Good food, good service, although the food was slow in coming out (server explained that they were training a new chef). My criticism is of the servers’ attire. This is a restaurant that caters to an older crowd. Very few people were under 40. The servers were wearing short shorts and cut up jeans—just didn’t seem right for the type of restaurant and clientele.
Great Mother’s Day Dinner!
This was THE worst brunch ever. From the start, the staff was not ready after 9:30. Food stations were not ready and hostess was emptying Mariano’s cookies and donuts on to their dessert table. After we were seated, we were immediately moved to a booth with the 5th seat sticking out in the aisle. Our server didn’t take our drink order until another 5 minutes passed as she was filling coffee carafes. Then she proceeded to get 2 wrong drinks (out of 5). We then waited another 10 minutes to be told we could serve ourselves. The food was mediocre at best and the eggs Benedict ran out before we got to it. All the food was on top of the bar which couldn’t be reached by kids - age 11 and 9. The prime rib was about 75% fat. The ham appeared to be from honeybaked ham store, but was good. As mentioned, the Mariano’s desserts were subpar.
We couldn’t get out of this place faster.
The food was overall tasty. Everything is ala carte. We waited about 30 minutes for dessert but was well worth it—the apple tart.
Very inattentive service. We were forgotten about twice.
It was a great place!
We recently dines at 545 and had a wonderful experience. Handcrafted cocktails were spot on! Dinner selection wasn’t huge but the menu had something for everyone. Most importantly the meals were delicious. I had the Wolf fish, which was on special - spectacular! Service was exceptional. The server was very attentive, popped in when we needed something. We had a minor issue with a glass of wine that tasted off and the server immediately corrected. Definitely going back again.
We all enjoyed our entrees , incredibly attentive and friendly waitress . An enjoyable evening overall
Good food at 545. Enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. 3 of us enjoyed various entrees, including; Salmon, Salad and Flank steak Sandwich. All were very tasty and worth the price. Restaurant was a bit cold where we sat in our booth. When the heat was on, it was fine; but it kept kicking on/off. Overall, good meal and great service.
Great greeting from staff on arrival.
Excellent service from Shanna.
Outstanding steak and twice baked potato.
Perfect cold beer and premium Scotch.
Everything about my experience was positive since I walked in the front door. The hostess was nice and attentive. We were sat immediately in the bar area. The food and drinks were outstanding. The 545 Old Fashion was a perfect way to start my dinner. My wife loved the selection of wines that were offered. We had the Short Rib and a Ribeye. It’s going to be hard for me to try something new after such amazing dishes! Excited to come back - see you soon 545!
Great service. Very good food. Will return soon.
If you are looking for place that serves reasonably priced "meat", then 545 is the place. They have a good selection of steaks, nothing crazy like Wagu, but good quality at fair prices. If you are looking for chicken or fish, you are at the wrong place. They typically have 2 choices for each. They offer a great choices of sides to accompany any meal.
They have a nice selection of appetizers and a well stocked bar.
545 is always very energetic (noisy!), so if you are hard of hearing and want to listen to what your dinner mates are saying, good luck! That being said, the booths in back do offer some buffer to the loud bar crowd in front. The outdoor space is excellent with a fireplace, heaters , nice subtle lighting, and a somewhat secluded setting behind the restaurant.
Ordered the cobb salad, and it was probably the worst salad I've ever had. Consisted of all the worst pieces of lettuce I would normally discard and none of what you would expect in a cobb salad. Good thing it had chicken on it, as that was the only part that was edible.
