About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for groups
  • Great for creative cocktails
Bosco, which means “woods” or “forest” in Italian, is the newest restaurant from The Absinthe Group. A glowing wood-fired hearth anchors the open kitchen, where the culinary team, led by chefs Ryan McIlwraith and Kaili Hill, prepares roasted meats and vegetables, handmade pastas, and house-baked breads. A thoughtfully curated cocktail program, designed to complement the cuisine, is led by our Bar Manager, Matt Gonzalez, while an exceptional wine selection, curated by The Absinthe Group's Beverage Director, Michael Goss, further enhances the dining experience. Together, they round out an experience set in a warm and inviting space that feels both transportive and distinctly San Francisco.

🍅 6 courses, all about tomatoes! I tried Bosco’s $55 Heirloom Tomato Menu and it was such a fun celebration of summer tomatoes. From the tomato & stone fruit gazpacho and yellowfin tuna carpaccio toast to the tomato & goat cheese scarpinocc, heirloom tomato caprese, your choice of entrée, and tomato sorbet 🍅✨ Everything felt so cohesive and thoughtfully done! 📍 Bosco | @bosco_sf 🌉 San Francisco, CA 🤍 Thank you #SanFranciscoFoodie #SFFoodie #SanFranciscoRestaurants #TomatoSeason #TastingMenu

One of SF’s newest Italian restaurants is your next date night restaurant. @bosco_sf specializes in seasonal ingredients cooked over firewood, with pasta being a true standout. Our favorite was the Dungeness crab ricotta gnocchi. We paired it alongside Italian inspired cocktails before finishing with possibly the best olive cake we’ve had. Would you try?

Dinner at Bosco was brilliant. I had the tuna carpaccio (vibrant and colorful and fresh) with buttermilk and hibiscus syrup, the grilled hangar steak with roasted potatoes, onions and mushrooms in a red wine jus ( I needed a slice of Kaili’s sourdough focaccia to mop up every drop of that savory jus) , and, for dessert, an amazing pear crostata with layers of pistachio and sweet potato , accompanied by malted vanilla ice cream. Chefs Ryan and Kaili just keep getting better, together with their team, who create a warm, welcoming and sophisticated experience. I’ll be back.

A lovely space, lively but not too noisy, friendly and gracious service, and excellent, creative food. We had the special tomato tasting menu and it was both wonderful and a complete steal at $55 for six courses. We'll be returning to try other things on the menu for sure!

I tried Bosco’s tomato tasting menu, and it was so creative and beautifully done! 🍅 My favorite bites were the tuna and tomato carpaccio toast, heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella, and the gazpacho. Everything was so vibrant, and the tomatoes were incredibly juicy and flavorful. I also loved their specialty cocktail, the Mama Mia, made with tomato gin and lemon. 🍸 The restaurant itself is beautiful, and they have some really intriguing dishes on their regular menu that I definitely need to go back and try!
