My partner and I were traveling from Seattle and thought this experience would be a enjoyable. It was not. From start to finish our stay and meal was sub-par at most. We both work in the industry and eat at lovely places with regularity, and this place truly is a waste of money and time you could otherwise spend at one of the amazing other Inn's in Vermont.

We were new to this area, having visited for the Marlboro Music Festival and selected Artisan restaurant based on reviews in Open Table and the fact that it took reservations. We are very happy with our choice. The food, ambiance and service were excellent and the prices very reasonable. Our waiter was helpful, prompt and had a nice sense of humor. We look forward to returning during the next Marlboro season.

The menu looked wonderful! The real thing less so. The smoked trout was chewy and unappetizing, topped with some sweet jam that seemed not appropriate. The bloody Marys were great. The service was really friendly but ineffective (forgot to refill coffee, had to ask a couple of times). It was just ok. Not bad, but not great either. Grounds are very pretty.

It's always a pleasure dining here. The staff is super friendly and while the food has always been good, Chef Erin has really stepped it up. Highly recommend!

We had an outstanding experience at Artisan this past weekend. The food was inventive, supremely fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The polenta cakes with wild mushrooms were especially memorable, as was the chilled zucchini soup. The ambiance is sophisticated rustic, and we were pleased that the management honored our request for a banquette table. Service was very friendly and attentive, but not hovering. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are anywhere within the vicinity. It's worth going out of your way, and take the time to stroll the gardens which are beautiful.

We’re very happy the inn and restaurant have reopened after being closed for many years. It’s the most beautiful inn and best restaurant in the area.

Of the 4 meals ordered, 1 (scallops) was excellent, 1 (pork chop) was tasty but quite tough, the other 2 (veal) were only OK. The service was quite slow and we were there for nearly 3 hours. We were reminded a number of times that the kitchen was "backed up" but for the supposed quality and price of the restaurant and food, it was not very acceptable. The noise level was very high and I could hardly hear the person sitting next to me. Finally, a "doggie bag" was requested but not supplied.

I was invited to join a group of old and new friends, to listen to an awesome Jazz trio, while having some great food at your beautiful location. However, the waitress was new at her job, unsure of certain things on the menu, unable to run far too many tables in her section. Others tried to pick up the slack, however the wrong food came to our table twice, with food then taking more than 45 minutes to arrive; with an unpresentable cheese plate that sat with us the entire night, instead the waitress bringing it back and fixing it. She claimed two old crusty moldy pieces were blue cheese, but they clearly were not. Another was too hard to eat all of it. On top of that the credit card tip was crossed out and a huge cash one left, but my friend was still charged what turned out to be a 55% tip?? I loved cheeseburger, fish and chips, and the special pasta with shrimp and tarragon was amazing. However, the french fries were in a pool of grease. The music was great, though a bit too loud at first, but that was our fault choosing a corner table where the sound reverberated. Overall, the food was good, and the manager finally arrived at the end, comped the cheese plate and desert and coffee, but better eyes on the front line should’ve caught the hardened cheeses and the undrained fries.