Unfortunately this restaurant was recommended by some friends that we went with. They also thought the service and the food was bad on Saturday night. Service was slow food came out cold and bad. The hostess was kind enough to tell us that it was restaurant week and the kitchen was backed up. That’s why it took so long for us to even get salad at our table. The soup came out cold. I hadA chicken capris he sandwich that had one piece of basil ,chicken breast the size of my thumb and melted mozzarella on top with French bread. It was an awful sandwich. My husband had a skirt steak sandwich or a hanger steak sandwich that the size of the meat also he said was about the size of his thumb. The carrot cake for dessert was gross. It wasn’t carrot cake as you would expect cake to be with cream cheese frosting in between the layers and on the side and top. It was awful. Our waiter never asked how we were doing he was pretty much absent from our table.I feel bad for our friends we were with that recommended this place because they also had an unsatisfactory experience she ordered short ribs and the waiter said they just sold their last one and that maybe because it took the waiter so long to get to our table to get the order. I do not like leaving bad reviews but I feel it is warranted. I tried calling the restaurant and there was no manager on today and the owners don’t come back until Wednesday so there was nobody to speak with about this
Very cozy place and our waitress knew some sign language as I am deaf which made ordering food easier
This was my first visit to the restaurant. We were seated in the bar area at a table for 2. The bar area was loud but not obnoxious. We had a pre-dinner cocktail and then ordered the filet skewer appetizer which was delicious. I had the surf and turf special which was very tasty. My wife had the rigatoni. They even made some adjustments to her order based on a special request. There were a few fine wine specials available by the glass. I ordered the cabernet on special that night. Very good! We completed our meal with a shot of limoncello liquor and the crème Brule for dessert. Overall the atmosphere was very social and the food was really good. We will definitely try this restaurant again.
Great food and service but ended up in the booth directly between the men’s and ladies bathroom. A bit awkward!
My wife and I went to celebrate Valentine's day on the Saturday afterwards. My wife had been before, I had not. We were seated in a booth (our request). It took 10 minutes for the waitress to come introduce herself. However, she did not rush us the rest of the night, so maybe that was by design? My wife and I shared the spinach-artichoke dip. It was fine. The pita chips with it were so good.
For dinner, my wife got the rigatoni and I got the cobb salad with a side of brussel sprouts. Her pasta was filled with water. It was fine, but not great. My cobb salad was bland, with two hunks of chicken thrown on it. What a dissappointment. The brussel sprouts with bacon were tasty, but the sprouts were cooked, but very al dente (not my preference). Overall the dinner was disappointing. We did get waffle banana split which was a real nice dessert. Overall, with all the good choices in Libertyville, I would not go back.
Everything was great food was awesome.
Usually 545 is great but tonight they seemed to really really struggle. The service took forever and they didn’t seem swamped but maybe they were down on servers. We ordered a small plate as an appetizer but it came with the main course. Overall, the food was tasteless. My husband and I ordered short ribs and they tasted flavorless. My son had soup and it was bland. The best thing was my daughters grilled cheese. We then waited over 20 min to get the ‘special’ dessert and they ran out of components of it and just brought us ice cream on top of a brownie versus coming out to let us know and maybe chose something different. The special dessert had a shot of Makers Mark that was supposed to be lit on fire and drizzled on top of chocolate cap with the intention of melting it...but the chocolate cap was missing, so it was just a shot of makers mark all over our ice cream which tasted awful. Our server tried hard and was a nice guy but overall it was a huge miss for us at 545.
Scallops appetizer was especially disappointing. Described as bacon wrapped scallops, these three bay scallops were so small that they were seated on a piece of bacon 3/4 inches - not wrapped. Poor value for the money.
Food was very good. Salmon was very tasty, the blt sandwich was even special, bacon very high quality. We asked to move our table and staff accommodated our request quickly once they set up the table
The experience overall was just okay. We hadn't been there before so parking was confusing as it is behind the restaurant (and other businesses on that street). Signage was lacking. Also, there really isn't a dining room per se. Rather, tables along a wall by the bar and by the restrooms. Kind of disjointed really.
The food was good but by beverage experience was interesting. I ordered a draft beer but the line clearly hadn't been run/cleaned that day. It tasted awful and I sent it back. I was told the keg was a "fresh one" and they weren't sure why I didn't like it. Clearly they didn't know much about maintaining the line so I opted for a bottle instead. Suggest same just in case you give this place a try.
Great food, great service. More of a bar type atmosphere. Too bad we missed the music!
We waited less than 5 minutes to be seated at a nice table. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive. The noise level made conversation difficult as most of the dining area is next to the bar. My husband had clam chowder to start which was just ok. I had a Caesar salad to start. It was huge but had little salad dressing and I did not care for the flavor that was on it. Our entrees were tasty. My pulled pork sandwich was very good as was my husband’s burger. The food was hot which was good. The specialty drink I ordered I did not like. The waitress noticed I did not drink it and volunteered to take off the charge. This is our second time there and we thought it too loud last time. We probably will not return again any time soon as it is just too noisy there.
