What Insiders Are Saying
For Italian in Los Angeles, it doesn't get any better than the Arts District's Bestia, This isn't dinner, it's an experience.
Wonderful food but more vegetarian options would be appreciated. Spectacular desserts.
We waited almost an hour for our reservation with no sincere apology from the restaurant except a feeble "we've been busy" excuse. It's not the first time we've had this experience at Bestia and for a 5-year old restaurant totally inexcusable.
The food was OK, but certainly not the standard it's been in the past. Pizza was soggy and oversauced. Pasta portions were tiny and at $23-27 should be substantial. Lamb neck was oversalted and too dry to eat. Salads were bland. Overall, not worth the high price tag and there are much better places in the area.
The atmosphere continues to be fun and lively but right now that's all that seems to be driving the place. I hope that this will change as we liked Bestia on every past visit.
One of my favorite restaurants in all of Los Angeles! I had to book my reservation 60 days in advance in order to lock in a good time for my birthday dinner! Service is excellent... the hostess, the bartenders and servers were all very attentive and nice.
The food was excellent! Four of us ordered the Lobster Crostino, the Fuyu Persimmon & Cucumber, the Chicken Gizzards, the Roasted Bone Marrow, the Cavatelli alla Norcina, the Rib Eye, the Spaghetti Rustichella, the Frozen Torte, the Coffee & Donuts, and a Blood Orange Sorbet dessert that I forgot the name of...
Everything was delicious. My favorite dishes were the Cavatelli alla Norcina and the Roasted Bone Marrow.... honorable mention goes to the Rib Eye, it was pricey but perfectly seasoned and cooked.
It was a cold evening and we were seated on the outside patio, but they had heat lamps and those plastic shades to block the wind so we didn’t notice the cold weather at all.
All in all, it was an excellent dining experience!
Chef's table = amazing. A little loud and a little warm, but being able to watch the organized chaos was an experience.
Been here a few times and it’s consistently superb. The food and service are top notch. For a restaurant with this type of vibe and hype, they never rest on their laurels. From the hostess to the server to the bus staff, everyone was great to deal with. Bestia should be a model for how great restaurants stay relevant. Great job everyone !
Bestia is right up there with absolutely any restaurant !
5 Star Food & Service, impressive & on point at every turn !
Incredible original tastes in all their dishes !
Great food in an intereting space. The seating is a little odd in certain places. We were seated in an outside area which was protected from the cold by a heavy plastic wall. The problem was there was a window next to us and not 2 inches away-on the other side of the glass was another couple. Those tables should not be adjacent. Also, and this is a problem throughout LA--the music is so loud that everyone has to shout so the noise level is very high. Additionally, the music appeared to be some droning techno-loop and not pleasing music. Get better music, turn down the volume and let people talk. The staff and the food are both excellent.
had a 9:15 reservation, but didn’t get seated until 9:35. Then we sat there waiting for a waiter to take our order, by 10pm, we still hadn’t been able to put in an order, so we left because we needed to eat
Honestly, anything you order will most likely be spectacular. Not one dish was lacking and filled with so many amazing flavours.
High quality food and innovative recipes- we really enjoyed the lobster crostini and the spicy mussels/clams as starters. For mains, we had pork ragu and amatricciana pasta. We sat on the kitchen counter (we really enjoyed seeing how cooks were putting effort into every dish!). I think we were really lucky because we just booked our two spots two days before going. Would definitely come back!
Food was good but not superb like I have experienced in restaurants with similar reputations. Not worth the month wait to get in. I think the restuarant is pretty over hyped. Might have enjoyed it more had I not been expecting so much. Overall though it is good food and the waiters were really lovely.
Not good all!!
Mood, food, service, table, chair, noise, smell
I will don’t go never again
Great dining experience. Food delicious, service was attentive and ambiance was great.
Bestia never disappoints! I love the service from the valet service to the hostesses, to the bartenders to the busboys, to the waiters to the cooks and chef!!! Great energy and flow at this restaurant!
Hard to get reservations and definitely overpriced, but we like to come here once in a while because their flavors are good and the service is excellent. Our favorite is the bone marrow. Beware if you order steak. They tell you they'll only make it medium rare and it always ends up being raw, not medium rare. For dessert, the chocolate tart is excellent, but I wish they would bring back the peanut butter bar they used to have. Overall, good food and worth visiting once in a while.
Everything was absolutely perfect!!!...the taste of the food (AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!), the presentation, the vibe, the customer service...never once did we have to ask for anything, everyone was so attentive and friendly!..will definitely be back again and again and again....
Some of the best service in Los Angeles. Energetic crew with outstanding dishes.
This was everything I hoped it would be and more. Incredible food and service!
Loved it and want to go back!!
Evan the bartender was PHENOMENAL.
Great food, several items on the menu were gone.
The place has a great atmosphere, the service prompt and corteous.
Prices according to quality.
Very innovative menu.
