The two-story restaurant, spanning 8,000-square-feet, is located in the heart of restaurant row in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. Upon entering, there is a bustling bar and on the second floor, a vibrant dining room, both connected by an arresting illuminated sculpture inspired by Siena Tavern's olive tree icon.
Bar Siena is the perfect location for weekday lunch, dinner, happy hour or weekend brunch. If you're looking for something a little sweeter, stop by Bar Siena's side-concept and walk-up window, BomboBar, located on Green Street. Grab a coffee, bomboloni, gelato or hot chocolate to go!
My husband and I love Bar Siena and have come here many times. Sometimes it’s just for drinks (they have great cocktails!), sometimes it’s for the ambience, and sometimes it’s for dinner - and each time and reason is great. On this particular night, we came for dinner and everything was amazing! Even though it was busy, they seated us right away (we had a reservation) and the service was great.
We chose this restaurant based on reviews and the menu. While the food was incredible the service was pretty good but a little on the slow side, we were here on a business trip during a trade show and I must be honest and that this place is extremely loud! That was the only thing that we weren’t very pleased with but the food more than made up for the noise.
Good food, awesome service, overall good vibe
Great place to celebrate a birthday. Food and service was excellent. Will be returning soon.
Great atmosphere. Terrific food. Great service. Highly recommend.
Great food, location, ambiance. Luckily we were able to sit outside - it is too noisy inside to have a conversation. A little pricey: $40 for an appetizer containing 4 scallops.
I was a lone female diner completely ignored by Cesar, my assigned server, until well after Megan the server crossed out of her area, took my order, sent someone up to fix my wobbly table, and checked in on me. The couple seated 18 inches away from me 30 mins later was attentively cared for by Caesar, who continued to ignore me most of the night unless he was showing up AFTER Megan refilled my drink, asked me how was my food, etc. Caesar did bring me a dessert menu about 5 minutes after I’d declined dessert to Megan. But he was lickety split with the check, which listed him as my server. I crossed him out and put Megan - I hope she gets the tip.
Bar Siena’s food is very high quality. They split the salad portion for me but they don’t split pasta portions, which I found disappointing in a menu touting small plates.
It was the Packer/Bears season opener and every TV was on. That was great for me, but had I been there for a nice dinner with a sweetie, it may have been a buzzkill. Normally I like a sports bar to be a sports bar and a restaurant to be a restaurant, but an NFL season opener with the Pack is an acceptable excuse for big screens. If you don’t like TV as decor, this place is not for you.
Excellent waitress, delicious food!
Attention to detail is not the hallmark of the service staff. Our silverware and napkins arrived well after our first appetizer, and only when, with some effort, we flagged down a staffer; drink glasses were left empty. And the food is pricey relative to the value. The outdoor seating is a bit of a saving grace.
Great waiter. Food was amazing!
Fun but noisy. Food was fine and service was ok
The brunch was amazing!
Great bartenders! And fantastic server. Food was delicious and top of my list of dinner nights out.
I loved Bar Siena. The food is beautiful and tasty and service was very good. We sat outside so can't really speak to noise level, and it was lunchtime... It was a little expensive but worth the treat. I can't wait to go back.
I choose their brunch menu over dinner, but everything tastes really good. Very nice service
Great Service, Great Food and Great atmosphere. Right in the middle of the gentrified area of the West Loop.
Nice food drinks and service but WAY too expensive (70 pp for small appetizer and 2 drinks)
As a first timer here, we wished the service was better. The waitress was not friendly and not attentive. She brought our check to us when we hadn’t even asked for it and we still wanted to order more drinks. Then when telling her we wanted to order more drinks, she rudely said she asked if we wanted anything else. None of us heard her ask that. She could have been more attentive and stopped to talk to us while making eye contact- But instead she would zoom past the table without giving us full attention. And when finally receiving our check, again, she placed it quickly and rushed away from our table. Other than the lack of service, the food and drinks were great.
This place is so overrated! Way too expensive for fine food. Nothing we ate we really enjoyed.
