Shrimp and grits meal was delicious and the service was excellent.

We were excited to go to the Nittany Lion Inn with another couple for the first time since they reopened a few months ago. Our server, Timothy, was professional and courteous. The food was pricey and a solid B. When it was time to receive the check, we asked to have the bill divided, and our server said, “That isn’t our policy, but since it’s not busy tonight, I can probably do that for you.” Having lived in this college town for most of my life, this is the first place we’ve been to that doesn’t have that “policy.” And, as we were preparing to leave, another server tossed a cleaning rag onto a table near us as she was walking by—a toss of about 8 feet. We found this peculiar in a restaurant that purports to be “upscale.”

Exceptional food with a welcoming atmosphere. Several of their menu items were unavailable, which was disappointing. Our table on the porch was quiet and lovely. I had a draft at my back which was annoying, but not enough to prompt me to be moved elsewhere. The food was delicious, served with a delightful presentation. We will definitely be back!

We had our friend’s Christmas dinner gathering. Elias was our server and he was great. Nice, patient and helpful with decisions. He accommodated my request for whipped ricotta with the Charcuterie. All of our meals were delicious. I had the Pork Osso Buco and it was amazing. Some of the meals were very small portions, especially for the cost. The Nittany Lion Tail cocktail was a perfectly balanced drink.

We received excellent service during our visit, which was to celebrate my birthday. The young man at the host podium was incredibly kind and accommodating to my 80 year old mother, who I has mobility issues. This set the tone for a lovely dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, making recommendations when asked and taking extra care. Our food was delicious and interesting. We especially loved the rolls and butter with flaky maldon salt, the carrot soup and the fisherman risotto. This is the place to celebrate or just enjoy a special meal with exceptional service.
