We ate here in the past and LOVED IT.
They sprung a prix fixe menu on us this time. Meal was MUCH more than we expected to pay. Disappointed
I come here often. This place is exceptional. One Plin per guest is a good rule of thumb.
This place was a revelation! The octopus was delish, the buttered ravioli finger-licking good and the rabbit and roast pork loin were mouth watering. You won’t be disappointed!
Excellent service and a delicious meal! Seared scallops, grilled octopus and homemade pastas were the highlights for us.
Food is very good and although pricey the quality matches the price. Only critique is that the panna cotta dessert was too sweet. Otherwise, a great place and well worth going to.
The restaurant is a fantastic little Italian restaurant. Everything was fresh and felt like you were in a Taverna in Italy. The owner comes by and personally checks with each table that they are more than satisfied with their meal. Love it, will definitely go back
It was a good night. Service was attentive, not super friendly but no real complaints. Food was very good. Octopus, prim, and desserts were delicious. Risotto was good but for $34 it should be outstanding. Lively atmosphere and great wine list for people who know wine. We needed some help because most wines were ones we aren’t familiar with. Eat here, drink here. It was good.
Great experience! Second time and it was just as good as the first! Next time I’m ordering 2 Plin!!!
Food and wine were very good. Service was very friendly but
Everything we ordered was delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
Best ragu in chicago.
Fantastic experience top to bottom — and delivered during the polar vortex. Eager to return! Thank you!
I went there during restaurant week for my birthday. The staff were absolutely lovely. I recently sprained my ankle, and they were so helpful and accommodating. And most importantly the food was fantastic and very authentic. Don't go without getting the Plin (hand-pinched ravioli)--it is melt in your mouth delicious! Also a great wine and cocktail list with happy hour during the week.
Clue was very accommodating. We had to downsize our reservation and change the time at the last minute but they were able to seat us though it seemed to be a busy evening. My daughter, on whose recommendation we chose Clue, had told us that the gnocchi was exceptional. It was. My first experience with gnocchi was in Italy years ago and it blew me away. Since then nothing had ever come close till last night. Encountering truly good gnocchi is as if you are putting a miniature pillow in your mouth which when you smash it against your palate tastes of potato and the sauce it was sautéed in. The seasonal sauce which was a butter, squash and mushroom was also amazing. It’s that combination of mouth feel and taste that need to be there. I’m pretty sure it’s only accomplished when the gnocchi are freshly made. The other dishes we ordered, the radicchio salad, the duck confit and the miniature donuts were prepared with care and flare. The wine list was extensive and the service very friendly and attentive despite the busy evening. When we visit NY again we’ll definitely revisit Clue.
Food is fantastic and portions were good. Definitely a popular place.
Great food! Really responsive and helpful service. Would go back again in a heartbeat.
The trifecta menu is a great value. Food and drinks were amazing and staff was very attentive. I wish they offered those chips that come with the polipo as a stand-alone appetizer.
I keep going back, always a wonderful meal and wine selection!
Excellent, authentic Northern Italian cuisine. Fantastic wine selection!
We had such a great time! As it snowed outside, we were cozy in the dining room eating Plin and tasting amaro with Aldo. Overall, a great experience and great food and wine! With 5 of us and 5 desserts on the menu, we ordered one of each and they were all incredible. Would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Italian meal in Chicago.
Interesting menu, excellent service, knowledgeable staff. Conversation challenged but we'd go again when the menu changes.
Appetizer (gnocchi) was seriously amazing. Main course (salmon) was really good. Dessert (panna cotta) was acceptable but not special. Our server was competent but a bit over extended. All in all, we were super happy with the experience.
Ridiculously good food, great wine list, average cocktails, and pretty good service. For the value, a definite return visit is in store!
Have to get the plin! It’s amazing!
Food was unbelievable! They brought us free dessert! Cannot wait to go back!!!
Best meal we have had there by far!!! Everything was so delicious
Made for a special anniversary dinner
This was a very good experience including some great food and a vast wine selection. A few observations that weren’t awful but could be improved on...one, spacing, you are pretty packed in with tables within a foot of each other which makes it louder than it should be, competing with other table to hear one another. And the other observation would be portion size. Although the food was excellent and worth the trip, you may want to pre game with a snack or not come overly hungry. With that being said I would still give the place a 4 out of 5 stars.
It was delicious! Great service. Highly recommend.
Plin- need I say more? So delicious. Had a wonderful experience here celebrating a friends birthday. We walked away with a warm glow for Osteria Langhe and friendship :)
Wow! From the greeting at the door through the return of my coat and hat on my way out I was absolutely delighted and completely satisfied. Really delicious experience on new years eve. I was blown away by the food, the drink, the service and the atmosphere! Thank you Osteria Langhe!
Food was absolutely amazing. If you try the Plin, you won’t be disappointed. This place is what most Italian restaurants wish they could be.
Food was, and has historically been exceptional. Server (Becky) was friendly, helpful, and all around a pleasure. Great meal & experience
We had a great time enjoying the delicious food and libations!
Food was amazing! Everything we ordered was perfection. Really enjoyed the whole experience. The rabbit loin in prosciutto was a real highlight. One of our top 5 meals!
We were made to wait 30 minutes past our reservation and asked to purchase a drink at the bar while we waited.
The food was great but small portion
The restaurant was decorated very casual. It was cozy and quaint. The service was great. The wine list is very unique and unless you are a wine connoisseur, it was overwhelming. Our server picked some wines, but no one at the table enjoyed the selections picked. The food was priced very high, but the portions were larger than other Italian restaurants. However, our server described the portions as being small- NOT THE CASE. Overall, it was a nice place to catch up with friends. But we spent way too much for not enjoying the wine and ordering way too much food.
Osteria Langhe definitely represents Piemontese cuisine at its best: Typical dishes like vitello tonnato, carne cruda, plin, tajarin, coniglio, panna cotta, etc, are featured, as in any typical Piemontese restaurant/trattoria in for in stance Alba, Treiso, Neive (in fact, the owner knew a specific restaurant in Treiso which I am lucky enough to regularly visit). The wine list similarly offers a large selection of Piemontese wines, many of which you will not find on the list of many more famous Italian restaurants in Chicago (or elsewhere in the US). We were with 4, and essentially had the aforementioned dishes between us, and all were excellent. I was the only one who had the white truffels with my 2 dishes (plin and bistecca), and both were - of course - wonderful, bringing back memories from a dinner a month earlier in Treiso. The wines (by the glass, as I was the only one having wine) were selected with care by Aldo (owner/sommelier): Quorum 2005, a Barbera d'Asti (a wine made in partnership by 6 well-known producers) which was still going strong, full and with rich fruit, and a Prunotto Barbaresco 2008, which paired with the bistecca (and truffels) very well.
And - of course as it should be for a restaurant of this caliber - the pace was Italian: dishes were served at the right intervals, and never was there a sense one was being rushed. One seating for the night, that was it, for all the tables around us. A refreshing break from even some so-called high-end Italian restaurants in my place of residence...
In summary, it was a very memorable evening (a Thursday, and the place was very busy), exceeding my expectations (which were high, based on reviews). Osteria Langhe will be our go-to restaurant every time my family and I will be visiting Chicago.
Loved it!! Amazing food and great service. Highly recommend.
