Stopped into 801 Local @801localstlouis in Frontenac and wasn’t sure what to expect, but the place delivers. First thing you notice? The giant English bulldog statue. It’s not just a quirky photo op. Strong, grounded, kind of charming in its own way. Felt like a subtle signature of the place. I ordered the blackened mahi sandwich #stlouispescatarianapproved and I’m really starting to love blackened spices. That bold, smoky flavor with just enough heat to wake things up is my fave. The fish was cooked just right flaky and fresh and the sandwich came together so well it didn’t need any dressing up. The space is sleek but comfortable, and the menu has a solid mix of refined and approachable items. Definitely a spot I’d come back to, especially when I’m in the mood for something that feels elevated but not overdone. #801local #frontenacfood #stlfoodie #blackenedmahi #mahisandwich #seafoodlove #stleats #stlrestaurants #bulldogvibes #foodreview #stlouismo #lunchspot #hiddenstlgems #stlscene #elevatedcasual #cozychic #restaurantvibes #lunchdate #mahilove #blackenedspice #midwestfoodie #stlspotlight #foodstagram #seafoodsandwich #boldflavors #comfortandstyle #supportlocalstl #eatstl #foodiefinds

Their brunch pick two for $22 was barely a snack. 2 1/2” long french dip with very little meat. A half full cup of soup with literally 1” depth of soup in a 3” wide bowl. It was embarrassing. For little add’l food cost the restaurant could have delivered a satisfying meal. Three of us experienced the same thing.

Whole restaurant is quite loud. Area where we sat had uncomfortable a.c. blowing. Food good. My areas of concern will cause me to hesitate before a return.

Sat on the patio. Server, Bobby V, was attentive, friendly and helpful. There were 3 in our party. Ordered the filet, the sea bass, and the tuna entrees. Each was great!

Atmosphere was upbeat and very social. There were several groups of people celebrating. Our waiter Brett was very polite, helpful, funny, and accommodating. Our food was very good and the portions were filling. Highly recommend for a date night or more social event.

This is my second time here first time was extraordinary Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. We ordered appetizers which had extraordinary presentation, but lacking in flavor. Two of us ordered the prime rib, which did not have the richness that the king of cuts normally possess. Do not think it was properly seasoned, and likely not prime. My wife had short ribs which were cooked properly however also lack in depth of flavor normally attributed with this cooking process. Desserts were excellent. And lastly service was quite good

They made us feel so special for our 4th anniversary! They had special menus that said Happy Anniversary at the top and gave us complimentary dessert. Our waiter was attentive and funny; we had a great evening!
