Avra Madison Estiatorio on 60th
STILL Very delish!
And wonderful service where you’re attended to but not rushed!
This was my first time there. I have heard about this one and the other location for quite some time but never managed to go. I made a reservation a few weeks ago for a special birthday. The waitress, Corri was very nice and super polite, attentive and knowledgable of the menu and specials, overall she was great. The food was fantastic and delicious. I highly recommend the crabcake, the Lavraki and roasted potatoes. I'll definitely go back for another special occasion. It's overall on the pricey side but for my first time, it beyond exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it very much. Food was excellent.
Enjoy one of their many fine wines with the village salad, which has a mountain of beautifully sweet , ripe tomatoes that have bright acid- JUST DELICIOUS. Zucchini chips are addictive and the Octopus is perfect.
You can make an amazing meal out of the apps. Love this place.
Fantastic as usual!
Our food was incredible. Our server Mike made us feel like we were home and suggested we try an amazing new ice desert with mango and it was soo delicious. Thank you AVRA and thank you Mike.
Great birthday dinner at AVRA!!
Best fish and Greek cuisine in NYC.
Special shoutout to server Scott for making the evening extra special for us. Really great service!! Super attentive and just went out of his way to make our celebration special!!!
A worth while dining experience, enhanced by our waitress Christine, who was personable and knowledgeable of all the menu item as she guided us through our dinner choices.
One suggestion, put Ouzo on the “Drink Menu” not just on the Dessert menu. I do wanted to have Ouzo with my fish!
Thank you, wife and I enjoyed having dinner as part of our 50th Wedding anniversary celebration in the Big Apple!
Has all the hallmarks of a great restaurant with the exception of the young women who greeted us. The entire staff was wonderful, they only need to improve how they greet customers at the door.
Service was great, food was delish and pricing was very expensive.
Very professional wait staff and the food was delicious as always 👌🏾
We have been going here for years and used to love this place but last two times have not been good. Seems like the place got too cool to care about its customers and too big as kitchen can’t keep up. The restaurant ran out of 2 items on the menu at 8pm, how does that happen in the city on a Wednesday night? The wait between appetizers and entrees was 45 minutes as kitchen was too busy! Service was very poor, inattentive and almost non existent, we had to constantly search for a waiter to get menus, place orders and get dirty dishes taken away! For a $700 dinner one really expects better; better vibe, better service and more class. Very sad how this place degraded.
Very nice restaurant with beautiful people and great service , it has two floors, very spacious, fresh fish and amazing pasta with lobster !
Have been many times to Avra for dinner and now I can say that also brunch is very good!!!! Still one of our favorite restaurants!!!
Food is very good but service is greatly lacking.
Excellent restaurant. I would avoid Friday nights if you are a New Yorker, the ambiance changes with out of Manhattan people and some of the magic is gone.
As usual, it was a wonderful experience!
Great restaurant. Prices are a little high but that is to be expected for this area. Food and service is unmatched!
I'm sorry to report that this eating experience was not what I have experienced so may times in the past and how many people I have urged to visit this restaurant! It was lunch on Friday - it was crowded (yea)
the server was delightful - the food less so: the always wonderful bread that comes to the table with mezze was STALE - fortunately thew Greek salad was as good as always and so was the Spanikopita..
the fish of the day was white snapper (unknown to me) and the vegetable side was a grey version of Greek vegetable melange of peas, artichoke, potatoes and herbs..sounds good doesn't it? it was ALL overcooked and plated with a white fish - it was less than appetizing! dessert was as good as always - both the chocolate mousse and the nut cake an a birthday candle was included for my friend's birthday..
I really am sooo very sorry to be writing such a negative review because I truly like this restaurant ..I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to put my thoughts in writing ...
Food is great and the three course lunch is a bargain
Beautiful restaurant. Very expensive as expected on 60th street off 5th Ave. Grilled fresh fish was very good, but no better than many other Manhattan Greek restaurants at much more reasonable prices.
Save it for out of towners or a business dinner, which is exactly what we did.
Place is beautiful. Food good not perfect. Pricey
From the minute my wife and I stepped into Avra, we were graciously greeted by the Hostess Staff-led by Talia. We were then sitted at a table in the location we had requested on our Open Table Reservation Form. Our waiter Mike was extremely cordial and helpful with his Wine List and Entree suggestions-Which were GREAT! He also did a great job with a dessert choice-Avra Madison and MIke(and his assistants and his sense of humor) were the BEST! Looking forward to our next visit-
Thanks and Keep up the appreciated experience we shared!
Avra is an excellent restaurant - always consistent and we love it! The food is excellent, the service is always great and the ambiance is fun! Always a bar scene and jut a good spot to dine - evening and lunch!
Felt a little rush.
Everything would have been perfect except for the fact that I had a reservation for 4 and they never told me when I arrived that two of my friends were downstairs waiting. They had me waiting upstairs for a table along with the 4th person.
Delicious food. Great salmon and truffle fries. The salad was ok.
We were seated downstairs. I think they thought we were tourists. Upstairs is a better dining experience.
we had terrible service. the side dishes were served after we finished our main course. they comped us dessert. they knew service was Wful
Way too loud! Surprisingly, only farmed fish at a fish restaurant. No wonder led salmon which is unusual these days. And extremely expensive for nothing to accompany entree. My last time there.
Nice table size; food was quality Greek. No surprises. Good service.
Birthday celebration! Food was excellent as always. Our server was very attentive and offered advice on dishes I inquired about. Still one of my favorite restaurants in NYC.
Excellent experience, friendly service and fabulous food!
Made to wait 30 minutes beyond the reservation time
They offer an amazing $29.50 lunch menu that has lots of choices and is an excellent value for 3 courses. Much pricier for dinner. Food and service are great. Highly recommend.
My server Adrian and the runner Lino were exceptional. Adrian explained the fish and walked us over to fish on ice to recommend several options for the table. The shrimp and fish were prepared to perfection and split up for the table into individual plates. It's easy to find a nice restaurant but service to match is a harder find in NY so I really appreciate them making my mother's birthday special. The decor and ambiance is lovely and the food is fresh. Highly recommend.
Avra Madison never fails to inspire!
From the magnificent decor and opulent space.
(Feel welcomed and inspired)
To the delicious (best served family style) Greek dining experience.
Charcoal grilled Fagri (Mediterranean Snapper) is off the chart!
The service is world class from the managers and servers to the front desk.
All smiling helpful and informative.
Lance and Jasmine were serving us and they were both superb! Engaging friendly and knowledgeable while also knowing when and when not to engage.
In my opinion its the best Greek Restaurant in NYC.
I will return again and again..
Experience was amazing
Great food. Pricey but very worth it. Loud upstairs, quieter downstairs.
All good we where seated promptly service and food terrific. Just a little pricey
I love Avra on Madison. Tonight the kitchen was just simply off its game.
