Barbetta is also New York's oldest Italian restaurant and the oldest restaurant in the Theater District. This three-fold distinction has earned it landmark status by the Locali Storici d'Italia. In a glittering interior decorated with 18th century Italian antiques Barbetta serves the cuisine of Piemonte, Italy's northwestern most region. In summer, its exuberantly verdant garden with century-old trees and scented with the blooms of wisteria, oleander, jasmine and gardenia make it a most sought-after site for al fresco dining.

La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

Carmines is a wonderful experience. It's vibrant and noisy, like a family style Italian restaurant should be! The food is lovely and the portions are huge. Honestly, don't over order, although you can take left overs to fo. Our server, Diandra , was really efficient and friendly and although she was incredibly busy, she was so helpful and kind. Would definitely visit again when in NYC.

Excellent from arrival to departure. Outstanding service, attention to detail, and then of course, the food! We were a party of three. One chose the Sinfonia di Paste and loved all three pastas that were offered. One had the lasagna special that was excellent, but huge! I had the Galleto al forno - roasted chicken. I am a chicken snob and I loved this one. It was a simple, but delicious half chicken with perfectly crispy skin and tender, juicy meat throughout. The mushroom risotto was also excellent. All of our meals were started with a delicious Caesar salad. My biggest complaint about Caesars is the overabundance of dressing, but this one had the perfect amount. It was full of garlic with lovely small bites of romaine. The service was attentive, but unobtrusive. We ate at Becco before going to the theater, arriving at 5:00 before a 7:00 show. The timing was perfect.

While the menu isn’t very broad, everything we ordered was delicious. Prices for a NYC restaurant were very reasonable. Several recipes passed down multiple generations originally from Sicily.
