I have been to Pete Miller's before, it is one of my partner and I special place to dine . But being on the weekend of Valentine's Day it was extra crowded. The food was Great, as always. but the service was not acceptable. I had to ask the waiter 3 times for a straw , he was not attentive to our table as others, I also had to ask for the deserts that came with our entrée and he only bought one . We both were disappointed with the service being it was a birthday celebration. I chalked it up as a bad experience. The other times we went the service was on point for a fine dining Restaurant.

This is our new home for steak! We were a few minutes late and still were seated immediately. I had the Shanghai Calamari and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had French Onion Gratin soup that he loved. I had the 18 oz Petes Cut Bone-In Ribeye that was not only cooked to perfection but was extremely flavorful. My husband had the New Zealand Lamb Chops, also cooked to perfection with a special request to make them spicy. The chef didn't let us down. We were away from the stage which was our preference, but we could still hear the live jazz band and each other. Our server, Mike, was phenomenal! My husband asked, "What types of beer do you have?" and Mike responded, "What beer would you like?" My husband was truly impressed with his confidence and even more impressed that they had the beer he prefers. Great food,the host at the door was pleasant, the music was nice and our server was most certainly the best we've ever had and we've eaten at various places all over the city and have never walked out without at least one complaint. Pete Miller's Steak and Seafood changed that. We will be back! As far as pricing, well worth it! I've spent almost the same on my dinner alone at a high end steak place in the loop and the calamari, steak and service were blah to say the least. I can cook our food exactly how we like it but it's nice to go out and let someone else do the "work" especially when it's such a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
Our entire night was incredible except for our service. He was dry, grouchy, and clearly did not want to be there. This was our second time being there and if it was our first experience we wouldn’t return. Our server dropped our check WHILE we had a half bottle of wine and still eating our dessert... rude. He circled our table numerous times waiting for us to pay it was uncomfortable. However the live music and the food was amazing. We will be back but will request to not have the server we did.
For the first time in many visits, they got it right, particularly the service. Food is always good, atmosphere always good, but this time the service was very good.

We went for Valentine’s Day. Food was ok but not as good as we remembered. Also certain items were not available due to special evening. I had a vegetarian ravioli and was concerned cream sauce might be too heavy. They were accommodating and put it on the side. $21 for a few ravioli with sauce on side seems expensive. Enjoyed live music but ended around 9:00.
Our food was over an hour late after we ordered it. They have gave us somebody's else food first. Our waiter was bad but very apologetic. A guy named Cory came to table and tried to fix everything. He was a good guy, but it was to late. Service was horrible food was mediocre at best. Horrible experience. I live in Evanston and wanted to support a local business on Valentine's day. I was very disappointed.

