Chef Paul Friedman is a Master Chef with over 40 years of experience in the restaurant industry. His culinary journey has taken him across South Africa, Germany, and the United States.Paul began his career as a restaurant manager and steadily rose through the ranks to become a franchise owner and later Director of Operations. In 1994, he launched Paul’s Pizza Shops, a nationally recognized pizza concept in Northwest Houston, Texas.In 2009, Paul introduced a bold new idea—Peli Peli, a South African fusion restaurant that quickly gained national acclaim. As Executive Chef & Owner he helped shape Peli Peli into a beloved destination for adventurous diners. The plains of Southern Brazil are filled with grazing cattle enjoying the vast pastures. These cattle are the source for the famous and centuries old Brazilian “Churrasco” barbecues. It was at these gatherings where Brazilian cowboys or “gauchos” would prepare large pieces of meat and slowly cook them over open flame pits. Our traditional gaucho chefs still follow these traditions to preserve the flavors of each cut of meat. We feature unlimited tableside service of different cuts of beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. We also feature a gourmet salad bar, and various traditional side dishes to complement the meats. You can control your service with a small green and red-sided card. The green side tells the gaucho chefs to bring out skewers of sizzling meats to the table while the red signals a stopping point. To re-start service, simply display the green side again.
