What Insiders Are Saying
Odys and Penelope in Mid-Wilshire is upscale American comfort food at its finest. And also the best smelling restaurant in LA.
We are from Boston and just love to visit our daughter here in LA. She always picks the best places to check out and Odys and Penelope was no exception. Bar program was yummy too and always an added bonus. Service was laid back but friendly.
They were out of ribs at 7PM, disappointing. Burgers were a bit over cooked but desserts were wonderful. Beer was good but would have liked a draft option. Noise level was high so not easy to hear with 6 people.
Definitely will try again.......
The staff could not have been more welcoming or engaging. We did not have one bad bite out of 8 dishes we tried! Everything was delicious.
Amazing service. All servers are awesome. Food is great. Dessert is out of this world.
The service is perfect and the flavors are perfect!
Beautiful, contemporary and clean design. Great inventive menu. Wonderful presentation.
The service could be a little bit more friendly. Or maybe it was just our waiter. The interaction was extremely limited and cold . . .
Great food! Great ambiance! Not such great service. Waiter was too busy and took some time to get to our table and once he did the drinks we ordered were also slow to follow. The place is beautiful and the food is memorable.
Fantastic food and drinks. Would recommend to anyone.
We enjoyed our night. Service is friendly and helpful. It tended to be on the slow side so don't expect to be in a hurry here. Food seems innovative and fun. Restaurant is located on La Brea, so virtually no foot traffic on the Sunday evening we were there. All and all, it's a pretty, warm restaurant with interesting, tasty food where most would be happy.
Love the ambiance. It's cozy with dim lighting but also very popular and buzzing. There are many delicious and unique drinks. The food menu is diverse and everything is delicious. The service was fantastic, our server was extremely attentive, friendly and KNOWLEDGEABLE. We had the cheese rolls, onion rings, rotisserie pork and the bolognese. The bolognese was the highlight by far but everything was incredible. The best part is that the tip is included!!!!
Food was very good. We all enjoyed different entees and starters. We werenit blown away by the Chocolate Rye Pie that other reviewers raved about. The best thing that we ordered was the Cheese Buns. They were amazung. Overall it was a very good dinner.
Other than being a beautiful space, I can’t really think of anything positive to say about this restaurant.
Our waiter was not engaging, the food was very mid-range and a bit overpriced and the drinks were....timid.
No plans to go back.
Went for Happy Hour. Great selection of food and drinks at the bar during this time. Have eaten here a couple of times before, but this time, though the food was good, we found all of the food on the overly salty side.
This place is amazing!
We went there for a friend’s birthday. A bit pricey but worth every penny. The food was delicious. The waiter, Phillip, was very helpful and professional.
The ambiance was lovely.
Really made the birthday dinner very special.
Loved the atmosphere- perfect for bringing a really good friend from out of town. Loved the small plates- cauliflower w/millet was amazing. This is my new favorite restaurant.
Food very good but portions on small side. My husband was still hungry.
It was a great experience overall-service was a bit slow and we had to ask about our meals but other than that, it was warm, inviting, the staff was pleasant and the food was fantastic!
I've been here a few times now, and the food has always been delicious. This time, it was amazing. I think that might've been the best salmon I've ever had...I actually asked my dining companion if she thought it would be awkward to lick the plate. (She said "no" but I restrained myself.) It can get a little loud in there, but otherwise, this has become a regular go-to for me.
Food was good across the board. Service was helpful and friendly. The restaurant's wood tables and open kitchen is modern warm. Very pleasant surroundings. Conducive to conversation. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Food is always outstanding. It was nice in that it was not as crowded as usual so made for better conversation(less noise).
It is not an inexpensive meal so if you are after romance or ambience not just food this may not be your spot!
Great as always!! Consistent.
Great food, a bit overpriced for the portion size, especially sides. $9 for 6 onion rings, come on.
Deserts are the best !!!!!!!
We loved our waiter. He was so not like your typical LA waiter. Zero pretense. Very genuine a little kooky in a great way.
The food is amazing every time I go to Odys and Penelope! Love the fried rice and pappardelle. I wish the Caesar was still on the menu! The ambiance is great but it’s a bit noisy and difficult to hear the other end of the table. Our server did his job but no wow factor. I love this restaurant and will go back over and over.
The food was delicious. The fish is excellent. The main courses are well balanced and an appropriate size. The service is excellent.
Everything was great!!!
Great good, friendly servers. Love it!
Our first experience was brunch with out of town friends, who read about the restaurant as a fan of the chefs/owners. Loved the donut holes and dipping jam! Excellent, delectable menu, so we knew we had to come back again.
Wonderful space and ambiance for dinner. Our server, Collin, was impeccable with timing, knowledge and service. Made a strong impression on our guests visiting from Portland. Every bite and drink was superb, especially the tequila cocktail. This may be our staple LA restaurant ambassador!
The food was sooooo good —everything, especially the deserts! The service was great too
It is my favorite restaurant for brunch and dinner as well, this place just driven by culinary excellence
I asked for a booth by the windows and was very pleased that my request was honored.
I liked the fact that an 18% gratuity was included in the bill but think this should have been better noted.
Overall a very pleasant evening at Odys & Penelope.
I mean the appetizers were sad; but the steaks made up for it, we tried 2 different kinds of steaks and they were both very good.
We love O & P's! I requested of my family that we go there for my birthday. We had a 7:30 reservation, and were accomodated even though we arrived at 6:00! (5 of us). The food is wonderful, especially the small plate appetizers. The cheese puffs are amazing!
Fantastic food, great menu, fun atmosphere. Loved it!
We had really bad service but the food itself was good and the atmosphere was quaint. Portions are small but overall a good meal
Good Service, staff that know the menu, eclectic and delicious food. I recommend it!!!
We had one of the best meals ever at Odys and Penelope on Friday evening. Service was friendly and responsive, the cocktails were delicious, and the entrees were heavenly, carefully prepared and beautifully served. The restaurant's interior is beautiful and warm, and the ambiance is gracious.
My new favorite restaurant. The food was creative and delicious. It’s a very happening place but also has a quieter section in the back that was perfect for an evening catching up with old friends.
Really cute place to do brunch on a Sunday morning. It’s relatively quiet and not crowded so it’s easy to find a spot. They also take reservations for brunch which is rare in this town. The service is great and the food is amazing. Get the “French toast”! You won’t regret it!
