Food and service was 👍
We have been to Loulay many times. The food is outstanding, without fail.
We loved the experience. The waitress, Hilda, was understanding of our need to not hurry. She allowed us our space to socialize and discuss the menu. The crab beignets were hot, crispy and good. I had a taste of my friend’s French onion soup which was very good, a touch of sweetness added to the wonderfulness of a great soup. Our meals ranged from cod to chicken and we all enjoyed our entrees. But really amazing were the desserts. Huckleberry sorbet and again beignets with creme anglaise, and we were licking the plates. Only complaint, wish there was a broader offering of full bodied Chardonnays had to resort to a rather expensive Montrachet. Most places in Seattle, much to my delight, had really great prices in wine, so much more reasonable than I am used to in So Cal, but the wine prices were a tad higher here. We had dined a few nights ago at Maximilian’s. Great view, but a rather tired menu. Loulay was more edgy and better developed menu.
Odd evening. Reservation was for 5:30 so we could leave by 7 for the theater. Duly noted by server, he’d take care of us.
Drinks, salads all went well. Then it’s 6:30, no entree’s in sight. Looking for our server.
Two entree’s served. I waited, everyone said, Eat. So I ate my halibut, which was delicious.
Then the third entree arrives.
Waiting waiting, finally the fourth entree arrived.
I wish I hadn’t eaten before we were all served. There was no explanation for the poor timing.
They comped all four entree’s which wasn’t necessary. But it was 7:05 before the check arrived. I left to go to the theater, the others waited for payment to take place.
Loulay is one block from ACT.
Our reservation was at 5:30 for a 7:30 curtain. The restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived.
We communicate, then confirmed our timing with the server.
There’s no reason why it should have ended so badly.
Very disappointed. Thank you for comping the entree’s.
I took my mother to Loulay for her birthday.
We had a 6PM reservation. They seated us in the balcony. As time went on, the restaurant went from somewhat busy to slow, and everyone in the balcony cleared out until we were the last ones. I guess everyone else had to get to a show by 7:30PM. The restaurant got a little busier again after 7:30.
The food was very good. I started with the French Onion Soup, and ordered the Short-Rib Bourguignon with a side of fries. The order of fries was huge, but they were very good. I just wanted to sample their fries, and because the short rib dish didn't include a lot of starch, it worked out ok.
We finished up with the Beignets. Each order came with three beignets and a little spoon scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This is a great restaurant for a special occasion, or if you just want to come in for the French Onion and fries.
Excellent, very accommodating, service. Portions are quite small.
3 out of the 4 in our party had delicious meals, short rib Bourguignon, scallops, crab beignet. Unfortunately, the 1 person who ordered the halibut found it to be overcooked and quite dry. We enjoyed very good service and nice selection of wines by the glass. We will definitely go back again.
A perfect evening. Excellent dinner served by Mark, a super server. This was one of those times when it was a grand slam homerun. Completely satisfying.
We go to Loulay two or three times a year, and it's always a treat. The food is top-notch, the menu selections are always amazing, both food and drinks. Service is always cheerful and super-professional. The experience is always memorable and we smile for days afterward.
As usual, a wonderful meal from start to finish. Quality of food and service excellent. This is our go to choice for after the theater. Took friends from Philadelphia this time and they were very impressed!
We came here for brunch for a birthday. Staff was wonderful and helpful with questions for gluten free needs. Food was wonderful.
Excellent food and attentive service. Couldn’t ask for more.
Had another great experience. Excellent food, service, and prices.
Great food excellent service a bit noisy great art
Service to our table of 6 was slow. Our wait person had an attitude.
Even though this restaurant is pricey, the food is creative and delicious! Also the wine list (while also pricey) is excellent. I love this restaurant!
Lovely table on the mezzanine. Servers were prompt and pleasant. Food was outstanding. Overall a delightful start to our evening before going to 5th Ave.
This is the apotheosis of a fine dining experience. Our server was one of the best I have experienced. She asked right off if we had time constraints, and after finding out that we were going to the theater (and that one of our number was playing Snowboy in West Side Story, she advised us as to when and what to order. She guided us through the menu and gave immediate and intelligent answers to our questions. At least one of our party was apprehensive before arriving about the strange combination of ingredients in the entrees. She was encouraged to try the halibut, as did two others of the party. Our actor chose the pork chop on learning that it was more than sufficient in size, and I chose the beef bourguignon. Our choices were right on, as evidenced by there was not a scrap of food left on any plate when we had eaten. Wine and booze selections by the server were perfect, and desserts brought beatific smiles to all. We made all of our time constraints without feeling rushed, and could not have done better.
