Primo Italian American Cuisine
Primo sure does live up to it's name!
PRIMO(meaning “The Best” in Italian) is our interpretation of the marriage of a classic American steakhouse and a signature Italian restaurant.
Replete with soaring ceilings, Italian marble, and custom furniture, PRIMO's grand and dramatic dining instantly sets a luxurious yet comfortable tone. The atmosphere is rivaled only by the menu, which is composed of both Prime and Grass Fed steaks, chops, and classic Italian dishes inspired by the vast regions of Italy. PRIMO's menu is both familiar and sophisticated, and complimented perfectly by our 100+ bottle wine list.
Javier is an amazing server! He makes it a special dining experience.
I felt it was over priced. For the amount you pay, it should come with a starter like a salad or soup. Service was great and restaurant was very nice. Just was not impressed with the food. Would return and try something different
We had a wonderful meal with old friends we hadn't seen in years. The food was unusual and outstanding. We had two of the wonderful raviolis, chicken and pear. I wish I had words to describe the delicious flavor. The scallops were large and delicious. The waiter was attentive and extremely personable and helpful. He assured us many times to feel free to take our time. He was probably the best server I have ever had in over 50 years. I recommend Primo's for their superiority in cuisine and service.
Went to Primo for dinner with my family and everything was outstanding! Excellent service, great wine and food. It was my sisters birthday and the candle with the dessert we ordered was a really cool touch
All I can say is wow! We were here for my sons Navy graduation and couldn’t have been happier. The way the staff at Primo treated us made us feel so welcome and part of their family. Or steaks, pork chop and pasta were the best we’ve ever had. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
As always we had a wonderful meal. The chicken artichoke ravioli was amazing. The stuffed meatballs were as well. Shannon and Aubrey at the bar were friendly and very attentive. (Pretty cute too!)
Primo never disappoints. It is our go to place for a great meal and great service. The pork chop was superb as was the filet and lobster. Everything was cooked and served to perfection! We also enjoyed an excellent Rutherford Pinot Noir as a wine club member.
We keep coming back ever few weeks to Primo because we have a great rapport with our server Danielle. She knows how the menu very well and gives us great tips and makes sure every thing is as close to the way we like it as possible.
Food was very good, but not our best meals at Primo this weekend. We had the Four Cheese and Prime Beef Stuffed Shells, Which were the best dish of the night. The Octopus Diavolo (Danielle warned me this was spicy) The Octopus was cooked well, but I could not finish the sauce due to the spice. This is not to say it didn't taste good, and Danielle did offer to take it back but I really wanted to try it so I did.
For dessert we had the Choloate Mousee w/Shaved dark Chocolate See Salt. I didn't notice the dark chocolate but I could taste the Sea Salt and Mousse. We would liked it to be just a little chilled when we started eating it but as it warmed up at the table it kept it's flavor and texture very well.
My wife dissappointed that she could not get a Hot Chocolate drink
Filet mignon was not the quality for the prices charged Third time been there and this experience overall lacking. We also scheduled a booth sitting days ahead and was shown to a table near the waking aisle Waiter looked like had a rough night before Is this place starting to just mail it in ?
My husband and I were going to a concert and found this restaurant. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. From the host when we walked in to the wonderful service and the outstanding food we had a fabulous experience!we would highly recommend this restaurant!
While we had a great time and Nevin was FABULOUS, we witnessed a food runner make a delivery to two women at the bar, her elbow accidently bumped him and some marina sauce. Some calamari dropped on the floor and he did NOTHING about it. He still delivered the food to these women without saying a word. I was shocked because we have always had excellent service here. That incident did make me question the work ethic of the food runner.
First time visiting Primo, the food was very good, and the menu is very broad. Service was excellent. We will be going back!
Dinner was amazing. Our server, Marco was extremely attentive and knows his stuff! Cant wait to go back.
Unexpected higher end restaurant given the location (Gurnee- home of every franchise near any mega mall Anywhere, USA)
So... we were surprised at the prices ($$)
There were 4 of us- We all had tableside Caesar salad which was nice and only 6 PP- the sides are very reasonable
I had a lobster and shrimp risotto- a bit on the smaller side, and my partner had a steak (again, small)
we all split the turtle sundae dessert which was 16.00 (said it is tableside, shared) so we thought we would each get a scoop of ice cream. Tableside came with 3 scoops (?) so we just asked for one more, and the server was nice enough to bring another scoop.
