Gloria Gati is the new restaurant of chef George Papakostas who jokingly refers to Gloria as the older sister of Vittoria Gati, another famous restaurant of his in Glyfada. Gloria is located in a historic building in the Athens center just 50 meters from Syntagma square. It is defined by an eclectic vintage design in a very cosy space where the pizza oven takes center stage. The bar serves award winning cocktails and over 100 wines from Greece and around the globe. The menu is Italian with a focus on homemade pasta and quality meats. The pizza is made from a 1937 sourdough and baked in a traditional oven imported from Naples. We arrived early and they we’re very helpful and accommodating letting us order drinks. Service was excellent and views were amazing. The Lamb and Sea bass were excellent.

Outstanding food and excellent atmosphere on this Christmas Eve. Shame they had technical issues which meant they could not find our reservation (despite having a confirmation email - they said it happens often and hence had spare tables - better phone them next time…) and we had to wait almost half an hour to pay because the card reader was not working. We nevertheless had a wonderful time and will be going back.
