Always delicious food and attentive wait staff!!
The waitress was not friendly and welcoming as some are . If you write down you are celebrating a bday maybe they should pay attention before they serve you
Our Server, Jim, was outstanding. Informative, gracious and knowledgeable. He directed our decisions after gathering our input. The food was outstanding and a very gracious gluten-free selection, including a separate menu, was quite delightful. The hostess was a little crabby when we objected to the first seat selection near the kitchen and less than a foot and a half from the next table. However, Jim and the chef saved the experience and we would be delighted to return!
Great again! Never a bad experience. We sat in the back room which was a bit louder than the main restaurant... otherwise all was wonderful!
Very good service and well prepared seafood dishes. The wines by the glass were well selected.
Excellent French cuisine. Their lunch fixe prix is a bargain.
Always a nice experience. Food is consistently good
Our server was very good, attentive and personable. Dinner was excellent! The wine list really needs an upgrade. The list hasn't changed in a long time and needs much better selections!
We enjoy Mon Ami always. Love love love the French onion soup. A bowl and an entree is too much so usually do it with an appetizer. I wish there was a wider choice of healthier apps or small side salads like beets and greens or marinated green beans or asparagus and mushrooms, something that didn’t include a lot of butter or cream
We forgot a package and the restaurant called us, and saved it for us!
We ate an early dinner in the bar - They were having happy hour so drinks and appetizers were half off - what a deal! We loved it and will be back. We had the shrimp cocktail, that had huge shrimp and two kinds of sauce. A+ We also had the steak tartare, and really loved the variety of things that it was served with and it was very fresh and tasty. We also had the duck appetizer and we both loved that. The skin was super crispy and it was served with red cabbage and apples. The profiteroles were wonderful and big enough for two to share. We left stuffed and happy!
Great food. Nice ambiance. Went there for my birthday. Had a great time
I brought out of town guest for lunch. We had a terrific time.
Lunch with colleagues
We had a nice dinner here. Both the service and food were very good.
This is a great place to go for any time and with your all family or friends.
My husband ordered the beef bourginon. The meat was overly fat and full of gristle and ended up not eating any of the meat. When asking the server what kind of beef she said “beef cheeks”. Cannot understand why any restaurant would use a fatty very gelatinous meat in such s dish without informing the customer before ordering. So what you had was cheap meat in one of their most expensive entrees. I have to say as many times as we’be been there we’ve never encountered sub par food such as this
Mon Ami Gabi is a sanctuary on a cold rainy night. A warm greeting at the host stand extends to the servers and staff.
Classic mussels were a fine start, along with a very fresh shrimp cocktail with two sauces.
A perfect martini was a fine pairing.
The highlight, as usual, was the perfectly prepared bone in ribeye, served hot from the kitchen, along with tasty frites. The best steak in Oak Brook, in my humble opinion.
The food is awesome. We got seated at a corner table and were not rushed. It was a great date night experience
Had an excellent meal at Mon Ami! We started our meal with the Crispy Duck Confit, a family favorite that I highly recommend. The soft and succulent Duck falls off the bone, and the full flavor of the red cabbage and gala apple make it a great way to start any meal. For my entree I had the Salmon, which was excellent as always. The soft, perfectly cooked salmon and it's amazing purple sweet potatoes make it something I can't help but always ordering. My grandmother tried the Saturday Special Beef Short Ribs, which were the best short ribs we've both ever had! It was incredibly soft, full of savory flavor, and it soaked in the great wine like flavor of the sauce. My younger sister ordered the Filet Mignon, which is a must order for any steak lover. For dessert I had the Maple Pecan Bread Pudding, which is a must order. The moist Bread Pudding soaks in the bourbon toffee sauce, and the taste is to die for. My sister ordered the Chocolate Mousse, which she enjoyed very much. If your in the area and looking for the best food in town, come to Mon Ami!
Delightful way to have Saturday brunch at Mom Ami! Service impeccable. Food delicious as always. Good value. Will be back. Great ambiance.