Three had alcoholic beverages, and later 2 had coffee- I think coffee was $4 which is insane.
Noise level- it was very noisy in there- probably because of the wood floors and high ceilings.
There also is a beautiful side room that would be perfect for a rehearsal dinner or shower that also leads to outside seating.
I think this is a good place for a special occasion, but even Wildfire is not that $$ comparatively.
Really liked the strip, and lobster pasta. The bread was a nice combination of textures.
Food needed more salt but over all good quality. Bigger inside than it looks
had dinner with a friend and it was excellent. the sweet and sour scallops appetizer and table side caesar sales were outstanding. had the short rib and filet trio, which were very filling and very tasty. finished with the beignet tree with dipping sauces. wait service was attentive but not intrusive, and waters and drinks were kept full. this is the 2nd time I have been to Primo and expect to keep coming back.
We always have a great experience dining here. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent! If you enjoy high quality, well prepared meals-this is the place.
Great food , great drinks!
Overall was good.
Always enjoy Primo for the quality food and good service.
We really enjoy this restaurant. I would highly recommend requesting a booth or come on a weeknight. It was very loud and crowded -we could not hear each other this past Saturday.
Valentine’s dinner weekend was delicious!!
Consistently good food and service!
Great food and service
As usual, Primo hits it on the nail again w/ their oustanding service (Marko was our server, again) and food selections. Prime New York steak was delicious.. And wine selections are plenty. Will be back soon.
High hopes, but sadly disappointed. Appetizers were wonderful, and steaks were properly cooked, but lacked any true flavor.
It was ok. Server was super nice and attentive. Steak was WAY undercooked (ordered medium, came out rare). Sent it back and it came back overdone and charred. Brussels sprouts were extremely salty and oily.
Great restaurant!!! Food is always great!!
The Valentine's day specials (steak and seafood) were very good. My wife had the scallops and I had the lobster. The dessert (carrot cake) was excellent. This is a restaurant we go to on special occasions.
Our reservation was around 7:45 pm but we got there 30 minutes earlier and they accommodated us . They have a water bottle for the table and I think that is cool even though it is just water.
Great food and great service and it was Valentine's day night!
It was an engagement dinner and my fiancé met my parents. We weren’t impressed. It was a slow Sunday afternoon but it took an extremely long time to have our order taken, we had to ask a few times for the same thing to be delivered to the table, and the food was average. Beautiful decor and friendly staff.
We are new to the area and Primo has quickly become one of our favorites! It is a beautiful place to share a meal with friends or family. We love the lasagna and ravioli and Danielle has beautifully served us on our last couple of visits. Fabulous local find!
Excellent Service. Great selection of wine. Food outstanding. A bit noisy. If you are looking for a nice quiet dinner at Primo, maybe ask for a corner table in the back.
Had the halibut and friend had pasta that was delicious. Plus 1/2 price wine was an unexpected treat. Would for sure some here again.
I would recommend Primo with some caution. We had a family post-Christmas dinner (Christmas gift from son & daughter-in-law), our choice. We've had a couple of nice dinners in the past so decided Primo would be a nice choice - close to home, nice atmosphere, good food. All was good until about halfway into our dinner. The flooded driveway and what looked like broken water pipes outside the restaurant and a large truck spreading salt, should have been our first hint. The restaurant was crowded- a short wait for our table, despite a reservation. We enjoyed drinks and our salads, along with good conversation and laughs. About halfway through dinner, the fire alarms went off. Our wait staff told us there was not a fire, just a side complication from the water pipes that were broken. We thought it would be short-lived, but after several stops only to restart, we got our check and decided to leave. This lasted 20-30 minutes before we left and the staff was still trying to turn off the alarms. It was a Friday night at 8:00 - the entire bar area was now empty and a significant part of the restaurant had left. Unfortunately, management did not offer any compensating offsets to the bill. It will be a while before we venture back to Primo's unfortunately.
Great food, great service. It was our first visit but we will definitely return.
Very pleased with our dinner. I enjoyed the Mediterranean Sea Bass that was delicious. It was served with spinach, Kalamata olives, spinach and sun dried tomatoes. My wife had her favorite braised pear ravioli.
