This restaurant was second to none. We loved it so much that we would often drive from out of town just to celebrate special events there. This time after we made a special trip, we arrived to find the doors locked and the lights off. A neighbor told us that the restaurant had closed its doors 10 days before. We called and I believe we spoke to the proprietor, a lovely woman. Her niece was to have told those with reservations that the restaurant had closed, but we were not informed. The only reason for a one star is to let Open Table know that the restaurant is no longer operational and should be removed from the system.

I made a Thursday night reservation two weeks in advance. We showed up on time and found the restaurant closed. We called the restaurant's phone number and a woman answered. She said she saw the reservation but said the restaurant was closed. She didn't even offer an apology for the inconvenience. We spent two hours driving each way into and out of Chicago. They obviously had my phone number but for some reason couldn't be bothered letting us know in advance that they were closed on the night of our reservation. The valet for an adjoining restaurant said that at least twenty people were turned away the previous night for the same reason. For management as seasoned in the restaurant business as the Liccioni's, failing to notify confirmed reservation holders of the restaurant's closure is inexcusable.

The restaurant closed permanently on the night of our long awaited reservation. We are sorry that happened but there is no excuse for not informing anyone with reservations that evening of the closing. Open Table was not notified to my knowledge and we were left scrambling to find a place to eat for our anniversary dinner. Thanks to the Capital Grille for taking care of us that evening. We will miss Les Nomades. It was a special place for a very long time.

Stepping across the threshold of Les Nomades is akin to entering into a perfect world where you are nurtured, fed and very much impressed. The excellence of the service and food puts miles between them and other fine dining experiences. The melding of flavors is like being swaddled in cashmere, the elegance of the room is like visiting Royalty and watching Mary Bet and her staff exceed expectations is always great fun.
