Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

Last night we finally made it to Ember Steak Seafood Sushi and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and vibrant without feeling overly loud or crowded. The lighting, music, cocktails, and overall vibe made it feel like the perfect place for a date night or special evening out. Our waitress, Jenni, was phenomenal. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and gave excellent recommendations throughout the evening that honestly made the experience even better. We started with “The Little Embers” Deviled Eggs appetizer, and they were incredible — a perfect way to kick off the meal. For entrées, my wife ordered the Duck Chasseur and I had the Ember Surf & Turf with the 6oz filet mignon paired with the Umami Rush Roll sushi. Everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The filet was tender and flavorful, and the sushi paired surprisingly well with the steak for a unique combination that absolutely worked. Dessert was a chocolate mousse treat with caramel drizzle that we shared, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The wine and cocktails were spot on all night, and every detail of the experience felt thoughtful and polished. Between the food, atmosphere, and outstanding service, Ember easily earned a spot on our list of favorite Williamsburg restaurants. We’ll definitely be back. 🔥🍷

We have been to Kings Arms numerous times over 40 years. Each time is worth every penny. Both the food and experience. This time we were so happy to have John again as our server. We have been away for 3 years , we were so glad to see he is still at Kings Arms. We hope that as we continue to return for our 45th visit in our 4oth year of marriage we continue to see him here. He is so full of knowledge and good humor.
