We paid 25 dollars to get there by taxi and there was a handwritten sign on the door saying closed until further notice. Open table made the booking to a restaurant that looked like it had been closed for a while.

We have dined at Al Bacio on 3 occasions in the last 6 months, twice with guests and once on our own. Each time the food has been excellent: expertly prepared, delicious and made with the freshest ingredients. From appetizer to dessert, the food has consistently been outstanding. The inside restaurant decor is fresh, clean, comfortable and attractive. Unfortunately, the service is best described as “indifferent.” At each visit, we have waited much longer than acceptable to be greeted by our server, and have needed to make requests for simple things such as beverages, bread and appetizers numerous times before they are produced. We don’t mind waiting a bit longer for the delicious entrees. However, we do mind when one entree comes out much sooner than the others, and that has happened at each of our visits. The servers never seem to think that is a problem, as there is never an apology. In fact, at times, the servers seem to be inconvenienced in some way by the customer. One gets the impression that they don’t seem to care if the restaurant is successful. Indeed, we have never found the restaurant to be crowded, even on a Friday night. It is a shame, as the food is truly exemplary, and the chef is doing an amazing job. The food is frankly the only reason we returned after the first visit. However, we are a bit gun-shy about bringing guests - at least not without a huge disclaimer. Be forewarned if you go: the food is wonderful, the service not so much.

The food at this restaurant was delicious but the service left something to be desired. We had to ask for refills of water and when he did refill the glasses, he only refilled half of the table and didn’t come back until we asked for the rest to be filled. My daughter wanted chicken Parmesan, but wanted the chicken grilled. He seemed to have difficulty understanding what she wanted. We asked for bread, after asking three times, he brought out exactly 8 half pieces for our table of 8. After a while he brought out another basket, which we didn’t ask for and then charged for that. We had friends in from out of state and picked this restaurant on Park Ave to take them to. Though the food was prepared very well, the service certainly took away from it.

The accommodation to our request for table location was perfect. The service was great as was the food. Al Bacio is a geat place to casually dine with reasonable prices and still be on Park Avenue. Thanks for being here Al BAcio.

The food was creative, though a little slow in delivery. Service was adequate though I got myself a refill on water. No one asked if we wanted another cocktail.

I reserved an outside table and was told there was none available when we arrived. I watched an open 2 person table sit empty for the majority of our meal. Also did not get bread service when every other table did. And they ran out of my first meal choice. Food was very good though!

Be careful to check your bill. The restaurant automatically adds 20% gratuity to the bill if it exceeds $100. They do not give you the option to leave your discretion of gratuity. This is not fair business practices especially after the service didn’t deserve 20%. The 20% gratuity is added to the check AND TAX amount. I won’t return and would caution patrons to view their check carefully. Menu doesn’t state gratuity is automatically added either!
