From the OpenTable editors: North Pond sits at the edge of its namesake water in Lincoln Park, in a historic Arts and Crafts building facing the Chicago skyline. Chef John C. Brandon builds a six-course tasting menu around local farms and their seasonal harvest with dishes like duck schnitzel with cornflakes, candied kraut, and cider mustard. Pair it with cocktails like the El Gallo featuring cilantro mezcal, spring onion, and elderflower. A Michelin Guide Chicago Mainstay and an OpenTable Top 100 Romantic Restaurant for 2026, the restaurant is made for a memorable evening by the water.

Executive chef: John C. Brandon

Not a fan of the newer prix fix menu. Preferred fewer courses and more options per course. The duck schnitzel was very dry and had little flavor. Service was impeccable as always —- Liz was excellent and very engaging.

Everything was terrific! We were celebrating our anniversary, and the entire staff made us feel so special. The food was absolutely amazing. To me, this restaurant captures everything that makes Chicago so special-the architecture, the beautiful park setting, the innovative chefs, and the exceptional Midwestern hospitality, all woven together into one unforgettable dining experience!

This has been our favorite “special event” restaurant over the years. Make sure you sit in the front room. We think it makes a big difference. Excellent food and service. Servers are personable and professional. Room has great character with a moderate noise level. No background music! I’ve never understood why restaurants add that unnecessary noise

The pairings were really not acceptable and did not elevate or go with the food. I don’t know what happened. We loved our meal last year but this year, the food was off, too. Too much acid on our first courses. My hake was cold. The lamb was not tasty. Our desserts were not good. We never leave food on our plates with these tastings and this was the first time we did.
