Lake Avenue Restaurant & Bar in Duluth, Minnesota has been around since 1991, back when Canal Park was better known as an industrial harbor rather than a tourist location. The interior at Lake Avenue Restaurant & Bar has a cozy feel to it, thanks in large part to the reclaimed lumber used for the tables, booths and bar as well as thriving plants. When the weather is nice, you can dine on our deck, furnished with Loll patio furniture made locally. We are a small restaurant, limited to 15 tables and 70 seats indoors. Because of this we are not able to accommodate groups larger than 8 people. If your party is larger than 8 people, please understand that your group may be split at separate tables, potentially not near each other. Please call us to discuss accommodating your large group events.Due to the invariability of Duluth weather, our deck is non-reservable (with or without dogs) and subject to be closed without much notice. We seat the patio on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Our waiter was the star of the show, he took very good care of us. It was busy due to graduation, so receiving our food was vwry slow, but he checked on us all the time and was so cheery and kind.

The wait staff: very friendly, prompt, and they don’t hover over you. However, they ARE paying close attention and see when you’re ready to order or need a drink refill. They check on your meal quality after you have tried it, not within seconds of having served. The kitchen staff is obviously top notch. The taste was fantastic, prepared perfectly, and plated beautifully. They have obvious skills! Fish and seafood we had was done to perfection. Pastas weren’t overcooked. Their prices aren’t the cheapest in town but their food IS the best. You pay for quality of flavor and quality of staff. I will never complain about that! 20 out of 10, would recommend!!!

Always an enjoyable dinner. I ordered the special of Elk Stroganoff. The stroganoff was very delicious. However, the elk meat was in fairly large chunks and quite chewy. The service was excellent.
