Delicious food! Would definitely go again. Recommend getting plates to split at the table to try more things. Everting was fantastic.
Fantastic food, thoughtful service helping my picky client select her wine. An unrushed and pleasant evening in Logan Park.
great service, great food! we enjoyed everything about our evening at Osteria!
Deserves 6 stars!! My boyfriend and I are constantly searching for a place to meet my Paleo and his vegetarian needs, this place totally nailed it. And unlike most places, the servers didn't give him the steak and me the fish. The attention to detail of not making that very gendered mistake was really appreciated by both of us! And surprisingly uncommon.
It is probably the best restaurant in the city. Wine list is also fabulous. Cannot recommend it more highly.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Unique menu, helpful and friendly staff, phenomenal wine, food to write everyone you know about. The server even updated us that they had a specific ingredient arrive that allowed them to make an additional dish if we wanted - which we did - and it turned out to be my favorite. I appreciated his thoughtfulness to update us. We sat up front which could potentially be a chilly spot for some but they had warned us before we even sat down and the spot ended up being great for our party of 6.
Found Osteria Langhe from a list of 10 best Italian Restaurants in Chicago and it was better than the rave description! Worth the drive!
If you like an urban vibe and great food, you must visit Osteria Langhe! Here you get very high end cuisine in a cool I'll be returning soon.
Nice restaurant with good gourmet Italian. Service was a bit slow. Truffle season $$.
Spectacular food in a relaxed, neighborhood setting. Highly recommended.
Food was amazing and the service was some of the best I've had in Chicago - will definitely be recommending to friends.
My wife and I came here to celebrate an anniversary, lured by the promise of authentic Piedmontese cooking. And - in the main - that is what we got. We discovered Tuesdays have a $38 set menu that is very good value, and we hugely enjoyed our appetizers (a wonderful bagna cauda and a robust equivalent of steak tartare). The mains were almost superb - lovely prosciutto covered rabbit, and a piece of pork which was.... just way too salty. Bizarrely salty. Inedible.
They changed it for a portion of the rabbit my wife was eating, and that was good - superb. They were gracious about this, and the replacement dish was easy.
So we come to dessert - which we only ordered because it was a 3-course set menu. We both ordered the affogato (espresso poured over ice cream). But, alas - the espresso machine was broken. Would we like the ice cream on its own? My wife said yes, and had lovely (commercially sourced) hazelnut ice cream. I went for a chocolate torta - which was not remotely Piedmontese, and of a kind you would get in a local and cheap grocery store. And it was not even today's - it was noticeably stale.
"We used to do an Italian version, but folk didn't like it..."
Add to this that they are 'ambitious' about seating folk, so the tables are close together, and it is more loud than romantic... and you have a really curious mixed blessing.
At its best the food is superb, the wine list is a compilation of remarkable and good value northern Italian wine (including some very fine wines by the glass). But the lapses are extraordinary and inappropriate, and just lower the whole tone. Maybe we were unlucky having the salt cellar slip in the chef's hand and the coffee machine broken. Maybe they were just insane when the bought in this low grade chocolate cake. The rest was superb and worthy of 5+ stars. But the lapses were just sad - and unnecessary.
Amazing! Best Italian food I've had outside of Italy. It is a little pricey, but is worth it. Will be back for sure.
On the whole, a good evening. The bar master/sommelier was very helpful in navigating the excellent northern Italian wine list, recommending a reasonably priced bottle that was quite excellent. Seating is close and ambience is loud but not precluding conversation. The appetizers were excellent. However, having recently visited northern Italy, we found the ragu and the gnocchi to be good tasting but not authentic. So, food was OK as long as you are not looking for a true northern Italian experience.
Overall a very nice experience. Very good service and the food was seasonal.
Excellent food and wine.
Presentation and Service were outstanding
We’ll definitely be back
I love this restaurant. Italy is one of my favorite countries to visit and Osteria Langhe is the closest I've had to legitimate Italian food in Chicago. It's delicious! And they have affogato! Definitely recommend.
Food was great and our server was very nice and attentive. We had to wait 50 minutes after our reservation time to sit. We had 6 people. There was a 4 top and a 2 top that sat open for 30 minutes while we waited. We were finally sat and IMMEADITELY, the 4 top and 2 top were combined to make a 6 top and a group who had just walked in was sat right away. Not sure why they couldn't have done that for us? No one really cared that we had wait so long
Food was delicious. Definitely worth getting reservations over a month ahead of time. Would definitely recommend. We had the octopus for an appetizer. It was not rubbery and was super delicious. We shared a bowl of the ragu and it was also fantastic. I had the prosciutto wrapped rabbit for my main course and my girlfriend had the steak. They were both good the rabbit was definitely the highlight.
