Warmth, hospitality and enjoying life - Welcome to Alpenrose!
I have been to Austria & Germany, this was the best schnitzel I’ve ever eaten!!!!
My family gives this restaurant five star rating. Everything was exceptional. The food was amazing. So fresh and tasty. Our server (Theresa) was a doll. She was so helpful and knowledgeable about both the food and the drink selection. The atmosphere was so unique, you really felt like you were in an Austrian Village. If you are in Vail, you should definitely check it out.
The only caveat: You've got to like Austrian food, because that's what this place serves. Start with a shot boot of ZIRBENSCHNAPS to get warmed up, followed by a large glass of Austrian wine. Continue warming up with a soup, such as the beef broth-based RINDFLEISCH SCHÖBERLN. From there, you can't go wrong, as the Schnitzel, Spatzle, duck legs (KNUSPRIGE ENTENKEULE), or anything else you order. Don't forget to wrap things up with APFELSTRUDEL, featuring apples sent from Austria. Of course.
The remodel looks great, and the food and service was fantastic. We look forward to dining there again on our next trip.
Overall the food and service was excellent. Loved the ambience and our server was beyond authentically nice. I highly recommend.
It was hard to eat the raclette
Toda la comida excelente y el Strudel es el mejor
Decor was authentic and beautiful. Service was great. And the food was great as well. Some of the best duck I have had in quite some time. Good kids menu. Overall really nice experience for the family.
A great spot for fondue in a classic Austrian mountain cabin setting! The food is delicious and the ambiance is adorable!
The service was so rushed we were served and ushered out before we could barely drink our first glass of wine.
Not very relaxing for what could have been an elegant cozy meal. The food was good and the place looks great, but it was a very pricy 45 minutes for an adult dinner out!
Ok perfect Restaurant
Their sister restaurant Almresi was booked up so decided to try Alpenrose. Ambience is why you go not for food. Limited menu, not as good as Almresi.
Menu limited but deserts are very good. The Weiner schnitzels are excellent.
We have loved sitting on the outside patio for lunch. But our dinner experience was less fun. The decor is authentic Alpine, but there is such a thing as TOO cozy. The tables are very close together and it was too hot in the restaurant (we dined upstairs). We opted for an early dinner (5:15), which was a mistake. It was still happy hour (and had been for almost 2 hours), so the noise level was deafening. Wait staff is very professional and fun. Food was authentic Alpine food, but combined with the stuffy atmosphere, we couldn't wait to get back out into the fresh air. We will go back, but probably just for lunch.
We had never been here before but wanted to try a new German restaurant. Alpenrose ll is such a cute place! The staff are very friendly and attentive. They made some great recommendations and we couldn’t have been more pleased. It’s a small restaurant and such a nice ambience. I definitely recommend this place!
Authentic food- had the schnitzel and spatzele and it was delicious- good German beer selection and great strudel. Waiters were attentive and wore traditional German outfits.
Please bring back the veal wiener schnitzel
I really like the improvements at Alpenrose 2. The interior was given a much needed facelift and the menu is quite authentic. Our favorite is the Alp bruschetta - which is quite large and filling and contains a number of delicious items. The only drawback is the limited entree menu. If you don't eat veal or fish, there are not a lot of other options and we felt that an authentic chicken dish would be a nice addition. This is our second visit this season and we enjoyed both visits.
Outstanding meal and service. We started with the large brotzeitbrett appetizer - everything on the board was scrumptious! Tons of food - could have made a meal for 2 just from the appetizer. The warm bread was really good! Shnitzel was also delicious - loved the ligonberry sauce on the side. The spaetzle and cabbage was also great. Dessert was recommended by our server - kaiserschmarnn - also delicious though the dough could have been a tad lighter/fluffier. Add Alpenrose to your "must dine" list when in Vail!
First time we ate at Alpenrose. We will go back the next time we are in Vail. Wonderful food served by attentive staff that didn’t hover. Best goulash ever!
