I ordered a cheeseburger. I took a bite and felt a hair in my mouth. I spit out the food into a napkin. The hair was stuck in the cheese because it was cooked into it. They took off the price of my burger and potatoes that were on the same plate. They charged me for my side salad and beer. I tipped over 20% on everything, including the burger and the mashed potatoes. The next morning I realized I had been overcharged for the salad because I was told by the server that the salad came with the meal. I ordered the potatoes as a side. Side orders were less on their menu than salads.

Basically I wasn’t happy with my experience. I didn’t complain much at the restaurant because I wanted my four friends at the table to enjoy their meal.

Restaurant was crowded but we had reservations so we were seated right away. Our issue is with the seating and noise. The table to which we were directed was right next to bar areas and kitchen - 4 older folks, we don’t talk loud and have issues hearing - so requested an unoccupied table of four along wall much quieter - told a large party coming so needed both 4 tops. Later we observed the large group seated on opposite wall and two sets of four now seated at the area we requested. So dinner was full of loud folks at bar and trying to talk/ hear each other (my open table always has quiet area request). Food - jambalaya was tasty, Panko fried whitefish nicely cooked but no more flavor than most fish in a fish/chips order. Fries were soggy. Crab cake was good. Because of noise we left for dessert elsewhere. Personally I would not go out of my way to come here (and we went way out of our way for this trip).

Dinner was excellent - great variety from ribs (excellent) to gumbo (great). We had a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed both the food and drinks. The service was awesome - didn't feel rushed but the waiter was attentive. Will definitely return when I am back in Chicago!!!

We were going to be in that area so we reserved at Bluegrass. It's a small place and tables are kind of close together. They were certainly hoppin' on a Saturday evening, so you will definitely need to reserve. The menu is quite expansive but there is an attention to detail in each item. We had the crab cake which was house made, and the blackened grouper and the etoufee, which were good. Nothing was particularly spicy but that was easily remedied with a couple shots of hot sauce. Vodka martini was generous! Our server Patrice was very nice.

Great menu selection. Leans towards New Orleans style but you can get barbecue, to steak, to sandwiches there. 3 of 4 dishes were great: Shrimp Carbonara, Shrimp and Grits, and Brisket sampler were very good. 4th dish was an Oktoberfest special (Veal Schnitzel with Spaetzle with Sauerkraut). Veal was thin and breading too thick for veal (as well as over-salted). Spaetzle was very good but was hoping for red kraut. Service for food was amazingly fast and atmosphere was very good. Nice eclectic menu!

We took the drive up to Highland Park for dinner and a movie and decided to try Bluegrass based on its great reviews. The food (tilapia, key west salad, bananas foster) and ambiance were great. The service left something to be desired. Our waiter spent hardly any time at our table even after we had asked for his suggestions on the menu.

We look forward to coming back and hope for better service.

Second time at this place. Service excellent, half portion offers for my 91 year old dad! Most casual places do not offer this option. Can’t wait to try more of the Louisiana style cuisine!
Music choices were excellent for everyone. Will go back! Super accommodating staff! Checked on our meals more than once - bananas foster to die for, my opinion!
Small dessert portions available as well as table portions.

My entire party was extremely pleased with our experience at Bluegrass. I have heard about this place for years and we finally got over here for a business dinner. About the only thing that wasn't positive is we were sitting right under a big speakers so conversation was a little difficult. Everything we got from apps to entrees was outstanding - even the BBQ sauce. Drinks were good and they have a pretty unique/hard to find selection of alcohol. We will 100% be coming back.

This was our first (but definitely not our last) visit to your restaurant. The knowledgeable and very pleasant wait staff and the creative preparation of the food was just what we were looking for. Two of the folks in our group are craft beer drinkers and one person is a cocktail drinker. All three found excellent choices from the list. The server answered all of our questions and helped us with recommendations for our food, which was very good....seasoned correctly and arrived to our table in a timely manner. We eat out often and will be adding this gem to our go-to list. Thanks again to the excellent wait staff!

This is the second time we have been to Bluegrass. The cocktails are good. The wait staff is very good. The cleanliness is absolutely filthy. There is food splatter on the windows, window shades, and underneath the tables. The salads are absolutely horrible. For the price of the food that is not worth it. The first time we had gone was for a birthday . This second time was only because friends of ours had a gift certificate to Bluegrass and needed to use it. Same issues on the first reservation as the second where it was absolutely filthy, table was sticky, etc. Would not recommend it. We were very disappointed.
