Akira Back is an impressively beautiful restaurant. We were seated in front of the window which gave us an amazing and romantic view of the city. The menu is modern and the wine is extensive. If you are unable to read Thai or English, they provide you with a touch screen tablet to browse through pictures of every dish on the menu.
We indulged ourselves on about 10 items on the menu (along with 2 bottles of red wine), ranging from smaller to larger servings. We both felt that the most outstanding item on the menu was the 48 hour short rib. It was phenomenal. Other notables were the Hamachi Tartare, all the chicken skewers, and tuna pizza.
The service was also outstanding. The staff was attentive and we had no problem getting their attention when we needed to request something.
Amazing food. Enjoyed every bite. Great service and view!!
So so dishes, over priced
Very interesting and tasty fusion. Korean twist on all of the dishes we ordered. Although there had been an issue with the person taking a reservation adjustment, the Manager more than made up for it.
I'm in Bangkok several times a year, and will be back
Overall is very good.
I booked at 1.30pm but today I arrived early at 1 pm. The staff wait at the elevator g floor since then and take us to the restaurant. All staff is nice and polite. The foods are mostly fusion food. I ordered about 10 plates; Tuna pizza, Salmon Tiradito, AB tacos, 24hr Wagyu ribs, Wagyu fried rice, Perfect Storm roll, Pork Belly Roll, Coconut mochi with mango ice cream and Chocolate Lava Soufflé. All is good but if ask me the ‘MUST’ I would proudly recommend Tuna pizza, 24hr Wagyu rib, Perfect storm roll and Chocolate lava Soufflé. The service is professional as fine dining restaurant. Staff would serve dish with the food description. The atmosphere is good and seats are comfortable. Of course the price is high even you use club Marriott for discount. However, it is worthy for this grade of food, service and atmosphere. I definitely visit again
The food was terrific. Original and delicious.
The service was super attentive. Maybe a little too much so. Staff hovering around the table becomes a bit uncomfortable.
The music was, for me, horrible. Original food, super commercial, pop music. The jazz played in the bathroom would be much more fitting.
My one other complaint would be the beer list. You only carry expensive, Japanese beer most people have never heard of. Why? I see this as a way to pad the bill. Why not have a choice. Ashahi or Sapporo or some other beer people might be familiar with? Otherwise, you are ordering blind and might end up with a beer you can’t stand.
The room was not really cosy or warm. Mostly grey with granite floors and marble tables. Quite cold in appearance, actually.
Quick fix would be to carpet the floor.
Again, loved the food, staff were nice and we will come back.
