Primo Italian American Cuisine
We had the appetizer special Italian Sausage Arancini. This should be added to the main menu. It was our favorite thing at dinner Friday. It was all good but this was star of the night. Just big enough for the 2 of us not to be stuffed.
I had the Tuscan Seafood Pasta, The fresh clams were my favorite part of this, nothing over powered anything in mix and I was able to bring home enough to share the next day.
My wife had the Picatta again, She like it a lot.
We had the Strawberry shortcake for dessert. This was the weak part of the meal. The strawberry and creme were fresh but the cake was a little dry. Not enough to have it sent back, but we may wait before we try it again.
Our server Danielle went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time while we were there.
Nothing special for the price My expectations were higher.
We went to Primo to celebrate my brides birthday. Promo has become our go to restaurant because of the consistency in the quality of the good and service. This time Charles was our personable and attentive waiter. There cocktails are generous in pour and they have a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle. They have a nice menu with a variety of starters, salads, and main dishes. Their Italian style dishes are excellent as well as their fish, beef, pork and lamb offerings. My wife enjoyed a petite filet of beef with candied sweet potatoes and i had the pan sired bacon wrapped scallops on a bed of parmigiana risotto. I also had their Primo Wedge Salad which is a perfect combo of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese dressing and blue cheese crumbles. This is a nice restaurant and while dressing up isn’t necessary I’m always amazed at how casual (read into that sloppy) some of the patrons are. But that aside, we highly recommend Primo as a date night, special occasion restaurant that can become your everyday dining our location.
The food is good and the servings are ample. We have been here many times but this time, our waiter Juan was wonderful and made the meal even better. He never hovered but was always there when we needed him. He refilled water glasses, got things we requested promptly and was so accommodating the entire meal.
Great food. Great service. We’ll be back.
The taste of the food was fantastic, but I like my steak pretty rare so I asked for it cooked rare. When it first came back it was almost all cooked perfectly, but there was a section in the middle of about 30% of the steak that was still stone-cold. After I asked for it to be cooked more, it came back and still had a decent size cold spot in the middle. All my other experiences so far here had been fantastic, so I was just a bit disappointed, especially since the steak I got was an $80 prime tomahawk ribeye. Hope it’s better next time, but overall and from all my previous experiences, a fantastic restaurant!
Great food and service!
We tried 2 of the 3 specials.
We had the fired Calamari again for an appetizer, not sure if grilled or this is our favorite. My wife had the Stuffed Shells Neapolitan. Very good size portion, with just enough sauce. She could taste everything in it and nothing was overpowering.
I had the Lem Tarrgon Bass Oscar. First time for sure having this. there was enough crab that I was able to taste it in each bite. The Bass was perfectly cooked. The sauce was excellent. The only weak part was the Asparagus. They were overcooked and getting soggy. The Flavor went well with everything though. I would recommend it to anyone that can have shellfish
The owner really wanted to give us a dessert. We would have taken him up on it but my wife really was full from the shells and I also had not left room for dessert.
We do appreciate the offer, so far we love just about the entire dessert menu. We could have asked him to pick his favorite and we would have enjoyed it at home later.
This is a favorite place of ours! we have been many times and it always delivers an amazing dinner! great food, wonderful service and an amazing place! would highly recommend for special occasions, weekday dinner or anything!
Poor table selection near wait station, service lacking, bread need to be asked for, cleared table’s plates left near us on tray, should never have been left near tables in use, constant trays of glasses being brought to wait station, wait people congregating at this wait station.
Every time we get Ryan as our waiter we get great service
It was a great dinner we had, during their 4th year anniversary, the food was good, and enjoyed Elton John impersonator. We will be back there. My first experience was there Mother's day brunch, then conference dinner.
Everything was perfect! We wanted to take my sister out to a nice place in our area which is pretty hard to find. Primo is like a downtown Chicago restaurant in Lake county without the hassles of driving into the city. Brett was our server and he was delightful!! Thank you!!
I've been to Primo several times before for casual dinners and special celebrations. I have always had their ribeye and have never been disappointed. It is a huge serving so I always have leftovers. During our last visit, we started off the evening with an order of Malbec. Unfortunately, our choice was not available so we went with another that was offered by their sommelier. On to dinner. I decided to go with their scallops because I was not very hungry. As expected, the meal was great and even then the portion was still too much for me. The risotto and flavors just complimented the scallop very well. And the scallop tasted fresh as it didn't have the fishy taste if not prepared well. I cannot remember what my two friends ordered but they, too, were pleased. Midway through dinner, we ordered another bottle of wine. Sadly, the bottle we ordered was, once again, not available. The sommelier once again offered a replacement bottle which cost more than the one we wanted so he knocked down the price without us even asking. Of course this was appreciated. By the time we ordered dessert, we ordered another bottle but allowed the sommelier to make a recommendation and just went with that. This Cabernet Sauvignon was really good. It was the Austin Hope Paso Robles. It was not an expensive bottle either. I almost wanted a cigar to pair with it. So the 4 stars is for the excellent food and service. Took 1 star off for the two wines we ordered being unavailable.
Great service and great food.
We really enjoyed the romantic setting of the restaurant. The only thing that was an issue was that the table next to us had 3 kids running everywhere and under the table and yelling and drug the table cloth into the floor.
Waiter not knowledgeable, martinis not full, main dish presentations were a mess though OK tasting.
