Great food, very fresh, great Bloody Mary!
We might go back to the Tavern, but the brunch was less than we expected based on other reviews. Perhaps, the kitchen staff felt rushed. It was busy. But the feta-tomato-spinach omelette arrived without feta and the few spinach leaves and chopped tomato had no flavor. My wife's reuben eggs benedict arrived with pastrami that was excessively gristly. The house-made scone and croissant that we ordered were excellent.
The food was great and the service was even better.
They have a great patio to sit out on! We had the the burger and the brisket (for 2), both of which were great!
The appetizers were outstanding and stole the show. Our wine was one of the best I’ve ever had! The dinner meal was good, but the appetizers were better.
We celebrated my kids graduation and sat outside. It was a great meal in a nice setting. The raw oysters and red snapper ceviche were delicious.
Love Beacon Tavern. On our list for all occasion's big and small.
You can go with a crowd, for a romantic dinner for two, brunch or afternoon girl talk over a nice bottle of wine. All wonderful, never been disappointed.
Food was delicious!! Service was terrific! Will definitely be going back!
We have been to Beacon Tavern several time and this is the first time we have been disappointed. The meat portion of the Steak Frites was gristly and the fries were soft. The half chicken was dry. The high-concept truffle dessert was visually arresting but not satisfying. The restaurant was busy but not full and the weather was too cool for outside dining. The only thing I can think of to explain the drop in food quality is that the summer menu features fast-preparation and dishes that can be prepared ahead. The lettuce and shrimp wraps arrived minutes after ordering—too fast to be anything other than prepared ahead. I’ll be back, but not until the fall when I hope food quality is more important that speed. Let me say, though, that the front desk was friendly and friendly and professional, and our waiter and back staff provided excellent service. Really hope this was an unexpected stumble and not a change in direction.
Thank you Alex and Phoebe, you always make my experience a Beacon Tavern special
Wonderful. Ivan our waiter brought our food out immediately because we were in a rush. Great location and really really delicious food
My wife and I went for a Sunday brunch. First time there and it was a wonderful dining experience. The staff was spot on and my compliments to the chef. Great place for dining on the river. I’d definitely recommend The Beacon Tavern to friends.
Oysters, blue crab lettuce wraps, and shrimp toast were all very delicious. My wife had the clam chowder which is a favorite entree soup for her and she raved about this version. I had the catch of the day halibut with a great pesto sauce and fresh vegetables—terrific dish. Cocktails were unique and the “Gagelicious” brew celebrating the ten year anniversary of their sister restaurant The Gage was great. George provided exceptional service.
Great food. Cozy and nice location. However it was Friday and happy hour timing. Arrived around 5:20 pm and was never offered a happy hour menu until asked..
We celebrated our Anniversary at this place and loved the food and atmosphere. However, the service was just okay. While the manager did stop at our table, the waitress was not that great.
Love the space.
I had heard this restaurant was associated with another in Chicago, and had high hopes for it. The service was extremely slow, and seemed to focus on the patio and not the interior of the restaurant. The menu was pretty awful and very limited. In addition to this the food was not worth the price. I won't be going back, and I won't recommend this place to a friend. Well maybe the patio is better, but not sure the food would improve that much out there.
Came here for our anniversary and the service was incredible and the food amazing! I come here normally just for happy hour with a friend so it was my first time properly dining. The food was delicious, I think they change the menu up fairly frequently. It’s a small menu but there’s something for everyone. We were between two desserts and ended up deciding on the cheesecake but the server brought us the other dessert we considering as well on the house! Would definitely dine here again!
My wife and I went here for our anniversary. It was close to the hotel we’re staying and had a good rating from OpenTable.
First, the service was awesome! We really enjoyed how well we were treated.
The cocktail menu was very good. My wife had the lemonade cocktail and loved it.
We ordered a couple app’s, the ceviche and the biscuits. Ceviche was the best thing we ate at Beacon Tavern. We were not impressed with the biscuits.
I ordered the steak, a NY Strip. My wife ordered the Crispy Polenta. The polenta was fine, nothing special but not bad. The steak was horrible. Although it was prepared to my request, the meat was not good at all. I would recommend everyone stay away from the beef selection at this establishment. I can only guess they don’t buy quality meat.
We passed on dessert but the offerings sounded great
Sat outside. Server brought my glass of white wine which was not cold enough. He exchanged it for a colder one. He explained the menu including specials without providing prices. We ordered steak frites special which he assured me would be fantastic strip steak. The steak was pretty good but had a lot of griddle. Fries w sauce were great. Husband enjoyed the arctic Char. We shared some mini cheddar biscuits (an appetizer—). no bread or rolls were provided. Other appetizers sounded good but at $18 and $19, seemed overpriced at this restaurant. The waiter brought the dessert menu but disappeared for at least 15 minutes so we opted to skip dessert and coffee. The waiter also checked us in and reported us as a no show.... interesting place, but generally felt food, especially appetizers, was overpriced.
Excellent!! The food and service were outstanding and it wasn’t that expensive. Great restaurant and great value.
Sunday noon reservations, seated promptly on outside terrace. Beautiful surroundings, great ambiance, dog friendly. Food and service is outstanding! Another Fantastic dining experience.
Good brunch menu and good food. Eggs in Purgatory! Very nice outdoor seating. Wait staff was good, attentive.
We went for brunch and it couldn't have been more enjoyable. The coffee was some of the best I've ever had
We dined outside, so I can't really judge noise level inside. Outside was noisy due to ambulances and echo from Lower Wacker due to Memorial day motorcycle rally. Nothing the restaurant staff could do to change those. Our group could still talk most times. Still, very enjoyable outdoor dining experience.
I'm vegan. The restaurant didn't have much vegan options.
Great experience on the patio. The blue crab lettuce wraps were amazing! Husband loved the carrot salad. Breakfast potatoes had a lot of flavor and good texture. The JCVD breakfast sandwich was tasty and filling. The yogurt pannacotta was fresh and delicious. The Server was very good. Unfortunately, he seemed to be taking care of the whole section by himself. Would highly recommend for a lovely afternoon in the city.
This was the third time I have visited Beacon Tavern and the service was exceptional. The food was great as in the past. However, the menu is really limited for non- seafood eaters. I ended up eating the burger and fries against my better judgement which again was great but when I go out to dinner I want something a little more creative. I hope in the future they expand their menu a little more to include things that go beyond what I can get at McDonalds.
Really terrific place, on all fronts. Hidden Gem is right! Tucked in a hard to find corner, just above the Chicago River, under the silly gaze of Trump Tower, this adorable spot has it all. Go there! Great food, awesome service, lovely views, cool vibe. Loved it!
Fantastic service! All hostesses were so attentive and smiling and our server Alex was outstanding. We will definitely be back!
Everyone was wonderful and accommodating. Food excellent!
No so bad. We went there for lunch, the choice is quite limited under 20 bucks. The best part is the patio: almost calm with a view.
Great location and always great food as well as service.
Great go-to spot for just about any meal with friends or business associates. Service is top notch; so are deserts.
Team dinner after a long convention!!
Staff was friendly & very accommodating- as we increased party size an hour prior !!
Appreciated to flexibility- great spot near hotels !!
Dinner was very good. Well paced courses even though the restaurant was very busy. Manager stopped over to check on our experience. Will recommend.
Staff was so accommodating, food was stellar and our waitress, Mary Beth, was absolutely perfect. She had a wonderful energy and was incredibly helpful. We will definitely hope to have her again when we come back!
It was nice.
Great service, good food, cool vibe and decor