Pasta ragu was too salty
Menu wasn’t too appealing
Gnocchi was very good but I left hungry
Noise level is very loud precluding much conversation.
I celebrated my birthday recently there. Great food nevertheless. But the tables are so close to each other that you can hear private conversations of the other patrons. Service was very quick. I did not get complimentary dessert but received a free digestiv from our attendant.
Great food and service. Pastas were excellent and the halibut dessert service and wine were awesome.
Really small portions, decent overall quality, pricey considering portion size (I'm not even a big eater). Wine quality was good but at a restaurant food must come first. Service was acceptable but less than expected considering the cost per person.
Food was amazing! Small Italian plates that were bold with flavor! Service was great as well!
Always a hit in our dining experiences Langhe didn’t disappoint this time either! Love this place and should order much more plin because you can never have enough!!
While we don’t get here often, the homemade pasta is excellent! The Plin pasta is simply fabulous!
We, two senior couples, have dined everywhere you could possibly imagine, and were awestruck by the flavors and quality we experienced at our dinner. This restaurant belongs in the top echelon of anyone’s list and is worth going well out of ones way to experience.
Overall, a really nice dining experience! The service wasn’t as top notch as I would’ve expected, waiter didn’t share specials (overheard from other table after we ordered), took quite a bit of time to come back to refill water or check in, etc. Ambience is wonderful - nice decor and beautiful lighting. Dessert (berry tartlette) was just so so, the actual cream filling didn’t have much taste. Meals were great though, will plan to go back!
This was a perfect spot for a date night! We sat outside under the tree and enjoyed the comfortable weather. The staff couldn't have been nicer! Our server was sweet as can be and helpful with the menu. Funnest tip: All night on Monday is happy hour. My husband and I split the Vitello Tonnato, Rissoto, Coniglio and topped it off with the Bombolini! Everything was so delicious!!! My personal favorite was the Rissoto. It was creamy and mushroomy and it was perfect for the cooler end of summer weather!
Met for dinner and had a fantastic meal. Outstanding Italian wine list and owner was very helpful in choosing the correct wine.
Definitely on the have to visit again list.
All the food was good. Wine selection was great and reasonable. Wll be back
Osteria Langhe has quickly become one of our go-to spots. We don't even live in the neighborhood-- it's worth traveling for the fresh honest and authentic food and excellent wine. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, and consistently make great recommendations. It makes northern Italy feel very close to Chicago.
Food was excellent and the cocktails were a treat, we'll be going again!
Love this authentic Italian restaurant. Great fresh ingredients. Delicious pasta and fresh fish.
Excellent food and service, as usual.
The only negative comment I have is that this place is impossibly loud when it is full.
Really wish the owners would look into some sound reduction options, as it is impossible to talk unless you really raise your voice. Sadly, the women raise theirs the loudest.
Delicious, creative food preparation. Not quiet. Friendly, knowledgeable service. We enjoyed the appetizers. The octopus was remarkably tender. The beef was minimal yet excellent. All the mains were inventively presented; they were the rabbit, pork and ravioli with the ravioli being modest in portion yet rich. The chocolate torte was good, but clearly less special than the previous courses. Wine was of good quality, yet quite costly at $17 a glass. Overall an excellent place. We look forward to returning!
Osteria Langhe is a great place to have an amazing meal. The food is delicious and consistent - it never disappoints. The staff are helpful, friendly and welcoming. This time we went for dinner to celebrate two birthdays and everyone loved everything we tried, including the grilled octopus, the mushroom and pea quiche, the plin, the tortellini, the pork, the halibut, and the steak.
Wonderful Dining experience--the food over whelmed us. We will return as often as possible.
We had a delicious dinner at Osteria Langhe. All of our food was fabulous - be sure to order the Plin and the halibut. Side dishes were amazing too. The wine list was great for Italian wines you don't find everywhere, and our waiter gave us some good recommendations, and a taste to make sure we liked our choice before opening the bottle for us. The service was wonderful - attentive, knowledge and friendly. We shared courses all through the meal, and they were fine with that. I would return again any time.
Good food, usually with a number of dishes not always found on Italian menus here in Chicago. Generally well prepared. Good Service. My one gripe is the portions, which are, mostly small considering the premium prices. Most of the 'Primi' plates are too small to share, unlike most Italian restaurants. $16 for a plate of about 20 little 'plin' (like small tortellini)?! The 'Secondi' ("mains") are mostly adequate. I don't mind paying premium prices so long as I am treated like a 'guest.' High prices and small-to-modest portions strike me as an insult, as an expression of contempt for the 'stupid' customer.