My portion size for short ribs were on the smaller side. And my partners pork chop could use something starchy mashed like sweet potatoes or turnips... but DELISH!! I’m a FAN
It was our first time there, although the menu wasn’t too big but everything we ordered was PERFECT. So delicious and the staff was super friendly as well. Their coffee was awesome too! 3 girls ordered 5 dishes and we cleaned them all haha! Will def go back again and maybe try out their dinner menu!
Great brunch, love the local fare. The Bloody Marys both the Loulay and Queen Anne were good. The quiche this morning was leeks, mushroom, bacon with a lovely side salad. Farmers Breakfast was also wonderful, were ordered a side of 2 hen eggs which I would recommend to round or the entree. We will return for brunch and next trip try for dinner.
Delicious food a bit slow to get to table Since restaurant was not busy but food was food
Was our 70th birthday. All courses were good. Ran out of room in stomach for more. Food is first rate and served beautifully. Would return again.
Only thing that bothered was super minor. The chairs and table slid around too easily. But that didn’t take away from the experience. The food was amazing and the server was very friendly.
Loulay is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. The meal is always delicious, thoughtfully prepared and tailored to requests. The real treat of dining is the experience, the service is superb and environment is beautiful, clean and welcoming. I've come to Loulay for fully multi-course meals as well as stopped by and sat the bar for an exquisite soy cappuccino (less expensive that Starbucks with a can't beat experience). I LOVE Loulay, the food and experience are a not-to-be missed dining opportunity.
We were there before the theater. We love your restaurant.
French onion soup was excellent, as was the tuna ( nicely rare). The duck confit in cassoulet was flavorful, but truthfully, we've had more tender confit then this one. Had lunch here, will need to try a dinner
As a single diner, I was situated on a perch to overlook the kitchen. Fascinating! Entertaining! The meal was excellent. The short ribs were melt-in-your-mouth.
Simply put: We love Loulays! Absolutely delicious food, authentic with original flourishes. The service is impeccable, the ambiance is elegant with a touch of ‘come as you are’. I believe everyone should try Loulays - and then return again and again... only complaint- they don’t Ubereats to my house...😊
Great food and environment. It got a bit louder as the evening went on, however nothing distracting. The food was beautifully plated and delicious. Waiting staff very professional.
Been here a couple times for dinner and lunch, but this was my first time having Brunch. A bit more expensive than some other a la carte brunches I’ve had in the area, but given the food was of great quality and service was fantastic, the price was acceptable. The eggs Benedict were heavenly, including the side of potatoes (which I normally don’t eat when they come with the dish).
The beignets were very tasty. Shared a plate between all of us and everyone enjoyed.
The mimosa of the day was a lemon and rose mimosa. It was light, refreshing, and delicious!
Service team was on top of everything as well. Never had to ask for anything as the team kept us refilled and happy.
Would recommend if you want a nice brunch downtown.
Service was timely and attentive. My dinner did not turn out as well as I hoped but my partner thought his was the best ever.
We ordered Halibut for lunch and left the restaurant hungry. Fish portion was 4 inches long, 2 inches wide. Tasted great though.
Loulay is always perfect. The ambiance is lovely, the food exquisite and on this particular occasion we had dessert and all three that we tried were ridiculously good. It is one of my favorite spots in the city and I love bringing friends from out of town. I feel like it perfectly represents the cuisine of the city.
I love Loulay, go there a couple times a month when going to either 5th Avenue or The Paramount! Food is always delicious and the staff is the best...
The food is always great and the menu is updated regularly.
Wonderful brunch prior to downtown event. Had a great server, personable and efficient. Food was perfect and nice varied menu-something for all.
Once again, service strikes the right balance between efficient and friendly, and the server immediately picks up on the fact that not all guests like to be fussed over. Scrambled eggs with oyster mushrooms are very well prepared and the side salad is good and fresh, although there's way too much of it. Eggs Benedict are also excellent. The food smells in the place are just right, not cloying, and the senior-citizen big band standards are pleasantly subdued, not obnoxious. $6 for a double espresso is silly, but at least it's good. Be sure to read the comments in the little notebook you get with your bill. In ours, somebody had noted that the portion sizes should be increased and someone else had commented that Cheesecake Factory is just up the street. Made us and the server laugh.
Excellent service and food. Very enjoyable dining experience.
