Don Mills

Fiesta twice daily — yes, including weekends. Añejo at CF Shops at Don Mills has built its reputation on Canada’s largest tequila selection (over 200 labels, curated by in-house sommeliers) and a happy hour programme that genuinely earns the word: $7.50 margaritas, $4 classic tacos, and half-price tequila across the entire list — top shelf included. The restaurant draws its inspiration from the rich culture of Jalisco and Central Mexico, pairing its agave focus with bold, elevated Mexican cuisine: tableside guacamole assembled with signature salt mix, birria tacos, a molcajete de carne, and coconut shrimp alongside shareable starters for the table. The lively, personality-rich interior — set in the upscale CF Shops at Don Mills, close to the Ontario Science Centre and the Toronto Botanical Garden — transforms from a buzzy lunch spot to a proper late-night destination with DJs in full swing. For sheer happy hour value in Toronto, few come close.

Entertainment District

Fox on John has staked its claim as Toronto’s top 1 happy hour destination — and with both an afternoon and a late-night programme running every week, the Entertainment District pub makes a compelling case. The weekday Heaven til 7 happy hour brings Sapporo beer, premium spirits, and savoury bites at special prices, while the nightly AfterD9rk session (from 9 pm until late) offers drinks from $5.95 and $10 doubles alongside live DJs setting the mood. Midweek specials add extra value: Wednesdays bring $15 pastas and half-price wine bottles; Thursdays go all-day; Sundays run half-price wine all day; and Mondays deliver $8 martinis and buck-a-shuck oysters. The pub sits steps from the Rogers Centre and the CN Tower, with a crowd-pleasing menu of wings, burgers, pastas, and sharing platters built for long sessions. The rooftop patio delivers CN Tower views that genuinely don’t get old. For a happy hour bar in Toronto that covers all the bases, Fox on John is hard to beat.

I went back to Fox on John with a friend yesterday and took advantage of their taco Tuesday and 1/2 off Margaritas. It was great and I'll definitely be back. This is turning into my go to place for drinks after work.

King West

Earls King West offers a happy hour programme worth planning around. The modern American kitchen backs a daily happy hour that sees the restaurant’s beloved margarita selection, cocktails, and bar bites offered at reduced prices across three distinct outdoor patio spaces, including the stunning four-season rooftop solarium above the King West strip. The menu features yuzu calamari, a Queen Bee pizza, sesame citrus noodle bowls, and a seafood tower alongside the brand’s industry-leading cocktail programme. The space itself is a draw: designer Turner Fleischer honoured the building’s heritage bones with exposed brick, hardwood floors, open rafters, and a retro neon sign that is unavoidable from the street. Weekend brunch and three outdoor patios make Earls King West one of King West’s most versatile dining and drinking addresses — happy hour included.

Steakhouse
King West

Happy hour doesn’t get more literally elevated than this. Aera occupies the 38th floor of The Well at King and Spadina — a sky-high steakhouse, sushi counter, and cocktail bar from Oliver & Bonacini — and its daily happy hour offers specially priced drinks against panoramic views of the downtown skyline. The rest of the operation matches the setting’s ambition: premium cuts from US Prime, Wellington County AAA, and Australian Wagyu, a dedicated sushi programme, and comfort-forward dishes like maple-marinated sablefish. In summer, the Open Aera rooftop terrace adds a 4,500-square-foot seasonal deck for cocktails, tuna crunch rolls, and empanadas under the open sky, while Friday and Saturday evenings bring DJs and bottle service. For a midweek escape or an excuse to indulge at altitude, Aera’s happy hour awaits.

King West

Lulu Bar took up residence in The Well in 2024 and immediately became one of King West’s most beloved newcomers — a Pacific-inspired escape that blends Southeast Asian, Polynesian, and West Coast influences into a cohesive, sun-drenched dining experience that works equally well for a business lunch and a birthday celebration. The Honolulu happy hour, running daily from 3 to 6 pm, is one of the best values in the city, offering $12 crushable cocktails, $7 draft beers, wine specials, and bites starting at $4. On Sundays it extends from 11:30 am to 6 pm, with $10 cocktails and 50% off all wine. The shareable menu is built for communal eating: BBQ crispy half duck, Vietnamese rare beef tataki, mussels in red curry coconut broth, and Thai sausage with lemongrass and herbs. The warm tropical room — wood accents, lush greenery, oversized fixtures — transports diners far from a Toronto winter. Concorde Entertainment Group’s owners built it as a vacation. It feels like one.

French
King West

This Southern French brasserie at The Well makes the case that happy hour is best practised the way the French do it: with oysters, cold wine, and absolutely no rushing. The daily happy hour offers $10 cocktails, $6 select beer pints, half-priced bottles of wine and bubbles, and select glasses of wine from $10. Half-price oysters — sourced from Oyster Boy — run alongside the drinks programme. Tuesdays and Wednesdays bring half-price wine bottles all day, and Thursdays through Saturdays a Bonne Nuit late-night programme kicks in after 9 pm with affordable sips, bar bites, and live DJ sets in the hidden Bonne Nuit speakeasy below. The two-level space — designed with decorative brass mullions, statement lighting, and a light-flooded indoor-outdoor terrasse — is the O&B group’s most beautiful room. Signatures include classic French onion soup, steak frites, duck confit, and the rotisserie cauliflower salad that regular guests refuse to skip. Come for the oysters; stay for the wine list.