Gone downhill. Certainly not the MAG in Lincoln Park.
I love Mon Ami Gabi. It was my birthday and they treated me to a profiterole with a candle in it.
The person who was seating guests forgot about us even though we had a reservation and seated a couple of people in front of us. The food was delicious but it was really loud and crowded where we were seated.
Being seated at a table next to a family with small unruly children where the parents did nothing to settle the children down. The maitr’d should have seated then in a part of the restaurant where they could have been alone. Every table around them was disturbed. Our server tried to make up for the unruly bunch and we commend her efforts
Always good. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, the room is welcoming -- consistently. We've been going to Mon Ami Gabi for years and have never been disappointed. I had the fish special, arctic char with spinach, roasted shallots and finished with cara cara oranges in a delicate sauce -- fabulous blend of flavors.
I hate to say it but food was nothing special. I had chicken dish and it was not very tender. FIlets were ok but again, nothing special.
I have wanted to try this place for years and was NOT disappointed!!! Brunch was one of the best I've ever had!! Mimosas are a little pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Need to come back for dinner one of these days.
We arrived at 10:30 am when they opened so there weren’t too many people. The service and food choices were great and the food was very good. The restaurant got pretty full as lunch hour approached and started to get a bit noisy then. But overall it’s a really pleasant place and I highly recommend it.
Food was good and our server was decent- when he wasn’t overly consumed with the table of 8 next to us. I get that they had a large party, but the endless conversation while we are waiting for what seemed like forever with nothing in front of us after dinner. I wanted desert, but after waiting so long I was ready to just get the bill and go. If we waited around that long after plates had been cleared, how long then for the check? When he finally made it to our table my sweet boyfriend quickly ordered the dessert I wanted before I could ask for the check. It was again great. But once again waiting after our dessert plates were cleared. When we finally received our bill we waited again for it to be picked up. Then when we got the copy back that was to be signed it miraculously jumped about $70 higher! In the time between us getting the first copy and it being picked up with the payment card, the server added the dessert from the table of 8 to our bill! We waited and waived down the server who fixed the bill. The amount of waiting was unacceptable. I’m not sure if it was the fault of the server or the rude party being extra about everything. And then to add their order to our bill and have to wait around while they figured that out was just the last straw. Food was amazing and ambiance romantic- but the amount of waiting was ridiculous.
Good food and great service - pretty busy and noisy for a "romantic" dinner, but otherwise I'd definitely recommend it.
Food was excellent. Service very good. Room was a little noisy.
Excellent food and service
We had a party of eight and our server Eileen did a fantastic job. I know it was the end of a long shift but you couldn’t tell by the smile on her face. I also want to thank the GM Dale for checking on us and making our night out end on such a positive note. We will be back.
The Beef Bourginon is amazing, as is the bread!
Have been coming here for years. Always consistent quality service and great food. Great atmosphere and great location. If you had it then you already know, if you haven’t, you have to give it a shot!
Friday night date night with my wife. Our server was top notch.
I was glad we made reservations at this location, as it was quite busy at 7 on a Friday night. We were on the younger end of the spectrum of diners there--most everyone else was in their 60s or 70s. The decor very much reminded me of a Parisian bistro, but on a larger scale. It was noisy, but we were easily able to have conversations with our friends. The tables in our area didn't turn over too often, so you can tell that people take their time and fully enjoy their meals.
The chicken grand-mere was not bad, but I would order the steak next time we visit. The baked goat cheese app was delicious and I like that they give you a vegetable "amuse bouche" with the crusty french bread and whipped butter. The small, side Caesar salad had a light dressing, which was refreshing. All the desserts were spectacular and big enough for 2 to split. I would recommend Mon Ami Gabi to anybody, although would NOT recommend it for those dining out with children.
We came to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and had a wonderful time. The waiter was professional and didn't intrude unnecessarily. The food was delicious and served in an appropriate proportion for the event and price. A wonderful experience all the way around.
