A wonderful dining experience for a special occasion
We live in the neighborhood, and this is our special occasion restaurant. The food is delicious. This is a top notch traditional French restaurant.
Great restaurant, great menu, great food, nice wine list and great service from reception at the door to the table itself. Just a pleasurable dining expeience and we will be going back.
Outstanding food and service
delicious food and great treats for intermezzo & amuse bouche & dessert. Lots of stairs. I was very surprised with a birthday treat too.
Service and food terrific. The staff recognized our anniversary. Very special
We three asked for Chef's Whim, 5 courses, and we each got a different dish. Gorgeous food, lovely service, great wines.
Excellent meal, but pricey. However we can honestly say it was one of the best meals we have ever had. Each course was delicious and unique. I like that it was a prix fix menu, where you get the choice of what you want for each course. There is the option to order a la cart but I think the multi-course meal is totally worth it. Service was warm and welcoming. We will absolutely dine here again.
Absolutely delightful and delicious. Super accommodating. While they have an extensive wine list, our server did not push anything. When told that we wanted a lighter red wine with a price that started with a “1”, he suggested a pinot noir at $110 that was a wonderful accompaniment to our meal. We spent three hours there, but the time passed so quickly as we savored the food, soaked in the atmosphere, and were pampered with unobtrusive service. My only comment, and this may be me, is that the tasty sauces on the halibut and duck confit seemed a bit too strong and didn’t let the fish/duck flavor come through fully. We will return!
When you seek an extraordinary dining experience, this is the place. Excellent ambiance, superbly trained and knowledgeable service staff, gifted kitchen execution. This is a must-visit restaurant.
Excellent service and food. The four course menu we selected was outstanding along with the wine pairing.
Excellent food and service
We have been to Les Nomades many time and we have never been disappointed. Rather, every component of every dish is superb. Classic French cuisine at its best!!!!
We celebrated our 25th anniversary at Les Nomades 7/20. The ambiance is lovely, beautiful flowers, soft antique lighting. Mary Beth Liccioni welcomes all guests. The food was inventive, so full of flavor and beautifully plated. We look forward to returning on our next special occasion.
My wife and I celebrated our twenty fifth wedding anniversary at the restaurant. The service was friendly and unobtrusive.
The menu had a large prefixed menu to choose from or go choose the number of courses to choose.
Overall just a wonderful dining experience.
Absolutely wonderful, everything I had hoped and more. Will be back.
We used to enjoy Le Nomades for birthdays and anniversary celebrations when we lived in Chicago. Our first time back since we moved away 10 years ago and it is still wonderful. Service and ambiance like very few restaurants in the US these days. A complete pleasure to enjoy again.
Les Nomades defines "fine dining." The requirement that men wear jackets is refreshing in this day and age of men wearing shorts and backwards baseball caps at dinner. The food was, as usual, impeccable, as was the service. We love this restaurant.
An exceptional meal, every morsel delectable. Impeccable service in a lovely venue. The mushroom soup was a highlight of an extraordinary meal.
Elegant as usual. Excellent food and service and wine recommendation was right on.
Not cheap but probably the best restaurant in town. Much better than Alinea or the Everest room. Excellent traditional French cuisine in an elegant setting.
They made our anniversary feel very special
The food was absolutely wonderful! All courses were excellent, but the Crispy tempura soft shell crab appetizer was the highlight of the meal.
The waiter was exceptional and the noise level was good. My family and I were easily able to talk without noise from other tables bothering us.
It is expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion. (We stayed at Hotel EMC2, which is right next door, to make it even more of a special occasion.)
I highly recommend Les Nomades and can't wait to go back.
It’s magical and perfection!
Oh dear. This place tries so hard to be upscale but just comes across as awkward, stuffy and pretentious. $65 for 2 gins with flat tonic water and a kir royale - are they actually joking?! Snobbery of expense doesn’t excuse poor quality. From the minute we walked in we felt very awkward and unwelcome - 5/6 people who worked there near the entrance way but had to wait for several awkward seconds before one person came from the back and greeted us. Just plain odd. I should have trusted my instincts and walked straight out again.
The most expensive meal we’ve ever had (relatively for the amount of people) in Chicago and so so disappointing. Menu idea was nice, with different prix fixe menu options. Appetisers - pate was ok, risotto was alright, foie gras...meh like processed into a weird shape. Deuxieme mushrooms soup was tasty at first but overall far too salty and truffle was non-existent. Short rib main was a tiny tiny piece and the duck was very gamey and again all far too salty which detracted significantly from the dishes. Cheese was lovely but then, they didn’t have to do anything to it but put it on the plate. We also got a post menu melon soup and mignardises which was a nice touch but again nothing but simply “ok” which for the price is terrible. As a total foodie, I will pay exceptionally well for exceptionally good food but this is astronomical prices for mediocre food at best.
Honestly, having spent the better part of twenty years on and off in France...it is weeping at the shocking misuse of its cuisine at the ridiculous prices that are charged here. Cheaper to go to France and eat there and fly back again.
In my opinion, the best restaurant in Chicago. In this unfortunate era of "casual dining" and sloppy dressing, it is wonderful to find a restaurant that actually has a dress code and maintains an elegant surrounding for its guests. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting outstanding food and service in a beautiful dining room. Easy to highly rate this restaurant.
I can't say enough good things about Les Nomades. It is everything I look for in a special occasion restaurant. The staff are delightful, the food is extraordinary, the presentation is perfection and it's such a treat to be able to have quiet conversation while enjoying a lovely meal.
Excellent food and service. Very quiet atmosphere. Enjoyed our dinner and would return
One of Chicago's best restaurants. The food and service are always excellent.
Interesting menu, well prepared food, nicely presented. Excellent, attentive staff. Invitingly atmosphere. Yes, there is a price point; but, it's worth the whole experience.
This is absolutely my favorite restaurant. The food, ambiance and staff are truly amazing.
Les Nomades is a classic and unique dining experience.
Uno de los 5 mejores experiencias culinarias de mi vida! Hacen falta estrellas para calificarlo
Amazing service and food was fantastic. Highly recommend the experience.
Still the best French food in Chicago. Straightforward classic cuisine. I had the assorted pates-perfect.Four small pates. That and the best soufflé in America makes the evening. Very fine reasonably priced wine list if you know French wines.
Les Nomades continually delivers everything you would want in a great French restaurant.
Impeccable service. I was a bit scared by all the silverware but did not feel judged. Great wine offerings. I absolutely loved the mushroom soup, and asparagus risotto. One item from each course was perfect. The lamb is perfect. Even my date who doesn't like lamb was very impressed. My only complaint was the grand mariner souffle was way too alcoholic for me. Go with the passion fruit!
First, the food was fantastic. If you're in the mood for a great meal, absolutely go. If, on the other hand you are also in the mood to enjoy the company of friends, go anywhere else. We have dined out with the same couple at least 10 times a year for many years and last Saturday at Nomades, we were "shhh'd" for the first time. The restaurant really isn't that quiet but the occasional laughter at our table was too much for management and they told us to keep it down. We're all in our middle 50's but we brought the average age down by a lot. Mostly old fossils who don't appreciate anyone enjoying each other rather than just the food. The place is a bit full of themselves. We made a mental note to come back when we're 80 and using walkers... To top off the evening, we waited for 20 minutes for our car at the restaurant's valet station. One final bit is the guy with the shaved head who seated us was smelled like an ashtray. Disgusting.