Great innovative menu and attentive staff. We all ordered different items and they were all great. Sat right down and enjoyed the quick service and the special clams! Came to hear Simple Elton and he did not disappoint - played my request within the first 30 minutes.
Food was delicious as always. Had a reservation but it wasn’t honored and we waited 20 min for a table. It was another 25 minutes to get our order taken. Noise level was high. Need to address cold draft that comes in every time someone opens the door.
Service was decent and everyone was very friendly, but I wouldn't go back for the food. My husband's rib eye was super fatty and my hanger steak was supposed to be medium but was so rare inside, I could barely eat it. Not really worth the money for what we got, but the ambiance and service was nice.
Great service & food at very reasonable prices. The chef knows how to prepare food that is perfectly paired & prepared. It will be noisy the closer you are to the bar, but there’s seating away from the bar that is cozy & quiet if that’s what you prefer. Highly recommend.
One of our favorite places for higher level dining without the outrageous price tag! Food is fantastic - literally everything on the menu is so good. Wine pours could be a bit more liberal . Service is usually spot on. Love the outdoor dining In the summer and the outdoor fireplace in the winter. Bar side is a little bit crowded, but it’s amazingly fun when the Hawks play! The other side of the restaurant with booth seating is more roomy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The chef rarely misses a beat! Go - you’ll love it!!!
Food was great. Service was excellent. It was Saturday night with a lively millennial crowd. We were seated near the bar so the noise level was high. Recommended. There are other seating locations far from the bar that would eliminate the high noise level.
Went to dinner on a Friday night at 545 North. We hadn't been there in some time. The restaurant has a nice décor with an inside brick wall. We were seated in the bar area which was a bit distracting as there are 2 large TVs for the bar patrons. They do not have a lot of seating outside of the bar. In the summer they have a lovely outside area. We both ordered sandwiches. I had the Reuben and my companion had the pulled pork. The food was good and was reasonably priced. The waitress was attentive. We found the area we were seated in a bit noisy which made conversation a little difficult. All in all it was a nice meal.
The ambience is cozy and inviting. The service was great
The food was delicious- unique entrees and nice fine dining. A great place !
Food was fantastic. Only "problem" was that there must have been cross-contamination of the food. I'm allergic to seafood and I ordered the veggie sandwich, but ended up with an allergic reaction because it had come in contact with seafood. Otherwise the food was delicious, service was great, etc.
Sat outside right in front of fireplace... how does it get better than that?
Came for prime rib special and we got it and loved!!!
Perfect night- TY
Went with my boyfriend and another couple on a Friday night. The ambience is nice. Ordered the salmon and roasted brussels sprouts as well as the side of mashed potatoes and found the food rather bland. To others at the table ordered the chicken taquitos which were on the special menu and thought the same. Overall pretty bland. Not sure what the fourth person ordered. It was nothing to write home about. Our server was very sweet however the service was ridiculously slow. The only thing that made up for it was that we all had a great time chatting and having drinks. Speaking of the drinks, they were fine but for a place that talks up its wine menu, I was unimpressed with the selection and prices. Head across the street to Main Street Social instead. It's fantastic!
I had a Hanger steak that was extremely tough.
My husband's was cooked properly. And the creme brulee had burnt top layer.
Not the normal level of crystallization. Flavor and experience of the desert was really not good.
We will not be returning standards have dropped over the years.
This was our first visit to 545 North and we will be back! We ate on the patio and enjoy the beautiful fall warmth.... The food was served in a timely manner, was delicious and very well prepared. Our waitress, Lexie, was very attentive and personable but without hovering. My Rib-eye steak was very well prepared.... our daughters BLT was huge and delicious... The only issues were that they were out of 12oz Filet Mignon and my wife's Salmon was a little under cooked in the center of the dish.... Otherwise a very enjoyable evening!
Enjoyed sitting outside on the deck near the fire even though the air was cool. Fast and friendly service from the time we walked in until we left. Enjoyed the food a great deal. Flank steak was very tender. Rigatoni was just more than al dente and wonderfully spiced. Enjoyed so craft beers. We'll be back
