wonderful service, amazing views of the ocean and sunset, and delicious food - better than we anticipated! I have food allergies (including gluten and dairy) and they were very accommodating. The beet salad was refreshing and flavorful. The coconut prawns were GF - they use rice flour! how exciting! And they swapped the mashed potatoes (made with cream) for broccolini - delish! The coconut prawns were light and delicious, not at all greasy. lovely meal, and gorgeous sunset!

Our table was incredible however because we went well before sunset, we sat there with sunglasses on the majority of our meal. The sunset was stunning though.

Moonraker is our favorite restaurant for fine dining in Pacifica. We went with my brother and his wife who are New Yorkers and connoisseurs of fine dining and they were overwhelmed at the incredible view, delicious cuisine and great service. The oysters, beet salad, coconut shrimp and petrale sole were excellent! Good drinks, wonderful experience!

Really enjoyed the ambiance at Moonraker — beautiful ocean views and a great atmosphere overall. Service was attentive and friendly, and the food was decent as well. I also really enjoyed the live piano music, which made the experience even better. Definitely recommend coming here for the scenery and relaxing dining experience by the water.

FAQs

Portions are generally satisfying and plated like fine-dining entrees, guests describe ample, well-prepared dishes rather than huge portions. Many say entrees leave them full (some split dishes like cioppino or lobster mac & cheese), though a few guests felt certain items (steak or lobster) were small for the price. Expect restaurant-style portions with attention to presentation.

Moonraker serves lunch and dinner with daily dinner service and weekend lunch. Current hours list Saturday–Sunday lunch 12:00–4:00 pm; dinner daily 4:00–9:00 pm. Happy hour runs most afternoons (weekdays and many weekend days), check the restaurant for current happy hour times and holiday changes before you go.

Yes. Moonraker is frequently recommended for date night thanks to unbeatable oceanfront views, live piano music and a romantic, fine-dining vibe. Guests regularly celebrate anniversaries and special occasions here; staff often accommodate celebration requests and will sometimes bring a complimentary dessert. For the best sunset experience, request a window booth when you reserve. Dress is business casual.

For drama and romance, go for dinner at sunset, guests consistently recommend arriving just before sunset for the best ocean views. If you want lower prices and a lively bar scene, try happy hour (late afternoon). For a quieter visit, pick a weekday or an early dinner; avoid high-demand holidays (Valentine’s Day, NYE) unless you book well in advance.

Warm, romantic and relaxed, Moonraker blends fine-dining service with a coastal, retro-charm vibe. Guests regularly mention live piano music, soft lighting, attentive staff and the huge draw: spectacular surf-and-sunset views. It’s both date-night romantic and comfortable for family celebrations depending on your seating choice.

Moonraker is family-friendly and accommodates groups, guests often bring families, celebrate birthdays, and the staff can seat parties away from crowds when requested. The dining room features booths and tiered seating with ocean views; one guest noted staff seated an immunosuppressed guest away from busy areas. For specific accessibility needs (wheelchair access, ramps), call ahead to confirm accommodations.

Moonraker features a crescent-shaped dining room with tiered seating so almost every table faces the ocean. Options include window booths (highly requested), elevated tables with great sightlines, a bar area for happy hour, and occasional seating by a fireplace. If you have a seating preference (window booth, away from piano), note it on your reservation and call ahead.

Business casual. Guests often dress up for special occasions like anniversaries and Valentine’s Day, matching the restaurant’s fine-dining feel and oceanfront atmosphere.

Yes, guests commonly request window booths, anniversary notes or specific servers and the staff often accommodates those requests when possible. Many diners report successful arrangements (booths, celebration desserts), though a few guests experienced miscommunications, so it’s best to call the restaurant directly after booking to confirm special requests.

Yes, families do dine here and guests often bring children for birthdays and special meals. The atmosphere leans toward fine dining and there’s no dedicated kids’ menu noted, so for younger children consider an earlier seating or call ahead to check menu flexibility. Many guests praise the staff for being accommodating to families.

There’s no formal public waiting-list policy listed, but the restaurant is popular and guests strongly recommend reserving in advance. Walk-ins can sometimes get bar seating during happy hour, but reservations are safest for sunset or holiday dining. If you arrive without a reservation at a busy time you may have to wait.

Busiest: weekend dinners at sunset and holidays (Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve), guests report packed dining rooms and special prix-fixe menus. Happy hour and bar seats can also be lively. Quietest: weekday early dinners, non-holiday afternoons or Sunday lunch/brunch can be more relaxed. Booking ahead is recommended for peak times.

It depends on your goal: for a relaxed meal and great views, Sunday lunch/brunch is popular and praised by guests. For a romantic sunset dinner, any weekday or weekend evening timed with sunset works, but weekdays (Mon–Thu) are often quieter. Avoid major holidays unless you reserve well in advance.

Moonraker has hosted holiday events (Valentine’s menus, New Year’s Eve) and many guest reviews describe holiday service, so it does open for major occasions. Hours and special menus may change for holidays, so call or check the restaurant’s website before planning a holiday visit.