Very crowded and I was bumped into often during our meal as we were seated by the bar and there was not any waiting room. The food was not anything special and the plum cake was served cold. Decor was interesting though.
We were seated in a wonderful
Area near the bar. Very cozy and delicious food.
Awesome! More schnapps please!
We went for a Valentine’s Day date. I was not familiar with most of the items in the menu so our waiter did a very good job of explaining them and giving suggestions and directions on eating. The place was adorable and so cozy.
We were looking forward to a wonderful meal at Alpenrose. We have dined there in the past. We were disappointed in 4/5 dinners. 2 were served cold. Spartzle was dry, it needed a bit more butter or cheese,
The only item that everyone agreed was delicious was the red cabbage. So disappointed 😞
We had an amazing evening celebrating our visiting long-time friends’ 50th anniversary: The food was superb, the service was excellent, & the renovated interior & the atmosphere it creates are perfect! I had called ahead the same day to see if they might have a “small, yummy, chocolatey German/Austrian-style cake” they could bring to our table for dessert as a surprise for our friends, who had lived in Germany for a number of years . . . & the pastry chef MADE US A YULE LOG THAT AFTERNOON!!! It was truly to die for & a huge hit with our friends!!
I love this place! Beautifully decorated, just love this place. Great service and great food! I love there ice balls in the drinks! They put true art into the food!
Such a special spot! The decor, servers and food are so Tyrolean. Our servers were precious, all either German or Austrian, and our meal delicious. The decor is warm friendly and alpine themed. We love coming here. Won’t miss it each trip to Vail.
Great place. Our 10 year old twins enjoyed it very much. It would also be a great place to go as a couple.
lovely place, wonderful food and fun experience. will definitely be back, would be fun with a big group
This is a charming and authentic Austrian restaurant, very warm and relaxing with wonderful ambiance. The food was delicious with lovely presentation. The staff were all professional but very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Great spot offering authentic food, atmosphere, and servers! Highly recommend!
This is a very cozy restaurant. Great for couples and families. It's like sitting in a small chalet in the European alps. The only unfortunate is that they used to have a great pastry and cake selection, but now that has changed. It would be great if they get them back on the menu. However the food is very good and the potions are of good size. A definite must if you like German/Austrian food.
Fabulous food and great service!
Alpenrose has been a kongtime staple so I was saddened to hear it had closed. But chamge can be good and in this case even great!!! The Almresi team’s relaunch as Alpenrose II is wonderful. Updated interior and fresh menu, you won’t be disappointed.
We love the new menu! We tried the fondue and it was wonderful. We’ll definitely come back and try the Duck
Excellent authentic Austrian experience! I felt like I was there! Food was very good and service was great.
Skillful refresh of one of Vail’s dining institutions. Menu offers excellent (and eminently shareable) examples of traditional Alpine dishes. Service is welcoming, and congenially professional, as well as (on the evening we went) superbly calm and good humored in the face of an invasion of children under 10. The compact and accessibly priced (for Vail) wine list is what makes Alpenrose II a unique experience, offering the opportunity to broaden your palate and explore the wonderful wines of Austria, Germany, and the Italian Alpine regions. Don’t be a stick-in-the-mud and cling to familiar grape varieties. Your server will guide you and you will discover something new and delightful, like the Heinrich Zweigelt we enjoyed.
We only had a couple of quibbles. The renovation did not include a re-do of the windows, so don’t sit with your back to the windows if you are susceptible to drafts. There is some heat coming up between your back and the windows, but for some reason, management blocks this with pillow inserts. Second, is that seating can be quite challenging unless you are young and fit. Benches are hard and either very upright or backless, chairs are equally demanding, and bar seating seems designed to discourage lingering.
Despite the great wine offerings, standard wine glasses are overly large, flat bottomed cut-glass goblets which are pre-set. These immediately turn your wine (served in cute little carafes) to room temperature, which is unfair to the superb white wines. If you ask, staff may be able to swap the pre-set clunkers for appropriate glassware, but it was awkward to have to ask.
Food was good, presentation excellent! Perfect for get together.
