Down Island is a chef-owned and family-operated restaurant! It is the brainchild of Chef Brannon Janca, co-founder of Stinky’s Fish Camp, combining Janca's passion for modern-casual dining and Gulf South cuisine to create a fun, creative and inviting atmosphere for all. Our menu highlights fresh Gulf fish, oysters, shrimp and crab and we have plentiful raw bar selections, including our specialty wood-fired oysters prepared in our Italian brick pizza oven. One of our owners, Stefani, is also a registered dietitian, so Down Island is one of the most accommodating restaurants in our area for any special diet or allergy.     We dined as a party of four and everyone had a great meal. The appetizers and drinks were the perfect start to the meal and the ambiance with a window view could not be beaten.     Absolute favorite of all the places we’ve gone this trip! From ginger dressing on the salad (I could have bottled it up and drank it!) to the steak and fresh wasabi (insane, must try!) to Kaisen fried rice, shishito peppers, and the sashimi and nigiri- everything was perfect! Our waiter took the best care of us! Thank you so much Chance, we loved all of your recommendations!! The Ube soft serve with white chocolate shell was stuff dreams are made of!

    We loved all the food that we ordered! Our table order crab legs, Wagyu filet, Mahi Mahi, fried shrimp basket, and oysters, sour dough bruschetta, BBQ shrimp, and pork belly for appetizers. We sat upstairs but there was a very large party that was very noisy. Our food came out really fast and our waitress was amazing! Of course the noise is not the restaurant’s fault. We would definitely recommend it to our family and friends!

    Our wait person made the birthday lunch perfect! Her name is Halle. I asked her to spell it for me as I wanted to give her cudos! Even the baby crying at the next table did not curtail her cheerfulness and professionalism. The food was great and the free dessert was amazing. My guest shared it with me. Thank you for a job well done!