Went there for Valentine’s Day and had the three course pre fixe menu! Delicious—particularly the chocolate dessert! Wait staff timed courses perfectly, and the jazz trio was a lovely addition. Their choice of songs and volume was perfect for Valentine’s Day!
I love jazz music. We've been to Pete Miller's many times. Lately, it's been a tradition to go every Valentine's Day with our family. It has a cozy atmosphere. I love the music. This year the music was disappointing on Valentine's Day. The female singer was horrible and you could barely hear what she was saying when she was talking into the microphone. I was disappointed that Pete Miller's had this group sing on Valentine's Day, when normally they have a wonderful group of other bands, but other than that I do feel it's a nice place to go on special occasions . I wish they bring the mini crab legs as an appetizers. They were always a hit.
We went to Pete Miller’s for Valentines Day. They had a fixe price surf and turf menu that was just too good to pass up. Filet and lobster. Great.
Great food, good service, great music, though it was a little loud since we were near a speaker. We really enjoyed our dinner - reminded us of how much we all like Pete Miller’s.
We had an early seating on Valentine's Day and chose the prix fixe menu. The bread was fresh out of the oven, the wine was just right, the bisque delicious. Then we waited for our entrees ... about ten minutes. When they arrived, the broccoli had noticeably cooled. The lobster tail was sweet, the melted butter hot, the filet nicely done, and the garlic potatoes well mashed. Then we waited for dessert ... about ten minutes. Both the desserts were delicious. Not sure why the delays in being served, since the restaurant was not packed and we were there in the first half hour, but that's not the normal service at this restaurant. BTW, we didn't have to wait for the bill (LOL). A great place to go for good food and live music.
Great place! I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience...and some live jazz in the background was a plus.
They kept us waiting for at least 15 mins after our reservation time to seat us.
Our server was great but.....the food delivery crew was less so. They came out and slapped my plate down, then my wife’s, and were gone before we could blink an eye. My steak was luke warm and my broccoli was borderline cold. My wife’s shrimp dejohnge (sp?) was also on the cold side. She ordered a side of mashed potatoes that never came. She sent her shrimp back as it was not what she was expecting......and we ordered a filet. Still no potatoes. We ended up asking to take the filet to go.....finally the potatoes came in the to-go bag. The asst manager apologized and gave us a coupon to try to make up for the disaster of a dinner. That was nice, but the kitchen has some issues to work out. Not impressed, though the place was pretty full and seemed lively.
Slow service. We ordered 2 steaks. One medium and one medium rare. Both were medium rare. Asparagus ordered as a side was cold
We were disappointed by the soup, and salad, but found the oysters fresh and delicious. We would definitely recommend the cocktails and oysters.
Loved the live jazz. The steaks are fantastic but so is the burger, let that you're in the mood for and enjoy!
The quality of food was not impressive. Everything was easier over salted, over/under cooked. Paired with high prices it did not make this dining experience positive.
I've been here many time. It's been one of Evanston's best restaurants. Unfortunately, we had a dreadful experience. While seated in a quiet room to the side, which was fine, the host clearly never told anyone we were there. It took more than ten minutes to get water or a server. Once he came, our server was very friendly but very inattentive and slow. We had to ask for bread. It took an extraordinary amount of time to get our food. No one came by to refill our water or other beverages.
The food is good, so I wouldn't say never again, but... I certainly hope Pete Miller's returns to the reliably good restaurant it used to be.
I had high expectations for this long time local restaurant but left very disappointed. The service was poor and when our food finally arrived it was cold and over cooked. This steakhouse does not compete in any way to those in the city.
Excellent experience, beginning with the valet and ending with the check. Great food, great servers, great music.

We were greeted warmly on our arrival, a bit later than our reservation, and joined our friends who arrived earlier than we did on this wintry, snowy, slippery driving evening. We both had the Pete's Pear Martini, which my spouse had enjoyed on our previous visit. The avocado bruschetta was delicious, and generous enough that the 4 of us could enjoy it. My spouse had the prix-fixe menu, a delicious surf-and-turf of lobster and filet, and I had the mouth-watering, fall-off-the-bone BBQ ribs, which my spouse had also enjoyed on our previous visit-- and because our custom is to share 50-50, I can attest that both entrees were superb, as were the two glasses of Rioja recommended by our server. The Mascarpone cheese cake was delightful. Our friends were impressed with their dinners, too, and because Pete's is between their home in Chicago and ours in the northwest suburbs, we'll meet here again for future reunions.

Great music, OK food. Our waitress wasn’t the most attentive though. We had to ask other waiters to call our waitress several times to get served.
We were graciously welcomed and seated quickly. We ordered and received cocktails fairly quickly, and the pear martini was wonderful. We ordered oysters, and experienced our first disappointment of the evening: the tray had apparently been jostled, so none of the briny juice was left in the shells, and one of the oysters was so small as to be non-existent. We ordered the sea bass and BBQ ribs at about 8:00 pm and at 8:50 pm we were still waiting. Finally, the maitre d' came to apologize and assure us we'd be served quickly, but it was at least another 10 minutes. The BBQ ribs were excellent, the sea bass less so; the accompanying glasses of white and red wines were superb. When the jazz band began its second set the volume had been turned up, and we were regularly assaulted by much-too-loud electric guitar chords. We asked if they could lower the volume, our waiter indicated he agreed it was too loud, and yet nothing happened. We ordered gelato for dessert, and it was excellent. When the check was presented, we were told the dessert was on the house, presumably because our dinners had been so terribly late in coming. Our waiter was good and sympathetic, although apparently at the mercy of a kitchen which served food of uneven quality, and in our case, inexcusably delayed. If I had been the manager I would have been concerned enough to have given us 1/2 off the cost of the evening or a voucher for a free entree on a return visit rather than just comp us for the desserts. If not for a friend we met there, we would have left the restaurant after waiting 45 minutes for our dinners. We won't return.
Went on Friday nite for my birthday. Great service. Good music. Excellent steaks and seafood. Loved the Calatroni
I’ve been here a dozen times previous to my last visit. The food suddenly didn’t seem the quality it once was and the service was not good.
Food was super salty.
It was okay. Our table was really far from the stage and our server seemed preoccupied. My $48 steak was dry. But my children enjoyed it (they're adults.)
