection of real ales. Delicious flat iron steak cooked to perfection. Can’t recommend this establishment enough.More infoThe Stag Inn Low CrosbyPrice: Moderate• Pub• Carlisle•4.9

Decent portions too, served with a smile 5*More infoWilliam De PercyPrice: Moderate• Contemporary French• Newcastle upon Tyne•4
- CCarolNewcastle and Northumberland •7 reviews5.0Dined on Jan 29, 2025As always, the food here is outstanding. We had the lunchtime set menu, and don’t know how they can provide such high quality at such an affordable price. The service is friendly and efficient, it’s a lovely place to sit in, and it never disappoints. Today we had the butternut squash crumble to start; a generous portion to warm up a cold day, and the gravadlax which was delicious. Then we both had the pork, in a rich sauce with smooth potato purée and leeks, and ordered some extra vegetables on the side. Everything was perfect. As it’s such great value we had to have desserts: crème au chocolat with cinnamon beignets, and iced parfait with red wine prunes. The whole meal felt balanced, satisfying without being too heavy, and everything had flavour, texture and attractive presentation. We will, of course, be back.More infoBouchon Bistrot - HexhamPrice: Expensive• French• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.9