Beautiful restaurant with great food. Private party room; took us on time. Outdoor eating
This restaurant is definitely one of my favorites! Consistently the service is beyond my expectations....they know the proper balance of attentiveness. Ask for Javier if you can, he has a great sense of humor and is so thoughtful in his service...especially if you’re like me and brought my kids. Nicole one of the owners made it her mission to go table by table and ensure her guests were being taken care of...you just don’t see that anymore, she is fabulous. I’ll highly recommend the Carnival of ice cream, it’s a new addition to the dessert menu and will WOW a crowd young or old. So even though I’ve raved about the experience, don’t be fooled the food is just as amazing! Whether it’s a special occasion or just a nice night out with the family this is a wonderful place to go!!
We both tried 3 of the new menu items this week. The Italian Swordfish. Big piece of fish, good portion of pasta and cooked cherry tomatoes. Very light and plenty of food.
Grilled peaches and buffalo Moz salad. very good way to start. Light and just enough mint for us to taste.
Rack of Lamb with potato pancakes and pistachio. Very good. I asked for medium and the 1/2 I had there was just right but the 1/2 I brought home needed a few more minutes. Overall I would have any of these items again.
Danielle was very good with advice and making sure our drinks were exactly right. We had Cherry coke and Ginger ale. So she had to make these for us.
As much as we enjoy it here, this is the third time our drinks were not right. These used a cheaper gin without asking or letting us make the decision. This keeps happening. I received a different wine from the one I ordered, twice. Unfortunately we will be taking a break from Primo.
Sometimes you just need a straightforwardly delicious meal—and this is the place to get one.
This place is great! The waiter was one of the best we had at any restaurant. Food was excellent. You will not be disappointed.
Love the new specials
Loved everything about Primo. The food and service e were excellent
Fantastic food and service!! Amazing place to eat!
We eat here all the time and love the food, service and the owner visits the table several times to make sure everything is OK. My favorite is the appetizer, grilled octopus. I often order two plates and have it for dinner instead as an appetizer. It is OUTSTANDING! My wife loves the Halibut.
This is not our first meal at Primo. We went for a family dinner (six adults and a 2 year old granddaughter). We went specifically because our older son's girlfriend prefers gluten free options. The food was excellent, overall and our server was very helpful with our granddaughter.
There were two major glitches in the meal. The person who was helping our server brought out the entrees before the appetizer dishes were cleared. My dessert did not come out with everyone else's, like not at all. When I asked about it, it came later (forgotten?) and I was informed it had already been removed from the bill.
We like Primo, and we will be back, but the floor manager needs to spend more time on the floor and less time at the hostess stand. Assuring that meals flow well is the floor manager's job, not the server's.
We had the Chicken Carbornara, Ribeye Special and for desert we tried the Carrot Cake for the first time.
Everything was excellent, there was even enough Carrot cake to have some for Saturday's desert also.
Our server Danielle was very attentive and knowledgeable, She is the reason we come out so often to Primo.
First time experience....all around excellent. Pleasant, attentive sevice...quality food and presentation. Will be back.
As always a delicious meal and fantastic service!
We tried the Charcuterie Board app and it was a lot of food. Very fresh cheese and meat selection. We didn't know what some of the cheeses were but Daniele brought someone over that new all of them to explain. It was enough left over for lunch Sat. Nicole recommended it as a Wed dinner with the 1/2 price wine special.
My wife tried the Baked Chicken Rigatoni. very good also. Enough left over for lunch tomorrow.
I had the fillet trio for my main course it comes with Mashed Sweet potatoes. I ordered a side of Creamed corn to try also. Excellent. There was enough cream corn to left to have with last nights dinner, and at a price that I would order it as a togo side maybe for other nights.
for desert we had the Crème Brûlée Cheesecake, we really wish you'd have real creme brulee sometime, but this is one of favorite light items.
We arrived on time and were seated immediately. The hostess and servers were friendly, efficient and knowledgable. A nice chilled bottle of water and bread along with fresh butter were brought within the first 5 minutes of being seated. Our drink order was taken at that time and our drinks were at the table within minutes.
Our server did a great job explaining the dinner specials and he gave his honest about portion size, value and flavors. He asked great questions about spicing preference and told us which menu options were best suited for our appetite. The ambinace was great, temperature was perfect, lighting was great and it was not so noisy that you had to yell in order to be heard. It was a great mix of families, friends and co-worker out for a nice business dinner.
My friend had the chopped salad which was a great portion size with excellent flavor and fresh vegetables. I had the chicken marsala and it was incredible! I am a picky motherfather and it had great flavors, was hot and had a lot of mushrooms and pasta. They did not skimp in the chicken like a lot of other places do in order tp save money and cheat the diner. I give Primo an enthusiastic thumbs up with a twist -and would not hesitate to go back or tell friends they should try it. You can't go wrong, the menu is diverse and the prices are moderate. As an avid diner, I am running out of great places to dine, you either go broke eating there or eat food that tastes like a wet sponge with salt. Primo is conveniently located, with ample parking and prices that don't break your bank, if you're looking for a new place to call home, try it -you won't regret it!
Delicious meal, and the service was excellent! They really make it a nice dining experience there.
Our Server was really great.
The best service! Marco had our bottle of wine ready and chilling for us!
My drink was so refreshing. All the food was delicious. The waiter was fantastic. I was only disappointed by dessert, I ordered beinets and was disappointed that what they called beinets were just donuts without holes and coated with cinnamon sugar and not confectioners sugar. I will eat there again, bit won't order that dessert again.
We had the Grilled Octopus again for the app. continues to be a favorite. Kim had the Pear Ravioli again. I had the Shrimp Carbonara, first time trying it. I really liked the parm sauce. I will order it again and try it without the shrimp. I think the shrimp was overpowering the rest of the dish. Still very good.
Danielle was our server. We would recommend her to anyone who wants to have an attentive server who knows the menu and is willing to check on everything for you.
Overall great experience!! We visited Primo's for a birthday dinner and had a great time. The stuffed meatballs were our favorite, must order!
