The booking was made last minute as we needed to find something in E Dulwich which wouldn't be noisy on a Sat night but which was good quality grub. Locale served us well, we ate in buzzy but not loud surroundings. I was surprised at just how quiet it was for a Sat night. The food was good quality and tasty, though servings could have been a bit more generous. We had a gnocci, ravioli and a spaghetti/meatballs pasta. The menu provides a good range of dishes.The service was a little slow, though very pleasant and relaxed. I came away feeling that Locale doesn't quite know what it wants to be, bar, cafe, italian restaurant, place for roast and Sunday lunch? It didn't wow but it was a pleasant place to eat with friends.

Set menu on Valentine meant the vegetarian option was limited. Food excellent value with good service. Need to try again on a normal weekday in the near future before a valid review can be made.

Four of us enjoyed a relaxed meal here on Saturday. The servings were generous and tasty and apart from the risotto we would all be happy to have the dishes again. We were in quite early (7pm) and the staff were clearing up from a big party so the atmosphere was a bit quiet but it warmed up over the next couple of hours. I will be happy to eat here again.

As ever the food at locale in east dulwich was really good. However the service which is normally really good too, was a bit flat on this night. All the staff seemed in a bit of a grump and the service was slow considering how few people were there. Great for kids though.

I am new to East Dulwich and wanted to go somewhere nearby for dinner when family visited. I came across Locale and was not disappointed - it is a nice Italian with a bar and a restaurant. We went there the Saturday before New Years eve and it was very quiet - I think more because of the timing rather than anything to do with the restaurant itself. We couldn't fault the food or service - we had a few starters to share which were very good, and our main course pasta dishes and desserts were also excellent. For 3 courses each and a bottle of wine to share the bill came to c£25 a head which was very good value considering the quality of the food. I would recommend and would definitely go back.

This was our second visit to the East Dulwich branch of Locale. We went on a Monday as it was my birthday treat which happened to coincide with their steak night. I wish I hadn't been swayed by the apparently good value of the steaks and gone for something else on the menu. The focaccia starter was delicious and sides of spinach and fries were excellent but the main event - the steak - was bland, totally tasteless. If I had paid full price I would have been really annoyed. The dessert - chocolate fondant was also pretty bland so we left feeling decidedly underwhelmed. I will go back as I know Locale do lovely food, the service is always excellent and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. Just avoid the steak.

Dined here on a Friday evening with a girlfriend. It was lovely out on the side walk terrace in the sunshine. Our waiter, though a little nervous was friendly and attentive. Great selection on the menu and very reasonably priced. Once small gripe; there are a few pasta dishes that offer a small serving...don't bother. I ordered a small ravioli and was given six pieces! The food however was delicious.
