The menu is designed as a tapas experience, one where diners embark with shareable small plates, pinxtos and cheese and charcuterie before progressing to larger plates which revere alpine flavors. Colorado lamb pops, elk tartare and local flat iron steak are just a few of the many. In the mood for a traditional dish with distinguished Vail flare? Try Chef Tyson's fried chicken with barrel-aged Fresno hot sauce. Embellish your selections with supplements including a caviar tin, Hovey & Harrison hearth bread, and a winter truffle.
Food was very disappointing. Tuna tapas tasteless. Salmon very ordinary. Cauliflower disappointment. Overpriced for the tasteless food!
Food was great! Service was excellent! Hidden gem in the village!
Great service, fun menu selection for sharing. Would have liked for the small plates to serve 4 instead of 3 bites...however food was very good and enjoyed the varied selection.
The food was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. We loved the Tapas menu style. We were a party of three but we ordered 4 apps, a cheese plate, and two entrees. (Price - not cheap, but fair for food of this quality in Vail)
Great food with a Spanish twist. The service was great too. But, the prices are high, courtesy of Vail.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere
Excellent food tapas style
Very pleasant surroundings
Excellent and friendly service
(But I would not pay for the bread unless you are are assured that it’s fresh that day and even then I’m not sure it’s worth it. Basically it’s like any bread you get in restaurant but ours was stale and they charge $10 for half a small loaf and $18 for the full small loaf )
Food was excellent! And our server Ferris was fantastic. His knowledge and professional demeanor made our experience great. Thank you!
Define tapas. Coming from Europe you would expect small plates with Spanish specialties. Tho was not the case here. We’ve been recommended 3-4 plates per person, and the amount of food was enormous. If it at least was tasty... Chef’s fried chicken was a huge portion of deep fried pieces in sweet kind of pastry. Everything we ordered was oily, except the risotto which was very good and would have been enough for the two of us. And why do you ask how we would like our lamb pops to be cooked if you don’t bother about the answer?
Great food and service!!!
Service, price and atmosphere did not meet food quality. Food was good but when I commit to a nice dinner and expect to pay $200 plus for a party of two I expect the wait staff to be staffed appropriately, take their time explaining a complex menu and cater to the customer. None of these things happened during our visit. The wait staff was rushed, rude and would have been better suited for a Denny’s. Good news was that the food was good. The Sebastian Hotel should rethink who they partner with because Leonora was disappointing to be attached to such a high end, boutique hotel experience.
It was so fun to order many different dishes and share! Each dish was nicely prepared and absolutely delicious. The ambiance was perfect and the staff was attentive!
Not a recomendad restaurante
None of the plates we ordered were good
Don’ t waste your money
Food was very mediocre. Either no flavor or too much. Service was not great. We ordered drinks and they never arrived. No one even apologized.
Great food and service but lackluster ambiance. Overall one of the finer in hotel dining options in the village
We have been to Leonora many times over the past years. We enjoyed the change in menu to dishes that can be shared and tried quite a few things on this visit. Everything was very good, but the lamb lollipops were particularly delicious. Friendly and super attentive service. Highly recommended.
Not wort going
We have been to Leonora a couple of times in the past and enjoyed it. This was a very disappointing experience. The food was really quite mediocre. All of the many dishes we had ranged from OK to not very good. In particular, we ordered what was said to be Wagyu beef with 7 peppercorn sauce. Our enjoyment of both Wagyu beef and peppercorn sauces made us feel that the $36 price might be justified for a small plate. It was completely ordinary at best. The beef was surely NOT Wagyuit tasted like a mediocre cut of beef, and a couple of the few slices were pure grizzle or fat. The sauce was also a very ordinary Bordelaise type of sauce with no hint of any peppercorns, not to mention 7. This is kind of how it went with all of the dishes. Also, 2 of the 3 of us had upset stomachs the next day. The place is very pricey, so your expectations are very high. For these prices, they don't even give you any bread, unless you choose to pay $10 or $18 for some. And the service was a big disappointment. I had what was one of the most insulting service experiences I've ever had, with our waiter. Toward the later part of the meal, my daughter ordered a second cocktail, and we had a clear view of the bar and could see it sitting there for some time, not being delivered. Meanwhile, our waiter was loudly talking to the people at the next table, basically "selling" them on the idea of buying a condo at the resort that the restaurant is in, and referring them to someone he knew who could arrange the purchase. Toward the very end of our meal, he finally showed up with the cocktail. When I commented that the drink had taken a long time to get to our table, he said, "Yes, it did", and walked away.. We assumed it was his plan to comp the drink, but he did not. I wish we had remembered his name, so the restaurant could talk to him, but he was a slim grey-haired guy with a bit of grey facial hair. I think you can get a better experience, especially for your money, in Vail.
