On May 13, 1931, Giuseppe Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice. Over the years, Harry's Bar has become the place where writers, painters, artists, aristocrats, kings, and queens would meet. Among them were: Barbara Hutton, Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Giancarlo Menotti, Peggy Guggenheim, Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, Joe DiMaggio, Truman Capote, and Ernest Hemingway. The keys to the success of this small bar were: service, freedom, and lack of imposition.Throughout its 93-year history, Harry's Bar has witnessed the 20th century in Venice. Its importance was also recognized by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, which declared it a national reference point in 2001. No other public place in Italy had received the same award in the same century.

    We dined Saturday night a few days ago. From the moment we were greeted at the door to our fabulous waiter Daniel,  we had the most magical evening well in Venice.  Not only was the food outstanding from beginning to end and truly Venetian,  but Daniel took great pride and sharing all the details about each course and what we were dining with a twinkle and his eyes. We really felt like we were generally being taken care of as if we went to his home.  His helper, always had our service set up and water needs attended to. Daniel made excellent recommendations, including a special spritz that we’ve never tried anywhere else.  The eggplant Parmesan, raw seafood risotto, pasta with two types of tomato sauce that was heavenly and an ethereal cheesecake dessert that look like a rose with rose flavoring and punctuated with fresh ginger along with my husband’s remarkable tiramisu, all made for delicious dinner. The restaurant is welcoming, beautiful, and the ambience is relaxed with minimal noise. Everything felt effortless from beginning to end. Thank you again for such a special meal while we visited Venice!  We look forward to returning on our next visit to Venice!

    The food was beautifully presented, refined, and full of delicate flavors. The service was warm, professional, and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the evening. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet relaxed, allowing us to fully enjoy the beauty and charm of Venice. It was unforgettable dining experience.
