The building is a fine example of Early American Dutch rubble architecture featuring wide planked random width board floors, a fire place in each of the main rooms and many small multi-level rooms.The Hoffman House is located at the corner of the historic Stockade district in Kingston NY, and once served as fortification and a lookout. Today the Hoffman House serves a continental fare, featuring steaks, fresh seafood, pasta specialties and homemade artisan desserts. An open-air, beautifully landscaped garden patio, enhances outdoor dining in the summer, while you can cozy up next to one of our three large stone fireplaces in the winter.

    Wonderful food, with a wonderful server. They accommodated my desire for seafood over chicken( I’m a pescatarian) without hesitation. My one daughter is a vegan/vegetarian and is always happy to peruse the menu because she has options, unlike at some other restaurants.

    Attractive, cozy setting with gorgeous view of the Hudson. Very friendly staff. Bar seating—our favorite—had ample room for both a drink and dinner. Burgers were great—juicy double patties served with crisp fresh cut fries. And the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was delicious and enough to share. Nice list of house cocktails and reasonable range of wines by the glass. This is likely to become a “regular” haunt!

    This restaurant is so unique! The atmosphere is by far the reason to come but you’re pleasantly surprised that the food and service is just as amazing. My husband and I went on the last day of their 2025 season and I’m honestly bummed I didn’t know about this place sooner so I could come more before they closed for the cold months. We will be returning when they open again in the spring! My husband had the half chicken which was cooked perfectly and was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside from being made in their wood-fire oven. I had the margherita pizza which is one of my favorites and theirs was done very well. 5/5 stars!
