Everything was on point. Food was imaginative, lovely presentation and the flavors were delightful and complex. Service was attentive and professional without being disruptive. We were pressed to attend a concert but everything came out in a timely manner without us feeling rushed. Valet is very convenient. Can't wait to return with more time to try more dishes.
Everything firing on all cylinders, great room, great service, excellent food...only downside is noise level.
Outstanding. Amazing food and great service! Will recommend to family, friends and clients!
Service was engaging, attentive and knowledgeable (seemed well trained and coordinated). Food quality was excellent, but the hot spices on most dishes may be too hot for some, and several dishes had the same seasonings that made them all taste the same. .
Trent was awesome. Food was terrific. The only downside is that it is super loud. They should install something to help muffle the sound a bit as it is difficult to hear conversation
Of course the food and decor was absolutely amazing, but nothing compared to our server, Trent! He recommended all the right dishes and created a personalized meal course.
What a gem!
Excellent experience; superb service, exquisite food preparation, presentation and flavors.
The charge of $4 for one extra piece of pita is rather too much.
Will return again!
Excellent food, warm & helpful service. Xxxxxxxxxxxx
Innovative and delicious food. My only complaint is that someone in the kitchen that night was going a bit heavy-handed with the salt bowl. Both the oyster mushroom kabobs and the bread for the lamb shawarma were really oversalted. I mentioned it to our server, who welcomed the comments, which I appreciated. It didn't ruin the two dishes -- they were still scrumptious. But the bread required some surface wiping to make it acceptable, and both dishes would have been way better with a subtler salt touch.
The only decent dish was the farm cheese, which was creamy and delicately flavored. The shrimp were overcooked, dry, and overwhelming by their spicy coating; the lamb chop was thin, tough, and grisly; the baba ganush was average; and the pita and fried bread lacked texture. The wine list was unimpressive, and the Corsican wine was far too light for our food. But the snarky wait people with their arrogant, unhelpful attitude were the worst part of the evening. Full-of-themselves hipsters who seemed to forget their role was supposed to be serving us rather than dismissing our questions. Most disappointing experience that I've had in a restaurant this year. And everything was overpriced. DON'T GO.
Great spot. Food was fresh. The lamb Schwarma, prawns and babaghanoush are amazing.
Amazing food, friendly unpretentious service, great vibe. My only complaint is how hard it is to get a reservation!
The food tasted great until I barfed it all up 4 hours later and couldn't eat anything the next day.
Great food and service. Very loud though.
Outstanding dining experience. Every dish was fantastic. Impressed with thoughtfulness of wine list and service was impeccable.
Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. Not only was it gourmet, but also just straight-up delicious. Each bite had layers of flavor and texture that made the whole meal an experience to remember. Thanks Bavel!
A noisy, cheap-ingredients restaurant that imposes its bad taste in music and foos on people. It confirms my dictum of the least important factor in todays' gastronomy is gastronomy. It's a scene, hang-out ;place for people who don't care much for what they eat, so long as it's not absolute dreck.
Great tasting Middle Eastern Foods with lovely flavors and unique combinations. Quail wings with Date sauce were so good amongst other dishes.
The service was outstanding. You can tell the staff from the back of the kitchen to the front are trained well and congenial. We enjoyed our experience. It is a little pricey but worth a visit if in the LA area.
