We came to Kip’s Tavern on our last night in Rhinebeck. It was one of the highlights of our travels throughout Upstate NY. An unassuming, relaxed restaurant in an old house with a bar that sits at the bottom of a hill next to the Rhinebeck train station in Rhinecliff, alongside the Hudson River. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. Service was impeccable and friendly, the menu was creative but relatable, and the food was simple and delicious. We shared the appetizer Pigs in Blankets which were rolled in Everything Bagel seasoning and served with spicy mustard that had a fresh kick (horseradish?). And both had chicken paillard with arugula salad with cherry tomatoes. So simple, so fresh. And shared the cheesecake dessert-outstanding. Even the decaf coffee was so good I was amazed it wasn’t caffeinated. Then afterwards we got in our steps by walking up the pedestrian bridge that crossed the railroad tracks. A good way to end a perfect vacation and dinner while watching the sun set over the Hudson.

Beautiful pre revolutionary house turned into a restaurant. Fireplaces and wood beams send you back in time. I had sliced steak with a twice baked potato The steak was cooked perfectly and the potato, delicious. Service is always friendly and more than competent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
