Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink.     Everything was outstanding! We had several food allergies and the waiter and restaurant were patient and very accommodating towards us. We know we are not easy with me having a soy, coconut, sesame and gluten allergy and my mother with a cow’s milk allergy, goat , sheep and butter are ok. It’s complicated! The restaurant is gorgeous and it is a great value. Fun place to come with friends as it was my mother’s 91st birthday! 🎂

    Our waiter was outstanding! I really need to remember names but he was great! He gave us great food and drink recommendations that we ending up getting and wow everything was great! He also brought out a treat for our wedding anniversary that we were celebrating. That’s was so very special ❤️

    What a fun place! So pretty inside! Food was excellent, drinks were fantastic and staff was very nice!!!! Will go back every time we visit Grass Valley. Next time we will come on a Fri or Sat night to make it to the Speak easy down stairs
