Absolutely amazing! The food was more than delicious. The drinks were top notch with great variety .The atmosphere was delightful and soft. Jammie, our waiter, was attentive, kind, and well knowledgeable with the menu. The entire staff was attentive and caring too. The manager Jeff, came over and made such a great, personal connection with us. Looking forward to going back and enjoying everything.

We usually seek out places that aren’t part of a restaurant group but we’re happy to make an exception for this place. In fact we’ve eaten here twice in the last month, in July, and in August for Dine Out Boston, and both times loved it. The menu adheres closely to French Bistro style, but they go out of their way to use the season’s bounty to keep the menu fresh: we enjoyed sweet corn, swisschard, zucchini, ripe juicy tomatoes, all woven into classic bistro dishes, as well as a bluefish entree (mid-summer to early fall being the best time of year for this fish). The service from everyone is excellent as well, very nice and helpful. In fact, at one point the runner who was bringing our plates, headed towards our table with desserts but seeing that we were still eating our entrees, unobtrusively pivoted halfway over and took them back to the kitchen. Big points for that, as we find too many other Boston restaurants rush you through the meal. In this instance, no fuss, no muss. One comment - the kitchen has a tendency to under cook meat dishes, i.e., getting rare when ordering medium rare, but we’re personally ok with that, since we’d prefer it underdone, rather than overdone (that’s a big no in our book). Other pluses: great wine on the list at many different price points, some things you don’t usually see on restaurant lists; free validated parking in the lot adjacent to the restaurant; a covered patio with lovely planter boxes of annuals - it’s semi-below street level, so when sitting there, you’d never know it abuts the parking lot.

Came primarily because of the widely advertised Boston Dine Out week but no special menu was being offered on today’s (Sunday) lunchtime (no explanation was given). Regular brunch menu was fine but the otherwise very friendly service was quite slow.

BrasserieResponded 3 days agoThank you for joining us, Shillbay. I am sorry that the messaging was confusing. Participating restaurants may offer lunch and/or dinner. Being open for weekend brunch only, we participated in the dinner offering from August 7th through August 20th. I will update the copy to say "Dinner." I appreciate the heads up.

Food was excellent. We had several apps and 3 different entrees. The duck and the short rib were tender and tasty. The boulabais was not exactly in the style that was desired, with a thicker broth than expected. It took almost 3 hours to complete the meal. It started with a 20 minute wait to even give a drink order. Then each step took at least 20 minutes. I'd go back for the food, but not sure I could stand the service.

BrasserieResponded 3 days agoThank you for dining with us, Karen. Wonderful to read that you enjoyed the duck and short rib. I shared your thoughtful impressions regarding the bouillabaisse. No excuse for the delayed service. We were overwhelmed by tardy reservations driven by the early evening thunderstorm, and then the situation was compounded by First Friday and King Tut exhibit walking traffic. I am sorry we did not do a better job shielding your party from that. Respectfully, Jeffrey Gates

I brought my elderly mother there for an early birthday dinner. The service was superb. Both the manager and the owner stopped by to chat and wish her a happy birthday and the attentive waiter brought her dessert with a candle. I have been to several more expensive restaurants that got a big F under similar circumstances. Bravo and thank you, Brasserie!

Sancerre wine, dee-lish! We sat outside, very nice. Super friendly staff, thumbs up to Juan. Food is great and comes out fast. We will be back next time we’re in Boston. 100%

My family and I had a wonderful evening dining at Brasserie. Their food never disappoints. All six of us were extremely happy with our meals. The outdoor patio is beautiful and the large umbrellas provide plenty of shade on a hot summer night. The staff at Brasserie were extremely courteous, especially our server Willie who was knowledgable, professional and attentive. We will be back.

Went for my mom’s birthday. Gorgeous and comfortable interior, cool art/decor. Busy but not at all noisy. Apps, drinks and dinner were delicious. Waiter Jamie was really nice but was chewing gum, kept calling my dad “my man,” and didn’t provide much insight about the food menu. The profiteroles pastries were stale, crème brûlée top wasn’t fully brûléed. Overall nice experience, look forward to returning.

We love this restaurant and we have enjoyed many meals there, so perhaps our recent Sunday brunch was a one-off anomaly. Ambience and service are excellent. The food was disappointing. The viennoiserie contained a mediocre croissant and a pain au chocolat; both of the quality similar to that served in a convention hotel breakfast room (plus two muffins which are not traditional viennoiserie items). The management needs to find a better French bakery to supply the pastries. The main courses were not hot -- slightly warm. Roasted potatoes were dry -- they were likely prepared early and then reheated. Confit de canard was delicious but also a bit dry. The quiche Florentine was quite tasty -- probably the best item that we ordered that day. We would still recommend Brasserie to a friend because all of our other experiences there were exemplary and we believe that Sunday was just an off day for the kitchen. The weather was beastly in Boston, approaching 100 degrees F, so the kitchen staff might have been "under the weather," which is understandable.

Came here after the King Tut exhibit. Would have come for brunch earlier but, when you Google it online it shows closed. Walking by it to the exhibit we realized that was not the case. So, we went afterwards. Glad we did. Outstanding breakfast. I just had my usual scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and an English muffin. Eggs were fresh, would not be surprised if they were local farm eggs. Bacon was great. Home fries were excellent. English muffin with blueberry compote rounded out to meal. Fresh coffee as well. My wife had a Cobb salad which she also thought was excellent. Thinking all day about when I can go back

Food is fine. The service is terrible. Took 15 minutes for a server to come greet us and 5 more minutes after we were greeted for them to bring water. Cheese plate was dropped off and we had to ask for plates. No one ever explained what was what. Drinks we ordered didn’t even come until mid way through the main course.

During our dining experience, we felt that the staffing shortage or lack of experience affected not only the service but the other elements of the experience. Our server was visibly frustrated at a lack of bussers to clear the tables, and our food came out inconsistent, with our boulibase seafood being over cooked and our steak frites being under (ordered medium rare and came out quite rare). Our appetizers were good but they both involved no cooking. Drink orders took a while to come out. Restaurant feels that it could be great with better staffing and management of such.

Brasserie has one of the nicest outdoor patios in the city in my opinion. The food is always very good; we especially like the mussels. Like many restaurants, they appear to be having difficulty with staffing. It was at least 15 minutes after being seated that anyone came to the table; we weren't even given water. At that time the tables were not full and there were staff standing around. It appears that the waiter is responsible for everything for their tables including water service and bussing the tables. Once we ordered, our food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. We'll be back but hope that the staffing situation gets better.

Never eaten lunch there before, only dinner. Don't mind so much not being served fresh baked baguette, do mind not having a full bar at lunch. There's a stocked bar with patrons seated at it. Liquor is a restaurant's highest profit. I was smiling when I ordered hard to get chilled watermelon gazpacho as my starter. It was only when the server brought my dining companion's starter that he gave me the bad news they'd run out. He should've known that when I placed the order. (Only 1 other party in dining room). My meal was described on the menu as having pommes puree (mashed potatoes, which I like). But when my entree arrived, it has whole mini potatoes in it. I asked a manager and they brought me pommes puree. Finally, their E-mail promoted images of Paris on the walls as ambience. We saw only one.
