We booked an anniversary lunch. Paid a babysitter $50 to make this lunch possible. When we arrived we learned that the restaurant had been closed several days earlier because of a license suspension. Extremely disappointed by this. I know things happen but we even received an email the day before our reservation asking us to confirm that we were planning to come. We did. They didn't.

I showed up for a reservation and there was a sign from the Ontario Liquor Commission in the window saying closed indefinitely. Reason :necessary in the public interest. No call or anything to cancel.

Had high hopes for Bodega Rose but disappointed. We had brunch, I was unaware it was just brunch on weekends but that was ok. Service was impersonal and generic, food was poor tasting and we waited 25+ minutes for French toast and sandwich. Atmosphere nice but that was about it

We really enjoyed our dining experience at Bodega Rose including a wonderful bottle of a French chardonnay and the zucchini crisps and halloumi (cheese) fries and the mushroom gnocchi entrée. The service was friendly and prompt and we even managed to get a piece of their amazing carrot cake to go and enjoyed it with breakfast the next morning. Thank you Bodega Rose!

I went for brunch with a friend on Sunday, March 8. We both ordered the mushroom skillet and agreed it was outstanding. I also ordered a side of bacon, which came with five huge pieces cooked to perfection! The downside was the service. We were seated right away and given water, but then waited another 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order—by that point we were ready to order our food as well. It took at least another 15 minutes to receive our coffee, and the food arrived right behind it. The coffee was lukewarm, and no cream or sugar was offered, so I asked for some to be brought over. After about 10 minutes, I had to ask a different server for it. Our waitress came over about five minutes later with the cream and said, “Oh, someone brought it to you already,” with no apology or awareness of how much time had passed. By then, my coffee was completely cold and I was almost finished my meal. When we asked for our bills, it took another 10–15 minutes. The restaurant was busy, but not that busy. It was my first time there—the food was great, but the service was poor.

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience last evening at Bodega rose. Service was incredibly slow, we were seated for 17 minutes before our server greeted us and took a drink order. We ordered drinks and an appetizer at the same time - the appetizer arrived first and I had to remind the server about the drinks. Took over an hour for our mains to arrive. The entire dining experience was over 3 hours. Our server was at first not directly acknowledging the long wait times until we politely asked what was going on. Our server proceeded to explain the restaurant was not prepared for a busy night (can’t quite comprehend why there would not have been more preparedness regarding this) and that the kitchen was backed up due to the busy nature of the evening. I get it, but it wasn’t exactly a satisfying answer. Had I known they were understaffed or service was this slow we would have opted for another place. My partners main was good, mine was not good - very dry chicken that did not taste fresh, salad and my main were missing components that were listed in the ingredients on the menu. Though we were not charged for my main and offered free desserts we found it overall disappointing there was not more direct communication about what was going on. For example no manager came around to our table or several others around us who clearly looked frustrated as well at the nature of the dining experience. For the the cost of the menu items and general service expectations of this type of restaurant it was not up to standards and I am hesitant to go back.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion, guests often dress a bit more formally but nothing overly strict is required.

Generally yes, families and children do dine at Bodega Rose and staff are often described as friendly and accommodating. However, there’s no kids’ menu and much seating is high-top, so for toddlers or strollers you may want to request a low table when booking. An early seating is a good option for a calmer family visit.

Bodega Rose offers a modern, chic and cozy vibe with upbeat energy, perfect for drinks and small-group sharing. Guests praise the decor, friendly staff and relaxed-chic feel. Some guests find portions generous for sharing, while others describe certain mains or sharing plates as modest for the price. If you’re dining hungry, plan to order several sharing plates or add a side, the menu clearly labels many items as shareable.