Megan was a great server!!!
The food was amazing, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and super sweet! We loved the ambience!
Great service and food was amazing
Fantastic! As always this is a great restaurant. I took 2 foodies here for dinner. One from LA and the other from Cincinnati and they were both impressed. Starting with the fig pizza then four small plates to share. They ordered I simply suggested the short rib lasagna. Great server. It can be a bit loud but we ate at 930 and it was at a very moderate level.
We really liked the interior of the restaurant. Everything was clean and decorated very nicely. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. Our appetizers were outstanding, but we didn't enjoy our entrees as much. The chicken from the chicken parmesan sandwich was a little tough and the spinach cappellacci pasta was a little dry. Overall, we would definitely go back and try it a second time!
Disappointing Experience. Terrible Food & Service. It was my birthday, we got a great both inside. We Ordered the pizza half carne half mushroom garlic, it came out charred burned black. The entire pizza was fried crisp and the bottom was just black burned char, I don't know why they would even let that pizza leave the kitchen. The octopus we ordered was hard and over cooked and a very tiny portion for the price ($18.00) The manager who came by to apologize for the pizza seemed like we were bothering him by sending it back. We finished the octopus and sat there for 15 minutes with out food. I had to ask the manager for a glass of wine since the server was not around. The server seemed overly occupied and hardly checked on us. He ordered food for himself to eat while we were finishing our pizza, he went in the back and ate his food and we never saw him. He came back out and dropped off a desert menu and disappeared again for more than 10-15 minutes not even coming back to see if we actually wanted desert. I finally asked another girl passing by for our check as we wanted to leave. She brought it over and finally the waiter Daniel said "oh no desert" almost surprised... I said no, we'd like to go. We had been sitting with out any food in front of us completely cleared off for over 15 minutes at this point. At no point did he at least try bringing out a candle and doing anything for my birthday. The check came out, nothing was comped for having to wait, or the burnt pizza or at least the glass of wine I ordered. Nothing. Food was below mediocre, the service poor and the restaurant wasn't even busy just a few tables inside, no excuse. I will definitely not return nor recommend this place to any of my friends. Our bill was $80 and a total rip off and not worth it at all.
Great for brunch!
The food was great, but the music was way too loud. There was a DJ playing some GREAT music, loved the tunes and dancing in my seat, but it was so loud, I couldn't hear my wife from across the table...
Enjoyed our first experience very much ... Our server Aaron was very helpful and friendly. We shared several dishes and enjoyed them all. The pizza was outstanding . The vibe was by brand and fun! Will return
Few things grind my gears more than when I have a reservation at a place and they refuse to seat until the entire party arrives. My sister was caught in traffic from the Air and Water show and the restaurant was 1/2 empty. It wouldn’t kill you to seat 5 out of 6 people. So instead, we were forced to be in everyone’s way while the hostess sat in Instagram. When we were finally seated, our server barely checked in on us and it took forever to get our water/drinks. We all probably would have ordered at least 1 more round of drinks had when been seated immediately and our server had been a bit more attentive.
The food was great but the service was very lacking. The server was slow, took forever to take our order, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy.
Amazing food and service
The prosciutto and fig pizza and parmesan crusted cauliflower were SO GOOD! Drinks were amazing, though I had the No.18 while my friend had the No.24, which I thought had more of a kick to it. Our server was so sweet, always coming back to check on us when she noticed we needed something. Super quick, definitely going back there again! Also, the pricing was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, which is always a plus!
Food could of been better but the waitress was energetic
We had a great time. We were seated upon arrival, food was really good. The only issue is the noise level, but that can be expected in an open area.
Server was a rockstar. Wish I could remember her name.
It was my birthday lunch. Absolutely wonderful. I will be coming back.
Waitress was not friendly and seemed rushed
Very classy and upscale. I would definitely reccomend this place to my friends!
Very slow service
The family loved the food .. i thought myself a little pricey for the food we ate .. but the kids and my wife quickly corrected me ..