Very good experience...
I tried to Order the $130 ribeye medium rare plus. My waiter said they only serve rare. I trusted them as I had it last time and loved however it wasn’t rare last time like this time. It came raw and cold. I asked my waiter to please put in in a notch and they refused. The waiter then said “anything else I can do for you this evening”? I wanted a glass of wine and had the waiter bring me a sample of a white from there all unknown wine list. He had to send over the wine director who was so insulted I like chard with lots of oak. He said they only have wines to match there food. Served me a glass of his wine he chose and said I will be right back to check on how I liked it. He never came back. There were 4 of us and I ordered the pizza and the steak which is more then enough even for big eaters and the waiter was insulted and said we should order more. Since it was my 2nd time to the restaurant I knew not to order more. There is a Cool vibe and good music here but the staff is terrible besides the darling sweet hostess. The Manager who I dealt with last time Chase was great but he is gone and sadly so is the service and food. I’m not big on reviews but this one is needed.
Service was excellent. Food was very good, but nothing out of this world. Cocktails were on point, and bar staff was friendly and quick.
It was great! Everyone was really friendly
The food is something very special, a definite must try. Unlike anything in LA. Service is top notch and you can taste the passion in the food. Can’t wait to go back.
Service was great. Food and drinks were great. The pastas are a little bit too salty, but rich in flavor. Just wish they had more vegetarian options.
Hostess upon arrival should not be first person to see and talk with ... way too much attitude
This was the perfect way to say Arrivederci to 2018 + Ciao to 2019!! Having to wait 3 months for a table was well worth it, even if it sounds ludicrous to some. Everything was impeccable, though I was mildly disappointed that some of the delicious gems I had dreamt of trying weren’t available that evening.
I’m already planning my next excursion down to 7th street to see what Bestia will dazzle my taste buds with next.
Hair in food
At first, our meal started out quite pleasantly. The first course, roasted bone marrow, arrived and both my wife and I enjoyed it. After that, we were expecting our second appetizer, mussels and clam, but instead it was the Burrata pizza we ordered. The pizza was also good and perhaps larger in size that I expected. It took us a while to consume the whole thing. By the time we finished, my wife and I had been sitting at our table for about 45 minutes, still without the second appetizer we had ordered. Naturally, based on prior experience, both of us assumed that the order had somehow got lost in the shuffle. Since our pizza was finished and our appetite considerably diminished, we decided to order a small dessert to finish off our meal.
The waitress, who stopped by our table only once or twice after we ordered our food, came by and took our dessert order and then told us that our appetizer was still on its way. Mind you, this was nearly one hour into our meal. We told her that we were no longer interested but she explained that our meal was ordered so that the appetizer would come last instead of first, claiming that this was the best to enjoy the dish. Now, as someone who has dined at a fair share of Italian restaurants, this was the first time that Antipasti item was supposed to come at the end of a meal. If this is Bestia’s policy, then why wasn’t it explained to us when we made our initial order? Our waitress, who now had a really sour look on her face, was no longer nice to us. When we received our check, she swiped my credit card and gave us back the receipt without saying a single word. No smile or thank you. This rude behavior left a slightly sour taste in our mouths as we walked to the parking lot and left the restaurant.
Really enjoyed everything we tried. The table next to us was raving about their dishes so we tried to copy what they ordered and were never disappointed! Looking forward to going back.
AMAZING AS ALWAYS!
I had a reservation two months in advance with a note of where I wanted my seat, it was very important!! They disregarded it completely even with my final begging and pleading at the hostess's counter. I'm a regular here and I'm very very disappointed. I probably won't be back for special occasions.
Very hip/hipster. The service was excellent. The food is good but to us, didn’t live up to the hype. The salads were excellent, the pizzas were very good. The pasta was good. Overall, it’s a great place to hang with the LA hipster crowd but if it’s booked up for the next month, you can find equally good or better options in LA.
I had my birthday dinner there two nights before NYE, but it was still incredibly busy! I made my reservation 60 days ahead, which i definitely suggest if you're coming with at least 4 or more people. I had confirmed my reservation two days before, but every one in my party ended up being late and one cancelled last minute. The entire party was there by 5:22 for a 5pm rez and I thought they'd be upset, but they took it in stride and seated us right away! I was so grateful. We tried every pasta dish, a pizza, and three appetizers including the bone marrow. Everything was really good but I felt like after a while a lot of the flavors just started to mesh? That's on me for not getting some sort of palate cleanser. The cocktails were amazing, and they put a candle in my chocolate tart! It was a lovely experience and we were put in the best people-watching corner. I will absolutely come back.
Great and attentive service. Delicious food.
Always have a great time here. I invite my special friends to dine here. To share the great food, ambiance, service and location. Bestia is making LA the food destination it deserves!
Excellent as usual! The atmosphere is fun but quiet enough to talk and really enjoy friends and the food and drinks are special. Always a treat!
