Every experience at the restaurant is always five star. The food quality is as good as you would find anywhere in the world the service is amazing and the quality of wine is second to none. There is a relaxed approach by the waitstaff and with the addition of a Pinot noir from the Mornington Peninsula, called Birchwood Lane there is nothing but five star experience to be had at this magnificent eatery in New Street Brighton. I thoroughly recommend you to try yourself.

Aromi is great and the staff are fabulous, however, just a little disappointed that whilst there isn’t any children option on the menu, charging $30 for bolognese for children aged 6 and 9 is steep. We’ve been to other restaurants who have done similar and the prices were never the same as the main menus / adults. We weren’t even communicated this would be the cost, until we received the bill.

We dined at AROMI last night, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear this place understands hospitality. The door was opened for us on arrival, a small gesture that immediately set the tone. We were shown to our table and offered a choice of sparkling or still water without hesitation. From there, everything flowed effortlessly and professionally. Service was exceptional. Three waiters attended to our table across the evening, each polished, attentive, and without fuss. A special mention to one in particular whose personality elevated the experience, engaging, witty, and completely natural. He struck that rare balance between professionalism and genuine warmth. Now, the food. Quite simply, outstanding. We worked through five starters, each thoughtfully presented and genuinely delicious. Not a weak link. Every dish showed intent, balance, and respect for ingredients. A standout moment came with my partner’s main, handmade spaghetti with clams. It was meant to be served with chilli oil, which she initially declined. After tasting the dish, she asked for it on the side. The difference was immediate. The chilli oil wasn’t optional, it was integral. It completed the dish. That says a lot about the kitchen. Nothing is there unnecessarily. Every component contributes to the overall balance exactly as intended. And then dessert. Paolo’s tiramisu. Paolo, the owner and chef, clearly knows what he’s doing. It was breathtaking, the kind of dessert that stops conversation. The gelato looked handmade and was served in a chilled bowl so it held perfectly. A small touch, but one that speaks volumes. AROMI delivers not just a meal, but a complete dining experience. Thoughtful, polished, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish. We’ll be back.

FAQs

Yes, Aromi is an excellent pick for date night. Guests frequently describe the space as romantic, moody and decadent, and the team often creates a warm, intimate experience ideal for celebrations or special evenings. Expect elegant Italian dishes, a considered wine and cocktail list, and attentive service from hosts who make nights feel memorable. For peak romantic ambience, book an evening table in the dining room and mention it’s a special occasion when you reserve.

Portions at Aromi are generally generous and thoughtfully plated. Many guests report generous servings, starters and mains are balanced and satisfying, with several diners commenting that dishes are more than ample and good value for lunch. A few guests noted variability on certain dishes (some felt a ragu was less slow-cooked than expected), so portions are generous but the composition can vary by dish.

Yes, Aromi welcomes families and guests of all ages, but spaces vary. Guests often bring children and celebrate birthdays here; kids’ dishes like gnocchi and spaghetti have been mentioned. However, some guests were seated in the café area (which can be noisier and less formal) when they expected the dining room. If you need accessible seating or a quieter family table, call ahead and request the dining room to ensure the best fit.

The best time depends on the experience you want. For a lively, special-occasion evening, choose Friday or Saturday night when the atmosphere is buzzy. If you prefer a quieter, more relaxed meal, weekday evenings (Tue–Thu) or lunch sessions are often calmer and excellent value. Guests also praise weekday and lunch visits for being light, airy and great value, so consider those times for a more low-key visit.

Aromi’s atmosphere is warm, moody and authentically Italian, many guests describe it as cozy, romantic and perfect for dates or celebrations. The service is often praised as attentive and friendly, creating a welcoming, neighbourhood vibe. A few guests mentioned occasional loud music or closely spaced tables on busy nights, so if you prefer a very quiet table ask for the dining room and an early or quieter seating.

Casual dress is the stated dress code at Aromi. Guests tend to dress smart-casual for the elegant dining setting, a neat, relaxed look is appropriate whether you’re coming for a date night or a celebratory meal.

Yes, Aromi’s team is described as accommodating and attentive, and guests often praise staff for personal touches (coat checks, thoughtful recommendations, birthday surprises). If you have dietary needs, a seating preference, or are celebrating an occasion, call ahead to discuss your request so the team can prepare and ensure the best possible experience.

Yes, families do dine at Aromi and guests report children enjoying dishes like gnocchi, spaghetti and simple pasta options. The restaurant feels welcoming to kids, but because the focus is on refined Italian cooking in an elegant setting, there isn’t a formal kids’ menu advertised. For families with young children consider an earlier seating and mention any needs when booking to secure a comfortable table.

There’s no direct mention of an official waiting list, but Aromi is popular for weekends and special occasions and can be busy. Guests recommend booking in advance, particularly for Friday/Saturday evenings or celebratory tables, and calling if you have timing or seating needs. If you prefer less bustle, opt for weekday evenings or lunch.

Aromi is typically busiest on Friday and Saturday evenings, when the atmosphere is lively and many guests visit for celebrations. Lunches and weekday evenings (Tue–Thu) tend to be quieter and are often praised for being great value and more relaxed. If you want the most peaceful experience, choose a weekday evening or a lunch service when available.

For a lively, celebratory night, Friday or Saturday is ideal; the restaurant buzzes with atmosphere. For a quieter, relaxed meal or great-value lunch, choose a weekday (Tue–Thu) or Friday lunchtime. Many guests highlight weekday lunches and early evenings as especially pleasant if you prefer a calmer experience.
