The Chefs Menu was amazing, phenomenal food, great blend of flavors.

Dined alone at the bar and ordered way too much food for one person. I have NO REGRETS. Everything I had was at least an 8 out of 10. The short rip hummus was the show-stopper; you must order this or you blew it. Hamachi Crudo was piquant and perfectly balanced. The chorizo-stuffed dates were sharp and vibrant and rich- I only needed one of these and that was a lot. The other knockout was the watermelon and tomato salad. I suspect this will be off the menu soon due to seasonality- get it while you can! I didn’t find any cocktails I loved. Lots of clear liquor like gin and vodka. The vesper was a little too “dry” for my tastes. The date old-fashioned was a one-trick pony that lacked depth and heft. I’ll try more cocktails if I come back with another person, as I believe in the craftsmanship of this place. I sat at the bar and the service was a rotating cast of whomever was available to take my order between making drinks and waiting on a few nearby tables. The fellas were friendly and helpful. No complaints at all about the service. Overall my first experience at Avec was overwhelmingly positive and I plan to return next time I’m in Chicago.

This was my second time here. Honestly it was one of the best dining experiences I have had in years, and in my opinion of the finest restaurants in all of Chicago. The dishes are brilliantly conceived and prepared, especially their seafood items. My party each had two drinks, a small plate, and an entree. We shared everything. Every single component of our meal and drink I would rate a 10/10, which I don’t say lightly. We wanted to give our highest compliments to the chef and team at Tanta for providing us an unforgettable dining experience here!

Food and drinking were great, service even better. Michael took care of us, he was very knowledgeable on the menu and helped me with my gluten allergy. My friend and I had a great time and will be back!