This was our first visit to La Plume. Came in for lunch. It was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our server, Austin was very warm and welcoming as was all the staff. We tried the bruschetta as well as the rotisserie chicken pot pie and the rotisserie chicken pita. It was all delicious. So glad we stopped by. Cannot wait to come back again!

General Public is the most exciting new happy hour destination in the city — a two-level, 100-seat restaurant by celebrated Toronto restaurateur Jen Agg in Dovercourt Village, imagined as what an upscale English pub might look like if it had the heart of an American brasserie. The daily happy hour runs Wednesday through Sunday from 4 to 6 pm and centres on the GP Burger — a petite but deeply considered double-patty cheeseburger with Red Leicester sauce, brisket, white onions, Branston pickle, and a sesame seed bun, served at $21. The cocktail programme is built around a pre-fabricated bar design that gets drinks in hand with maximum speed: a freezer-cold Shotgun martini, a Thai margarita built on tom yum tequila, and the frothy Eton fizz among the highlights. The broader menu spans masala poached eggs, fish and chips, seafood towers, fried pig’s head terrine, and a half rack of lamb. The main floor is all lush banquettes and warm wood; upstairs is a peachy 1980s dream. It’s Toronto’s most talked-about new room.

Mid-century cool meets West Coast comfort at Bridgette Bar in The Well — a chef-driven bar from the Concorde Entertainment Group that has brought Calgary’s most beloved restaurant concept to Toronto with considerable flair. The Matinée happy hour runs daily from 3 to 6 pm with $10 cocktails, $7 draft, 50% off all wood-fired pizzas, and 50% off wine — one of the best value offers in the King West area. Financial District

The Rabbit Hole is the Financial District’s finest British gastropub, showcasing elevated pub fare in a whimsically designed three-level space steps from King Station. The happy hour runs Monday through Saturday, with select draughts at $6.95, wines by the glass from $10, and signature cocktails at $12, plus Tuesdays dedicated entirely to half-price bottles of wine. The kitchen’s proud of its British classics — a perfectly executed Scotch egg, proper fish and chips, steak and ale pie, and a beef Wellington Wednesday that has become a weekly ritual for regulars. The seasonal cocktail list runs to around 40 hand-crafted drinks, from the Ace of Spades (St-Rémy brandy, Amaro Montenegro, blackberry) to the Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, a Beatrix Potter-inspired gin sparkler with passion fruit and rosemary. The lush multi-level patio makes it a summer destination in its own right.

Explore a room designed for the kind of easy, all-day sociability that the Financial District had been quietly craving. The mid-century modern space — all warm leather, rich woods, and a bold retro exterior font — runs happy hour Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 pm and Saturday from 4 to 6 pm, with select beers from $7, mixed drinks from $6, and cocktails and wines from $10 to $11, alongside happy hour bites: prime rib sliders, sushi pizza, and freshly shucked oysters. The all-day Tinis & Taters special — any classic martini paired with golden truffle fries for $20 — is one of the city’s most quotable value propositions. The full menu anchors around USDA prime steaks, Detroit-style pizzas, sushi, handmade pastas, and the All-Dressed smash burger. Three private dining rooms seat up to 60 guests. The Lychee martini, built with Empress 1908 gin and topped with egg white and pea flowers, is a good reason to stay longer than planned.

We had an amazing time at The Joneses, our server Adrian was extremely professional and took really good care of us. We tried the cauliflower house cheese bread, avocado hummus, halibut dish, fried chicken burger, and a double cheeseburger with truffle fries all of which were fantastic. They also have special priced wine by the bottle for game night that I thought was really cool. Highly recommend.

Dovercourt Village

Piano Piano is the kind of exciting Italian restaurant that Toronto’s dining scene needed — and the Bloor Street location on the edge of Dovercourt Village has been proving it since the restaurant’s early days. The Friday through Sunday happy hour, from 3 to 5 pm, covers beer and zero-proof cocktails from $5, wines by the glass and PIANO PIANO signature cocktails from $5 to $15, alongside food specials of snackable and sharing-size dishes — marinated olives, arancini, shrimp cocktail, and calamari fritti — running from $5 to $15. Chef Victor Barry’s kitchen is built on hand-stretched pasta, seasonal Italian ingredients, and a fundamentally generous cooking philosophy that has earned Piano Piano a loyal following across its Toronto locations. The room is warm, comfortable, and genuinely unpretentious — the kind of neighbourhood Italian restaurant that rewards regulars. The name means ‘slowly, slowly’ in Italian, which is precisely the right spirit for a Friday afternoon aperitivo that extends well into the evening.

AMAZING birthday experience. Staff were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. They made suggestions when asked, provided information on the various menus. They even surprised me with a piece of cake and candle for my birthday, which was unexpected. Loved the variety of food options on the menu. Would definitely go back for another occasion. I also love the follow up email I received the day after, inviting us back and that two glasses of Prosecco would be waiting for us, free of charge. Nice touch!