The service was some of the best I have had in Los Angeles. We didn't have to wait an extra second and the wine service was exceptional. Our server was wonderful and gave the perfect amount of attentiveness. I will definitely be back
OMG, the people from Bestia do it again! Four of us went for two birthdays and we had the best time. The place is so cool, we sat outside on a large patio. We started with drinks. I had the NISSIM (muscat, pineapple, lemon, herbs, honey, soda water)_Delicious. Its on the sweet side because of the pineapple juice but we all loved it. Then we had HUMMUS (creamy & chunky garbanzo bean puree, green & red chili paste, pita), which was good. The SCALLOP CRUDO (pomegranate molasses, citrus, serrano chile oil, charred cucumber, mint, black sesame) was so light and wonderful. It has a kick to it but I loved this. next, ARTICHOKE & CUCUMBER( orange blossom vinaigrette, celery, rose pickled onion, toasted sesame, marigold) I really wanted to like this but the celery and cucumber overtook the taste. I didn't taste the artichoke at all. We all loved the ROASTED CAULIFLOWER (hawaij chile sauce, lime leaf, crème fraiche serrano dip, pistachios, dried flowers) and the carrots that are new to the menu. Finally we got the SLOW ROASTED LAMB NECK SHAWARMA (tahini, red zhoug, pickled vegetables, laffa) that was so tender and flavorful. We ended our delightful evening with two desserts: STRAWBERRY SUMAC & SWEET CHEESE PASTRY (pistachio ice cream, labneh cream, cured sumac) and ALMOND BLOSSOM HONEY NOUGAT GLACÉ (candied mandarinquat, pinenut nougatine, minted citrus salad)> Both were good but the Strawberry pastry was a favorite. You will love this place.
First of all, I am very appreciative that the restaurant was punctual with everyone's reservations. We never felt rushed. In fact, this is a restaurant where you need a minimum of 2 hours to slowly taste and appreciate all the wonderful spices and the variety of flavors of each dish.
There were 4 of us, so we ordered 8 plates, which meant 8 different servers! what a treat! Each server carefully explained what we ordered and recommended how to eat it, as well as reminding us that the plates are to be shared. Darn it! I could have eaten everything by myself.
Turnips - excellent
Oyster Mushrooms - Wow ! delicious
Pita bread - evil. So we placed a 2nd order
The lambshank - what the ? soooooo tender, it just flaked off as soon as our forks touched it.
Oh, and we got a kick out of the cocktails with names from the Old Testament.
This restaurant was SO worth the 3 month wait.
I cannot wait to return.....this time, to try the Duck.
Absolutely fabulous food and beverage, service and ambiance. Strongly recommend!
I would have given 5 stars across the board, however our server was not to be desired. He truly made us feel like he was doing us a 'favor' by gracing us with his presents. He attitude was poor, it seemed like he absolutely hated his job and he was going to take it out on the guests. I would think an establishment of this stature would only demand the best, the server was far from that.
Food was outstanding. Service was below expectations. Our server basically abandoned our table for almost 30 min and rarely came back to follow up with us. In addition our order choices were uneven. We had way too much meat in quantity compared to all the other dishes and the waiter could have guided us better on these recommendations.
the best restaurant experience in the last year. Loved it
Bavel never disappoints.
Love the interior design, and the service. The food is creative, thoughtful, delightfully tasty, and plated beautifully. However, they chose to play extremely aggressive trap music at deafening levels, with no thought to acoustic treatments. This left our group befuddled. Were they trying to turn tables faster? Encouraging us to drink more? Made us think of the psychology of music. Otherwise an amazing experience.
Was very good. But when we arrive the keep us waiting for the table. The send is to the bar but it was all reserved. We could get a drink or seat while waiting.
But out of that was great!
Food, drinks and setting were all amazing! I am excited to come back again! I've recommended this place already to a couple of people. Bavel is something unexpected and worth it.
By far and away the best service and food I've received in a long time. Lula Cafe loves Bavel!
Interior decor is great, but the patio is a bit neglected in the design department. Nice view of the 4th Street bridge though, so it has potential....
Service was excellent! The spreads scallops and lamb chop with wine pairings were second to none. An all around really great experience
We went here for my fiance's birthday and sat at the counter. We absolutely loved everything we ate and drank. The duck hummus, the blistered pita bread, the lamb flat bread and tagine-- we couldn't get enough! Our server Michael was prompt and friendly too. If I could go again, I would try to get a proper table. Sitting at the counter was a nice experience, however some may be turned off by the team members shouting order confirmations to each other. I understand they are just doing their jobs, but it does take away from the romantic and welcoming ambience of the restaurant.
Great food and ambiance and service! Especially loved the Lamb Shawarma and Roasted Duck and Mushroom Kebab. We were seated right on time too - which was a surprise.
Every dish we ordered was fantastic! However the it was too loud to truly enjoy the meal.