We have been coming to Vail for many years and we love trying new restaurants. This was a wonderful surprise. We were warmly greeted by Julieta. Cameron, our waiter, guided us through the tapas menu. The endive salad was excellent. We tried the shrimp and beef skewers, favoring the beef and the shrimp was also great. I ordered the elk tartare, which is not for everyone, and loved the pairing with the blueberries. The flourless molten chocolate cake knocked it out of the park. This is my favorite restaurant so far this week. We will definitely be back.
We really enjoy the small plate/sharing concept and Leonora has really nailed it. Every aspect if the dining experience was an A+!
Everything put to the lips of this reviewer was tasty and delicious. Some in my party did not feel the same way. Not everything on the menu we wanted was available. Our party’s shared frustration and disappointment on the dining experience was not the food but rather the ambiance and the server. Server was weirdly hostile towards some of us for reasons unknown. Why? It made no sense. It affected our experience. Though she asked if we had any questions, she did not care to answer or advise on menu selections, as an example. She did not care to be helpful or to extend to us a pleasant dining experience. The banquette table was for six but we added a seventh, and it was still too large and spread out for a sharing kind of of dinner. The small plates for sharing had no serving pieces, so we had to use our personal forks and knives to cut up and self serve, meaning shared germs as well. The banquette is very large, the ceiling high, and the ambiance cold. We had to shout across the table to talk to each other. On the positive side, in addition to the food, the hostess who seated us was delightful and pleasant, and the table runners were earnest and sweet. But the server’s service negatively outweighed. On the whole, for an expensive dinner out for a vacation weekend night, we vowed never again Leonora.
Loved the chicken empanadas and the shrimp al ajillo.
This is a hidden gem in Vail Village, highly recommended you try asap.
Food was creative, well thought out and amazing.
The manager abruptly reprimanded us for taking too long to order, warning us that she had another sitting for the table in an hour. We were never told we had limited time at the table, nor is it expected at this level of restaurant. We were rushed and ended not enjoying our rather pricey dinner. We arrived at 6:00 and left at 7:30, ridiculous for a party of nine that ordered four bottles of wine and full dinner menu. Many other excellent places to dine in Vail with great service and much better and funner ambience. Do not recommend it, definitely not going back.
Every dish was well thought out and we'll executed. We really enjoyed everything. We recommend Leonora highly.
This is a mediocre review. I have to say that in all my travels, I've never seen an $18 bread option. Be careful.
Really, other then the excellent Ono Crudo, which was quite tiny, everything was mediocre. We ordered their signature Snapper Dish. It was reasonably priced for what it was. However, the snapper was overly headed and fried too long, so the dish was about the breading, not the wonderful fish.
Yes, it was Valentine's day, but the restaurant was not overwhelmed in any way.
I'm so sorry to leave this apositive review.
We had a wonderful time! Great place to get together for a special dinner in vail
It’s a lovely place
What a great group event!!!
Excelente ambiente! Comida insuperable! De los mejores tapeos que comi alguna vez. Servicio impecable. Altamente recomendable
Really awesome restaurant
Love this place! I've been coming here over 2 years now and each time leave happy and satisfied! The food is always perfectly cooked, I've had nothing but excellent experiences with the service, and the ambiance is relaxing - just what you need after a long day of skiing. Every time I've eaten here, I order the octopus. Without fail it is perfectly cooked every time, tender and melts like butter in your mouth. Mmmmm
Great service and wonderful, interesting food in a beautiful hotel - The Sebastian!
Nice atmosphere, excellent service. Cocktails is a bit overpriced. Food is average compared to other fine dinning options in Vail.
Quiet night in the restaurant. We ordered 7 different items from the menu. Everything was delicious although he best was the Manhattan steak and the cauliflower. Octopus was a little chewy and scallops a bit bland. Service was awesome and we left very satisfied.
Great meal at Leonora! We celebrated our anniversary in a wonderful atmosphere with great service.
The waitress was very attentive. The food was outstanding, with well executed variety. Great wine selection.
Great place and very good people. The food is quite good- highlight being the fried chicken tapa (its all about tapas here) accompanied by the cute little bottle of proprietary hot sauce. Very strong wine list. Although centrally located, this place is somewhat hidden in the depths of a big hotel. This means they need to work extra hard and live by their reputation. Really worth a try.
