Here’s what we got! 🥑 nacho mama’s nachos - absolutely LOADED with chicken al pastor, black bean puree, guacamole, pickled jalapeño, chipotle fondue cheese, crema, queso fresco 😍 the picture truly doesn’t do it justice it’s HUGE 🌮 carne asada tacos - chipotle soy marinated steak! so so good 😍 🍹 pyro passion - comes out flaming! It’s passionfruit habanero and tequila and it’s one of my fav drinks :) 🍷 rojo sangria - classic, fruity refreshing 🍹guava refresco - they have soooo many flavors of refrescos! It may have been Fat Tuesday but @feef_may and I had a Taco Tuesday craving which @brokenenglishtacopub slayed. You know eh, I had to get the elotes. No way did I feel “corny” as I Valentina-ed those ears which were swimming in chipotle fondue and dusted in cotija and cilantro. The fried chicken tacos were calling our name “Duke… Felicia… our batter has negra @modelousa and we come with a ghost pepper mayo and cabbage slaw.” The pork belly tacos had some heat from the smoked habanero honey marinade but the pineapple pico was the sweet relief. My pyro passion also brought some heat. It was actually on fire, silly should have read its menu description better: cachaça, blanco tequila, passionfruit, agave,habanero, inverted lime, FUEGO. Then there was dessert. Nutella filled churros in an horchata matcha gelato. ¡Delicioso! Now you all know how I feel about tacos! I’ve mentioned before how difficult it is to find a good Mexican spot in the loop area of Chicago and this is one that I can add to the list. @brokenenglishtacopub is a taco pub that puts a unique span on Mexican street style tacos. Not only is the food delicious, but the artwork is awesome and the music fits the vibes. The enchilada fries that I tried? Were delicious! If you’re from Chicago, you know what mild sauce is – and that’s exactly what it tastes like was on these fries. It’s a chili butter sauce that will make you gobble down the fries before you even know what happened! I had to stop myself from eating them so I could have room for everything else. The tacos definitely showed why they are the guest of honor here. We got to try six different ones - carne asada, fried chicken, shrimp, potato, fried cod fish and the bistec. Each one was original and layered with flavor. The dessert at the end was great as well because who doesn’t love churros? And these were freshly deep fried with an ice cream that tastes like it was turned right in the back.
